Cool video! Just got a couple of these from an auction! The tray works fine on one and is a bit sticky on the other. My problem though is that the disc never starts spinning once it’s closed. The cd stabilizer clamps down but then just ejects the cd after a few seconds
@@luvradios nope neither unit will play a disc. The disc never spins either, I don’t know if the disc motor is dead or the servo that controls it. I’m assuming that the cd ejects because the laser can’t read the disc because it is not spinning
@@Firedragon0202 Assuming the tray is fully closing, I would look at the switch at the rear of the disc tray on the right side and make sure its being actuated and there's good continuity when its closed. If neither of those units have ever been worked on or touched its unlikely there is anything seriously wrong. Are they in good physical/cosmetic condition?
@@luvradios Yeah, one is a bit prettier than the other but both are pretty light on scratches and they’re obviously a bit dusty inside. Doesn’t look like they’ve been worked on before. Are you referring to the latch that locks the tray in once it closes? I looked at that before to make sure that the spring was pulling it away when it opens and then moves back to lock it in, seemed like all was fine there. Another thing I noted taking a look at it a few moments ago is there is a very faint, almost clock ticking noise coming from the laser sled or the laser itself. There’s a very light physical bump coming from that area, it does it 3 times and then ejects the disc like I mentioned before
@@Auie_Chris No I've been putting it off, literally fixed about a dozen XBoxes and XBox 360's in the past week, hoping to get to it before the new year while I'm on vacation.
I have a Sony CDP-101 and recently started making a clicking noise. I opened it up and noise is coming from the laser eye. The eye would move up and down as it was trying to focus and would make constant clicking
Great video and awesome music choice. Just a suggestion... try not to cut out so much of the original footage. I'd prefer to see the whole dissasembly procedure. Regards.
