if you put the camera in variable shutter (anti flicker) you can set the shutter speed exactly to 48 for 24fps :) - this is something the FX3, A7siii, and a7iv can’t do.
Brother, are you joking me: just received my FX30 yesterday, the timing of this video and the previous FX30 tutorial could not have been any better😁 Keep up the great work!
Attention filmmakers! If you are going to edit your video, make sure your editing software supports the 4:2:2 10-bit video. For an example, the FREE version of Davinci Resolve doesn't have that feature. That's the reason I have to use 4:2:0 8-bit until I have the budget to upgrade to the PAID version.
In case anyone misses their shutter button half press function to AF, this is in an unexpected area of the FX30/FX3 settings. It is disabled with "REC w/ Shutter" on and it's not in the AF/MF menu or Custom Key/Dial Settings.. it's the last item under Settings > Operation Customize > REC w/ Shutter. Hope that's helpful for anyone who realizes it's disabled with these settings!
First question for Matt can I download the same settings for my FX3 that you have for download on the Sony FX30 Also Not sure why I can’t get 24 frames per second on my Sony FX3 I’m trying to match my sony A7S111 with my FX3 after the update on my A7S111 I get 24 frames but not on my FX3? Anybody?
I got the FX30 and was wondering what the difference is between shooting in Slog3 using the Log Shooting Setting on page 4/53 versus selecting Slog3 in the Picture Profile tab on page 19/53? Thank you Matt!!
Hi Matt, I noticed that you only use MR1, MR2 and MR3 when setting up your main pre-sets for frame rates, recording settings etc. Is this because of the problem that after formatting SD cards the M1, M2, M3, M4 pre-set setting are wiped? I have messed around with this and am trying to find a way to use M1, M2, M3, M4. Thanks
fx 30 update to 2.0 reads lexar sd 128gb 270mb/s 1800x class 10 uhs-ii v60 and sd uhs-ii 128gb v60: write speed up to 130mb/s and read speed 250mb/s or sdxc prograde v60 uhs- the 128gb .. or sdxc similar to these listed ?
Great content as always Matt! Happy New Year. If I might add a suggestion for your My Menu? I add Date/Time since I am synching multiple cameras. Hope our paths cross in 2023!
So in this tutorial you went from explaining how to press the menu button to select something into talking about adjusting shutter speed, ISO and aperture without describing how you were doing this...?
the explanations are great and the preset file to get a new user up and running was an amazing gift. Do you have any work around for not be able to capture a custom white balance (apparently not allowed when using a memory setting). thanks for all the tips
Me: "Oh I can just use this video to customize my FX3, it's basically the same pfft". Matt: "Now onto Custom Buttons Setup..." Me: "Don't have that one... leave it blank for now. Don't have that one... don't have that one..." Well done Sony!
Thanks Matt, always my best resource for camera knowledge. I'm having an issue, though. After saving these settings my camera, i'm unable to use my wheels for Av/Iso. They show as locked. And I can't change my Exp Ctrl type because it's already saved for "memory recall."
I don't see anywhwere in the camera's menu system where I change the "HDMI Output" frame rate so that it is a different frame than the frame rate that's being recorded internally by the camera (i.e., HDMI Output set to 60fps, and setting the camera's internal recording to 24fps). Is this not possible with this camera?
I bought an A6700 to use as a gimbal camera/travel camera along side with my FX30. I've set it up similar to your recommended FX30 settings but it would be great to see an A6700 setup guide.
Again an awesome video. Thanks Matt, these fx30 videos are really hel;pfull for beginers like me ( I just bought an fx30 2 month ago as my first camera). By the way, it's probably a stupid question, but I'm taking the responsibility for it :) I mainly bought my FX30 to film dogs in motion. So far, I'm really pleased with the result, but I find one thing a bit inconvenient: the touch focus. It's working great, and I really like it, but I was wondering if I could just activate the autotracking by simply pointing at my subject, then pressing a button, instead of the screen ? Looks like I ve got this option when in Photo mode (something like "tracking flexible spot"... probably a bad translation from my part) , but not in camera mode. Is there a way to configure one of my camera button to act like this ? Thanks
Awesome! I'm also watching your other videos. Although because I do not have a photography background, I'll plan to set my shutter speed and ISO to auto - until I may learn to handle those too.
Hi Matt! Thanks a lot for your videos. Helped me alot when I decided to change to SONY and the FX30. I have seen in other videos that other Sony cameras, ( Fx3 ) has a function called AF/MF selector hold. The way it is used, as I understand it, is to have the camera in MF mode and then when you need you temporally hold the button (AF/MF selector hold) for as long you want AF to kick in. My problem with FX30 is that when the Button is hold it changes to AF, so then you have to push AF/MF toggle to change back to MF. Do you recognice this? Thankful for help! Best regards Petter
Thank you for the in depth content on the FX30! For someone just starting out with the FX30 coming only from an Xperia Pro-I previously, this is super helpful!
5:20 you have variable shutter speed its in the anti flicker settings where you can set shutter speen in .5 values super fine. so you can put the shutter speed to 1/48 for 24p and 120 for 60p, dont ask for things that are not there but use the options given. Yes shutter angle would be awesome but there is an option to set the perfect shutter speed. I wonder if you realy use the fx 30 for work or if you just borrowed it so you can make a yt video. :(
If you watched my menu setup video you’d see that I talked about the anti flicker setting option. Would still prefer shutter angle at least as an option 😜
