Hybrid Fast Autofocus in itself makes a big difference. I have the AX700 and it has more features and its just all around better. Its worth the price tag. People keep talking about the AX53 image stabilization but thats not even a reasonable comparison. The AX700 does great with image stabilization as I've had no problems with it, the AX53 may have image stabilization being better on it but the AX700 has pro features on it for shooting video and a 1inch sensor for better lighting, detection and processing.
I am a user of this camera (Sony FDR-AX700) and I can say that I am quite disappointed by the fact that many of the focus settings are disabled when recording at 1080 100p. Most are disabled. You can not either use the autofocus mode during slow-motion recording which is very complicated unless you are a professional. In the manual of the camera is indicated with a very small letter. I think they are important points that the user should know and should be warned.
@Johan I use the camera most the time in sports competitions where framerate is more important than 4k. Most of my clients only demand bluray disc, they don't need 4k but they need high slow motion quality in 1080p. This slow motion high quality requires high framerate during recording. A few cameras record in 100p that is the main reason I bought this camera and for the Zeiss lenses too. I think it is a fake to announce some properties in the promotional videos or even in the camera box, like the ones that I told in my previous chat, when they are not available in all the camera modes.
Hi Johan. The camera can not record slow motion under 4k mode. Overall under 1080 100p you can record in slow motion but with these restricitions; 1) each time you record you can only record a 5 seconds (aprox.) long sequence. After this, the camera processes the image for about 10 seconds to generate the slow motion file. During this time it is not possible to record anything. As you can imagine it is obvious that it is not a practical way to record images in slow motion during a football or basketball game. That is the reason why I prefer to record in 1080 100p and then generate slow motion by editing with software (Vegas Pro or Premiere). I know what I have, others may not really know the weak points of the camera and only highlight what Sony is interested in announcing to sell your product. If I share this information is to help others, I think that is the main purpose of any forum.
Where on Earth are 4K60 camcorders at the £500-600 mark?! I've been waiting for a 4K60 camcorder in the $500-1000 price range for about 6 years now. But every year all anyone seems to do is rebrand their 4K30 again. The Sony AX-53 came out very late 2015 / early 2016, are Sony really saying they have no better sensor and processor to make a new camcorder? So instead they just take something off the AX53 and then charge the same price as what you can already pick up the AX53 for anyway. Why is 4K60 taking so long to come out arrive to the price point? Phones and GoPros have been doing 4K60 for years and even moved onto 4K120 and 8K30. When are we going to see Panasonic or Sony bring this to ~£600 price point, like a HC-VX2 or AX63??? They wouldn't need to spend that much money either, keep the lens and OIS and body and everything else the same but just update the sensor and processors to give us 4K60 on H.265. For my use case which is filming low league football, handheld, pitch side you do seem to need a proper dedicated camcorder because the image stabilisation is much better on these plus the electric zooming and super fast focusing. I just wish they brought out 60fps version as I need to slow down clips at times, a 4K60 AX43 or HC-VX1 would be perfect.
Totally agree. I have GoPro6 and GoPro9 and both have 4k60, and GoPro9 is a beast in terms of stabilisations. But I want also a handycam for general recording, and I don’t want to hurt my eyes with jerky 4k30. It is really a stumbling block and I’m not going to buy it because of that limitation. Really sad. 6 years have passed and we still at 4k30.
while the AX53 offers BOSS stabilisation, the AX700 is a semi professional camera and has a 1 inch sensor which offers beautiful video, its "active" stabilisation is quite awesome too
Es wurde nicht erwähnt, dass die Bildstabilisierung der AX-53 deutlich besser ist. It was not mentioned that the image stabilization on the AX53 is significantly better!
Not just HDR but every other feature that is put in it. It is a Prosumer camcord. It has alot of features for having different visuals that suit your needs and has a great Autofocus system that adjusts in 1 second or less. The AX700 also is better in low light. Its a great camera. I have one
Unfortunately, the Sony cameras (amateur) record 25p PAL and 30p in NTSC to get smoother images of moving subjects or during the movements of the lens, you should record at 50p or better 60p or more in HD. Unfortunately it is not possible to do it in 4K which stops at 25p PAL. Even the latest Sony FDR AX-700 records in 4K at 25p PAL and 30p NTSC. all cameras also recent ax-700, do not send the 60p signal to the HDMI socket, so any use of an external recorder is useless. Who owns the FDR model AX100 does not have many reasons to buy a next model.
The image stabilization is not listed and this a very important point, because the AX53 has much better image stabilization, although it's an older and cheaper camera.
Dont buy the AX53 just because of the image stabilization. The AX700 beats that camera by far with all the newly added features, including the Fast Hybrid AutoFocus. If your going to get a camera get the right one that suits your needs. If you just want to record and dont need anything special for Fast Autofocus or better clarity of visuals ect than just get the AX53 since it will give you the things you want without any other features. But if you really want the best you can buy for a good price and want all those extra features for better video shooting and customization than get the AX700 its worth it.
@@johnakridge2916 Because of Covid, I sit at home a lot and watch my old films that were filmed with various SONY or Panasonic camcorders such as DCR-VX1000E, DCR VX9000E, HDR-FX1000E. Compared to the old camcorders, the new AX 700 is no better. On the contrary, the recordings from the old camcorders are much quieter, they wobble less. Sure, the image quality, especially 4K, is significantly better, but the image stabilization is a complete disappointment. I solved the problem by installing a shoulder rest on the FDR-AX700. It's old fashioned, but it works.
I’m trying to decide between the AX 53 and the AX 700. Does anyone know if there is a difference in stabilization between the two when filming in 4K????
Your complaining about the Steadyshot when you have all those features? I have no complaints with the steadyshot as i have one also and it works great for me.
Nice Products buy I still prefer and iphone 14 or even better a galaxy s23 ultra which of course filming a long distance object has nothing to do against Sony ax53 but from a nearby object is amazing the s23 quality.
Only because of software corrections and when viewed on smartphone screens. For serious filming you need a Sony camcorder or mirroles camera - the difference in image quality is huge.
Was für ein Schei….. Video.
I hate these type of comparison videos. Can we get someone...a human being who can just do some old fashioned talking and just explain the differences instead of just showing stats side by side? We can read those stats on Amazon, Ebay, BestBuy, etc.
