Look carefully and judge for yourself.
A NEEWER 216 LED Dimmable Light Panel was dialed down and back up while the cameras recorded at 0db gain, 1/30 second shutter and their lowest aperture settings of 2.8 for the Sony and 1.8 for the Canon.. Both cameras were set to record at their highest quality HD. The resulting videos were synchronized by a hand clap.

How do you guys like this camera? I am thinking about this camera but I was skeptical. I heard it had night vision, is this true? Also, how is the camera for like every day filming of my day and also filming short films. I also read it had a 120fps mode. Hows that??

UnderWaterFilms3 I like them I have 3 Its a little tricky trying to get the color balance on all three to match but im getting better at it. I have to capture in poorly lit conference rooms and they do great in low light you can see some examples on my page.

Goodbye Canon, I gave you too much trust during the last years. I won't go for a 5d mark 3 and all the necessary equipment. This time I buy Sony hdr cx900 and the sony audio kit ECM-XM1 for less than 2000 € I have a fantastic product. Goodbye Canon !

Got my CX900 recently.... great camera! All manual controls, huge sensor etc. Love it!

Wow, the glass on the canon must be crap. Unfair, I say not, the Canon is over $800 bucks, not really your entry level device.

F2.8 vs F1.8? Let's match f-stops equally. What makes the Sony better (but not that better) is it's 1" sensor compared to the Canons 1/3. I've seen better comparisons than this biased one. They're both almost equal in low light, with the canon actually being a bit BETTER. Sony uses an odd format that isn't easy to match with most software for editing.

Wenn zwei Camcorder verglichen werden, dann sollten sie auch in einer fast gleichen Preiklasse angesiedelt sein. Wie ist der Unterschied zum Vorgängermodell, das wäre interessanter.

The test comparation is unfair. The correct comparation is between camcorder with the same price and / or the same sensor size. Canon is the best camcorder here given the price ~ half.

while this test may seem unfair. I was actually trying to consider whether or not to just keep saving more money for the sony (or the canon g30), or just buy the g20 now. I'm now sure that I want to keep saving and keep shooting video with my (canon) 600d for now. I'm still not entirely sure if I'll go for the g30 or the cx900 though. but there will be other tests for that out on youtube.

Hi there! Great to find this test, since I`m trying to figure what is the best choice between Canon XA10 and Sony CX900 ( I can buy both at the same price). I see the advantages from the Sony: bigger sensor (great for lowlight), better resolution, better stabilisation, 120 fps, 60p. Anyway, I think Canon has it`s advantages : better colours ( I think), handdle with xlr included, perhaps better focussing, and it`s F1.8. Tell me please, can you do a test outside, in normal light between this two cameras ) sony cx900 and canon hf g20? Is it Sony some much better, so it`s woth not having the xlr adapter and handle? I intend to use the camera for wedding, and most times the light is very poor. Thank you soo much
