In this short video I go through the reasons I bought the Sony ECM XYST1M microphone. The model number is not very inspiring but the microphone is actually quite good and could be very useful if you have a compact camera with a mic jack. Even better if you have a Sony camera with the multi interface shoe as you will not need a cable.

Outstanding video! Looking to pick up an AX43 with this mic. I'm not the biggest fan of the mid-high frequency response of this unit compared to the Rodes, however for the price and the fact that AX43 doesn't have a powered mic input (which disqualified a lot of good options unfortunately), I think I'm best with this. I would love the Robes Pro, but for almost double the price, not sure if it's worth.

When I put the microphone 🎤 on my camera shoe....does the camera record sound through the camera or does the camera record through internal sound

The camera will record the sound from the microphone attached to hotshoe if it is a Sony microphone designed for the camera otherwise the camera will use the internal mics of the camera.
