Sony AN-1 Radio Antenna on Medium Wave
More adventures in improving AM broadcast radio reception: the Sony AN-1 Active Wide-range radio antenna is great in the medium wave (AM broadcast) band?
Here's some comparisons of a few stations, as heard in Long Valley, New Jersey, both with and without the Sony AN-1. This video features the Sangan ATS909X, which has an external antenna socket that is operative on the MW band.

I had a Sony ICF-2010 FET front end and its inductor got toast by nearby lightning. It was connected to a AN-1.

IMHO comparing the AN1 with a long wire would be more informative? Most all antenna located outdoors work better then the provided telescopic, especially when located indoors. Thank you for posting.

I have just dug out my AN1 from out of my loft and attached it to my new shed. I've hooked it up to my old FRG 100, and getting good results. I originally purchased the AN1 back in the 80's to go with my Sony ICF7600.

Very nice video to understand an1 interestingly no significant signal level gain but totaly eliminate back ground noise qrm super in MW Today bought okd new stock in istanbul cant wait to test in my ICF 2010
