I've had mine for over a year. I got it primarily because of the audio input - I take music videos and feed the audio directly off my soundboard. There's a compression algorithm on the audio that's a bit much for my taste but it's still workable. All-in-all, I really like it.

Yea, after using it for sometime I've noticed the same. Doesn't matter if you use an external mic, it still sounds very compressed. I actually prefer the onboard mics vs using external mics on this camera. Thanks for sharing your experience!

i've bought this camera about a year now, and i must say its pretty good, really like the OIS it has. The problem you have had with framerate on your mobile meories app is usually fixed when you turn off the bluetooth on the phone. After that it works like a charm. also sometimes i get muddy image and i couldnt figure out. It seems that i have fixed that when i bought the 100mb/s micro sd memory card which was reccomended by sony...

Troy Rx hey thanks man! I shot all the 4K clips in 24p 100/mbs. Also used this camera a bit on a recent trip to Greece (my last upload) and shot some in 4K 30p. I think 24p is the best.

Hey thank you for the feedback!! At 6:50 in this video you can see a still image. It’s pretty good, but not going to impress you more than a good smartphone. I’d still use my phone for photos and the action cameras for video. Thanks again for the kind words!

Great review, I have been on the fence for weeks on the camera. I also saw the same reviews as you which led me to you. What do you still think about the camera and do you have a dash mount for it?

Heyy thanks Gregory! I've since used the camera a lot more than I expected. The size makes it really practical and discreet when you want to film/vlog in public places, people rarely notice it. I've yet to buy any other accessories for it, because it works so well right out of the box. No dash mount, have only used it handheld in a car and it does pretty well! Thanks for the comment!

Hey thanks bud! Depends what you're using the camera for? Rx0 is better for production use, where'd you be using multiple cameras, with bigger sensors/color profiles. GoPro6 is more comparable to the X3000 in price and specs. The GP6 will give you 4k 60p, which you can't get with the X3000. The Sony gives you optical image stabilization, higher bitrate, and better audio. I'd still recommend the the Sony X3000 because it's cheaper than the GoPro6 and still has advantages over the GP, except 4k 60.

Cool BT i got a few myself 😎 Sooo i am wrestling with the same issue, this cam or a iphone 8 plus or even a iphone 9 when the come out this summer. I really have argued every reason TO buy this cam but come back to the same conclusion which is get an iphone. I dont do water stuff so thats not a reason either. Please advise.... THANKS

MS_inc_1 I love my little BT he’s the best thing ever. I would say, if you need a new phone get that. You’ll get much more video/photo use out of a phone honestly. And the video quality is actually as good or better on iPhone. BUT if your phone is up to date then this camera will not disappoint you!

Without a doubt, it is a great camera that I would love to buy, however I have a big doubt. Regarding the transformation of your videos in 4k or any other scale, did you have problems with the conversion with respect to the work recorded with the final work (already edited)? I mean, did not the final video look lower quality?

Hi Luis! Do you mean how well the video holds up to compression? It records 4k at 100mb/s, which is higher than a GoPro. It holds up pretty well to compression, but nothing like a bigger camera with a big sensor, and bigger files. Ultimately it's going to depend on how you shoot and edit your footage. Hope that answers your question!

I get it. My fear was to record in a great quality and when uploading it to RU-vid, the high quality of the recording will not be reflected. But in the end it is in the way that one edits the video as you told me. Thank you very much ARXV Photo!

i read that the auto-focus works only when held 50cm away from the subject filmed. did you test if it still goes well for close- up filiming? thanks!

You can via wifi, but the clips will not be in 4k however. If you buy an additional SD card reader for your iPad you'll have more playback & editing options. Thanks for stopping by!

first, thank you for the information, I need to know, if I use this camera in a workstation, (Jewellery making I do) how many hours I can have footage with one battery life, and how many minutes I can have in the 1080FDH mode not cutting at all, in 64 GB of memory?

And yes, it's waterproof with the case included in the box. Without the housing it's "splash proof", so I wouldn't put in water without protection

Hey! No problem. There are some videos on YT where people have put it on a drone, but you lose alot of control once you're in the air. So I'd recommend just buying a drone with a camera built in, since you'll have much more control with an all in one unit.

Hey, you say 60 min in 4K XAVCS and 135 min in 1080p MP4 and what about 1080p (30 and 60p) in XAVCS? Have you tried it?Cheers.

Hi Johnny, those are the numbers Sony estimates. I haven't tried it myself but you should expect more than 60mins in 1080p XAVC. Overall battery life is great. Cheers!

Wow, really? I think they estimate those 135 for the lower bitrated mp4, not XAVCS, so I would expect maybe max. ~75% of the battery life in XAVCS compared to non-XAVCS. Will gave to check it out myself. Thanks for the replay, tho!

In low lighting it gets pretty noisy and soft, but still usable. Looks kinda like an iPhone in low light. Sony has become known as making some of the best low light cameras out there, and this one is no exception when compared to the competition. GoPro's as far as I know, are basically unusable in poor lighting. At 0:13 of this video when I look down at my jeans, that was after sunset. Otherwise I'd recommend going to a bigger camera or using lights once it's darker. Hope that helps!

Hey there, at the time of recording it was holding steady at that price. The best I've found right now is $367 on overstock. com. Because the GoPro Hero 6 was only a slight improvement over the 5, Sony has had no reason to lower their price. If you can get it open box or refurbished, you'll be winning!

ah mehedi DJI Osmo mobile? I don’t think so. That gimbal is meant for a mobile phones, and it works really well that way. I’d get a Zhiyun Crane for an action cam/camera setup.

Sidh Jain You just have to eyeball it. Otherwise just set it on a flat surface or on my Joby gorillapod it has a built in level which helps.

Why is this a vlogging camera? The Sony x3000 has the video and stabilization boxes checked, but misses on audio. It gets pass on durability because of the waterproof case. Quality audio is essential for a "vlogging" camera. Pricewise the X3000 with screen and GoPro Hero 5 are even. Not convinced it is a GoPro killer.

Hey there! The GoPro5 is a great option of course; out of the box water-proof is HUGE! However, the audio on the Sony has been proven to be better. Just follow the links to the other reviews I linked, I didn't have a GoPro to compare. Also, just like the GoPro this camera has a mic input. Either way, you can't go wrong with either choice!

The stabilization alone make it a GoPro killer. GoPros don't even actually stabilize in 4K. The Sony is also shooting at 100mbps while the GoPros shoot in a far inferior 60. The on-board mic on the Sony is miles ahead of the GoPro's multi-mic craziness, but I plug a Rode Video Micro directly into it when audio needs more attention (no adapters required like a GoPro). I could go on why it's a GoPro killer? I was a GoPro user since the original HeroHD, but they've really got to up their game now to have me consider a change back.
