How to make you Sony C-80/C-100 sound like the C800G: After analyzing raw audios from comparison youtube files, using sites like audio kitchen, reviewing frequency response charts, matching two of the files on my daw to sound exactly the same, and taking my c100 to a studio here in houston that has an actual sony c800g, this is the secret (by the way, the c-80 and c-100 are the exact mic except c-100 has an extra capsule that records up to 50khz) (and the c800g has a tube so if u want to match it even more, get you a tube based hardware eq like a pultec, tube tech cl1b compressor already has the same tubes as pultec so u dont need it if u got the cl1b) so here are the eq moves u got to make, thank me later: Boost about 3db around 3.75khz and 6db around 9khz There, u got the closest tubeless sony c800g. I got tried and bought most the clones and something is missing, but the sony c-100/c-80 the closest from the rest. These are the mics i have bought and/or tested from linking up with people at studios here. Golden age ga8000 is A great clone And we recommend 💯 if you want the best clone And its the most authentic clone plus perfect sound match Now zp800g is something else and for sure is not A clone ( not a clone) , is A new fresh take on how todays super modern rap mic should sound its more open more upfront for that reason. Please be honest you dont own A zp800g my friend all zp800g owners know its not A clone but A upgrade :)

Thanks so much for the test and for the files. You are an unbelievably great singer. First i waa.disappointed as the c100 sounded so much better. Then i hace downloades the files and saw that the c100 was 0.5db louder. After correction of perceived loudness, i wasn't able to tell the mixs apart. I will buy one c80. Thanks again

Thanks for tuning in! On the RU-vid video I measured the Lufs on each phrase, I didn't do that on the export. The C-80 sounds great and it's hard to compete with the price! Cheers! ✌️

Nice singing, thanks for the solid musicianship here in the demo. It was clear to me that the C-100 was the class act here. Love it. It is very close to the C-800G which I have used extensively for vocals, both sung and rap. The C-80 was decent, and definitely in the same family. However it lacked body and openness up top. I would use the C-80 in non-critical utility duties. Both Sony’s displayed good polar pattern discipline and minimal phase problems as evidenced by how the room tone was represented. The ZP clearly indicates poor capsule design with ugly phased room tones becoming prevalent in the recording. It’s not all about frequency response. The best capsules have much more linear polar responses and lack of phase issues. This is why Schoeps mics are so highly revered.

The multi pattern C100 is just a great option. You're technique could sell any of these microphones. The zp seems to present an authentic representation of your resonant chambers (sinus mask) whereas the beautiful top end of the Sony's makes this feature of your vocal less obvious. Take note classical and operetic vocal producers and engineers! I'd be thrilled with any of these mic selections. Excellent demonstration of mics and voice and especially microphone technique. Pulling your chin in slightly on the closed consonants without sacrificing the followup note spin or tone probably eliminates the need for a pop filter, unless you're just using it to reduce the velocity of your esses. I wish more tenors could do this as intuitively as you've demonstrated.
@Christian_svedin
@Christian_svedin Год назад
Your to kind! I do think the ZP take was the one I'd use if I had to chose, it was a bit more resonant overall. I do practice on a regular basis and I try to improve. I do still struggle a little to much to my liking when I record haha... Thanks for watching 🙏 I

i think the sony c-80 is smoother than the others, not too airy, it's grate for me! The C-100 is fantastic, definitely more detailed than the c-80, but not too different.

That ZP800 picked up a whole lot of the room. Sounded good on the track though.
@zpmicrophones
@zpmicrophones Год назад
That's because zp800g needs to be used allot more up close , it has minimum proximity effect and can handle close up vocals perfectly without getting muddy , but the other mics could not handle that :)

C-100 has a beautiful sound it picks up such subtle details in the vocals that c-80 misses and it has such a nice airy crisp but warm feel. I agree with someone else I hate the ZP sound character. C-100 is my dream mic. I hope to buy it one day.

Nice to see ZP Microphones to show up after this long time , I own the ZP800G and the Corti Flagship for over A year now and can say the zp800g distroys the sony c100 but it is made for close up vocals and shines on rap and RNB vocals , i did feel the distance and room sound was unfortunately but still sounded smoother exspecialy when applying compression for under A modern beat with the files ,the ZP mics are unbeatable how smooth and polisched they stay, made me sell my neumanns and sony and never looked back ever since

The smoothness of the C-100 in the top end wins for me. As soon as the voice comes into the midrange there's less of a difference between thae C80 and the C100. The ZP for me is a bit more nasal. Is the C-100 worth extra for the extra 10% of high end quality? that's the question....😜

I’m listening on mwa headphones so… can hear a lot more room on the ZP (or is it recorded in a other room?) Can’t hear much air on these headphones but it seems like the c80 got a little high lift at 8 or 9k. Think that the c80 could be a nice mic for live applications

Hey! The ZP is not true cardiod that's why you get room bleed. That was a design decision made by ZP. The C80 is definitely the best bang for buck. In the mix I do enjoy the smoothness of the ZP but I like the two Sonys too! Let's get em all 🤣
