I just got this camera a month ago. Everytime I go out to shoot something and bring it back for editing my mind continuously gets blown. I watched too many videos to find this camera as a selection. Then seeing videos of PAID creators saying oh its bad, crop sensor, low light performance. Ignore them because there's no such thing as perfection. If your camera has a flaw learn how to work with the flaw...that's the fine artist in me. But great video, keep them coming.
THIS IS CINEMA! This is the kind of thing thats made me want to dive into the world of cinematography. Capturing feeling and nostalgia is sooo difficult. Aced this
Ho-ly CRAP. I just ordered an FX30 last week and I've been feeling skeptical after seeing reviews on the "terrible lowlight capabilites" the fx30 supposedly has... but you've proved that clearly it's all about how well you can use the dang camera. Amazing footage and editing Roman! You've made me so excited to get my new camera and to get creative! Cheers from Canada.
As an FX 30 user I can tell you that the low-light performance is very good- and the reviewers who trashed it are RU-vidrs- not cinematographers! NO cinematographer gripes about a high native ISO of 2500- in fact that’s something they love!
@@robertaltman222 So glad to hear this! Got mine in the mail yesterday and it's gonna be a bit of a learning curve coming from an a6300, but i'm glad to know this camera is very capable of producing amazing footage all around.
Somehow this video slipped past my view until now. I'm working with a colleague of mine to present four stories to our followers and have them vote for one of the four in a poll. The one that wins will be what we film to completion. It's been a while since I've shot with my FX30. So, I will be shooting some test footage to wrap my head around the FX30 again. After watching this beautiful video of yours, I've realized that your LUTs would work perfectly for (at least) one of the four stories we are developing. Even if this story doesn't win, my friend and I will still film it because we both love the story. Out of all the LUTs I've looked at, I've only purchased a handful. When it comes down to which ones that have the most impact, I always end up on your LUTs. Your LUTs not only have a unique look, but they are also the most cinematic. There's an emotional depth to them that I don't see in any other LUTs. Thanks again for sharing your amazing imagery.
Wow, just wow. Quite possibly one of the best reviews of the FX30 yet, instead of spending 20mins bagging it out for crappy low light, you just sent it. Well done
Same person, From a different channel. You are increíble, my friend. You’re making me think about purchasing the camera. Too bad I can’t purchase your style. You’re the best!
also we are at the point where the FX30 can pretty much do a feature film....go back and watch No Country for Old Men....the FX30 can provide an image with just as much dynamic range if not more...
The main problem with 120/100 fps, depends on your setting in FX 30, 25 oder 24 fps, that the Catalyst Browser wouldn't stabilized your footage and wenn low light-than it comes recognizable noise in video. My way of dying slow motion footage: I using 50 fps setting and afterwards I change speed in FCPX to 25% slower and in "Video Quality"-Optical Flow. First of all- I can stabilize video, it will be less noise. Thx Roman für deine Video!
I have the Sony A7IV and I just purchased the FX30 now. Do you mind if I ask were you using S&Q mode for the slowmo 120 and was it SLOG3 as well or SCINETONE?
Has this camera won you over or do you still prefer the BMPCC4K? Long term lover of the 4K but lately feeling drawn to the FX30 as my 4K starts to age and things start going wrong with it.
Which lens were used for this video? It’s breathtaking. I’m on the fence about getting the FX30 because of the crop and people saying that the 120p isn’t great, but now…I think toss is the one.
Hey Roman, just bought your 22LUT. Question, I see you handle the sony fx30 a lot now. If you should make a indie movie, you'd go for the BMPCC or the Sony (or c70?)? Greets,n
It looks so good. Especially the close-up of the eyes. I use the same lens, but couldn't get any closer than around 30cm at 70mm. Did you zoom in during editing?
Looks great! Are you using Cine EI ( slog 3/ S-Gamut3.cine )? Do you overexpose your shots for sLog3(1.7 or 2.0) as well or keep a 0.0 exposure since you shot this with a F2.8 lens?
Thank you! i think it will most likely replace my bmpcc 4k for a while for sure. this Sony sometimes makes me very angry during filming, but when I see the result, I forgive her everything;) I really liked how the fx30 coped with backlighting, sky and aggressive contrast. in such conditions even bmpcc4k had banding.
What time of setting are you using to shoot this on the fx30? How are you dealing with noise? Is it something you clean up in post? Or do you have a sweet spot setting in low? This looks amazing! I just picked up a fx30, but still trying to find all the best setting for it
Amazing! Im always so impressed with the amount of gorgeous „abstract“ shots… (shots where the subject is only partially in frame or extreme closeups)… i rly. like how „cinematic“ (there, i said it) they appear… and the colorgrading and Music…truly inspiring!
Did you use a steadicam for shooting or did you shoot it with your hands? Steadyshot Active? At the FX30 + e16-55 F2.8 I want to shoot something similar. And your work is excellent! The quintessence of the word "life"...
I'm considering buying your lut, but I have a question. I have a Sony A7 III, can I extract colors even though it is 8 bit? How would you advise me to work with her color profile?
i found your channel because i was searching for BMPCC 4k footages. your videos are great! :) but you're using fx30 now. is it WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY much better than bmpcc 4k? which one do you prefer in doing cinematic videos?
@@RomanHense thank you so much. I love your color grading by the way. Last question are there any cheaper alternatives just for color grading and light editing? If not I’ll probably go with the Apple 14" MacBook Pro (M2 Pro) 16gb.
