Sony dropped the ball with legend of dragoon guys. They did absolutely no playtesting and released the game in a horrible state. The issues are covered in the video but we NEED to band together as a community to get these issues fixed. Legend of dragoon has some serious bugs on PS4 and PS5

Funny you should say that because the PC emulator runs LoD perfectly with no bugs, and at a higher resolution locked at 60 fps. Perhaps Sony should have done that.

The rewind feature exists for other classics, like the Resident Evil Director's cut. It's incredible for this game since you can practice the attack animations but these bugs need patching pronto.

This’s a travesty to do this to a LEGENDARY game like this, and not have new comers experience Legend of Dragoon in all it’s splendor, mostly with that Dragoon form bug, I didn’t even see that…it’s just wrong to not be able to experience one of the coolest features in the game, especially if you’re a new comer!

A tip if you want to beat the game in the current state: Party: Dart, Lavitz/Albert, Shana/Miranda during all bosses (and let only DART stay alive for each boss to absorb all the EXP). When you are in Disc 4 later you can stop this method if you wish because Haschel, Rose, Kongol and Meru will be high level just like Dart so you don't need to use this method anymore. Dart will be about ~LV 40 at the start of Disc 4 if you killed all optional bosses on the way. I only used Volcano so basically a solo Volcano playthrough. :) Had 0 issues so far, but no dragoon of course.

Quick note to you: it appears that those audio glitches can be fixed by turning from Stereo to Mono. Hope it helps.

I am up to greham and feyrbrand and i can't finish the fight, it locks up when rose uses her vampire magic attack, locks up when dart transforms, locks up when lavits does spinning cane on greham! So irritated right now

I actually managed to use Astral Drain once by continually rewinding until Rose reverted to normal. I finished that battle, but the next battle I ran into in that zone, the enemies did not generate and the starting battle camera just continued to rotate indefinitely putting me into another softlocke. I had to use an item to decrease encounter rate and make it to the next zone. From there battles operated normally, but I dared never use Asteal Drain again which makes boss battles with aoe attacks much riskier without the aoe healing.

I got to the boss battle in the volcano. That big ugly looking thing that the winglies used for defense or whatever and I couldn't make it through bc it was draining my HP so bad and the astral drain is the only thing that can revive all my players at once. So I'm stuck there until Sony fixes those issues.

@@joetroutt7425 I got through that battle fairly easily. Just use d-attacks on the head. Once the head is dead the battle ends. If you can't use d-attqcks then just use additions.

I have had instances where if I had one character in Dragoon form, selecting the dragoon option for another character locks the fight similar to when you use almost all dragoon magic. The exception being Dart. I can use his magic without any issues.

I was so hyped for the game to be able to play on a newer console that I was hoping a remaster but obviously didn't happen. I loved the story and everything (except addition sometimes lol). When I first used darts dragoon it worked fine magic and all, but once I got into rose, it just soft locked. Very sad to know it's a huge issue. Sony please fix this.

Curious but how far are you in the game and exactly what lvl is your rose on?? I'm asking because my whole party is on lvl 11 (except Shana) and I'm on the drake fight and my rose hasn't received any new additions to her abilities but everyone else has like three or four.

Thank you for posting this. I was / am so insanely excited about this coming, I haven’t played the game since I was like 8, and it just made me sad when I saw an article about these issues, as I hadn’t gotten a chance to boot it up yet. A part of me wanted this rerelease to be a HUGE success so Sony would maybe consider doing a full on remake a la Final Fantasy 7 Remake etc. Full quality. I’m hoping they realize there’s a really dedicated fan base behind this.

I absolutely do not want to them to remake this guy. They're clearly incompetent. They can't even re-release the old game, let alone make a brand new one. They didn't even add anything cool or new to the old game. In fact, they released a significantly worse version of it! They couldn't make a satisfactory remake if their lives depended on it. They did it back then with bad marketing, bad release timing and bad translation/dubbing in some languages, and they're doing it again now. This game deserve a huge AAA Remake and they instead do a half ass port. I'm starting to hate Sony now. Please guys, keep in mind that this is in Sony's hands. I have the same bug with the softlock after the dragoon spells (only spells, not normal attack in dragoon form), however I got also a much more game breaking bug: in the area dragon's nest (hope the name is correct, I'm not playing in English, so dragon's nest is the litteral translation) as soon as a random encounter happens the screen turns black and softlocks. Because it's impossible to avoid random encounters you can't play any further. Very sad, I was even willing to play the whole game without spells and now this. Hopefully they fix it soon.

Sony released a version update today 2/27/2023 and fixed the dragoon magic bug as far as I can tell. I only tested it once but Rose immediately reverted to normal after using Astral Drain. It looks promising and playable now.

You didn't seem to watch the video. Because I specifically mention that and show case doing that..but sadly it only works for 2 hours and sometimes it doesn't work and you have to restart the console.

There's some upside... some bosses give better drops when Dragoons are not used during the battle. I got the Bandit's Ring for beating Drake, the Plate Mail for beating Feyrbrand, and the Dragon Shield for beating The Divine Dragon all in 1 playthrough.

This problem is huge! I summoned Rose’s dragoon and used her magic which was dope, but locked the battle to a standstill after. Makes the game’s biggest mechanic completely useless! 😩

So it turns out. That LOD has always had this issue on certain model PS1s and PS2s. PS3 worked fine because it has hardware backwards compatibility. Whereas PS4 and PS5 have software backwards compatibility. It's a software issue they have to configure

I’ve been begging for a remake or a release of Legend of Dragoon for decades now and I didn’t even know about the other release in 2012 until your video!! If I buy it with the current bugs would a potential patch released later fix them upon an update or am I best off waiting to see if it gets fixed before I buy it? This was legit one of the very few PS1 games I obsessed over when I was in middle school when PS1 was what we had at the time lol hardly any one I knew cared about it, it was rough being such a huge fan of something that seemed to be constantly shadowed by FFVII😂 legend of dragoon was such an underrated pleasure

Found a different bug. A random battle is initiated with the screen wipe where it dissolves from the bottom up then nothing… just a black screen. Tried rewinding, reloading, restarting the game, restarting the ps5. It’s unplayable now. Searched the comments here and didn’t see this issue listed. The softblocking isn't just tied to dragoon attacks, I also get it when using healing items 😒 my other issue is after defeating Emperor Doel going into softlock

Personally I haven't had any issues with the rewind feature, but the graphics blinking out and the absence of voices. But I just beat firebird and only had one lock where after I saved a battle started and for 15 minutes I stared at a black screen . Otherwise so happy about the game being on ps5, one of the few games I kept my ps1 for

Ive been playing this game(first timer) for a while now and as soon as i arrived to the winglies the combat with the additions does not work anymore. Ive tried pressing the button far away, middle and very close. It does not work! It sucks because i really like this game 😩 So is it anyone that had/have this problem? And what did you do?

Everytime I use Rose's Astra drain, the game freezes and I have to use rewind to go back before the battle and save then restart the game. It happens every single time without fail. To fix this, change dragoon transformation to short

Another bug that I discovered last night. After using Rose death dimension she return to normal like normal. The bug will come to the next battle where the screen will turn black and with no sound.

What about the weird green lines around some of the backgrounds (I.e. trees, bushes, buildings). These weird graphical issues bother me, I’m surprised you didn’t mention that in the video.

@@seymourButtes420 I actually just recently beat the game on my ps1 with original game discs, the graphical issues were not present. Now, there were issues with dragoon form when playing the game on some PS2 consoles (I ran into that which is why I switched to playing on a ps1 console). So those might have been in the original code. I think the game in general has issues with emulation, whether is the ps2 doing it, or the ps5.

Well what I found out was when I was on the boss fight with emperor doel. When I used the dragoon magic with dart the final burst. Like three times. And it did went though. And after a few plays and manage to beat the boss the game goes into a complete endless black screen. And I was unable to continue the game. So disappointing. 😔

I will say one thing the audio glitch has been an issue at least on the psvita maybe on ps3 for a long long time so this issue isn't new and probably went unnoticed by most people besides a handful of people like myself that regularly play the game though it's worse then it was before As for Rose in particular that is new

On top of this, PS Now, which is available on PC, now REQUIRES you use a DualShock controller even though the game was made years before it and every game up to this point was optional. You may not have had access to features that needed the touchpad, but without it you can’t even launch Legend of Dragoon.

So the softlock problems are not just from using Dragoons or items. For me, it's been occuring even after regular attacks, so basically when it's about to be the next party members turn. Rewind doesn't fix it, and restarting the console doesn't work either. I'm stuck in that second battle with Fruegel, and I can no longer progress through the game.

I was hoping to play this after Final Fantasy 9 since I've been catching up on all the JRPGs I missed out on being primarily an Xbox player, but it's sad to see that there are potentially gamebreaking bugs in this release. Hopefully they fix this release before I finish FF10 otherwise I might just dig out my PS3 and buy the PSOne Classics version.

I beat it several times on vita and ps3. The ps5 version has a ton of inherit lag (battle screen always lags while loading too) and background textures keep bugging with white lines.

Just hit my first soft lock while fighting Feyrbrand. I didn’t even know about the rewind. I had to figure out how to do it. I’m so pissed Sony released this game this way. It’s unacceptable. Also, I had it for PS3 on my account and for some reason it wasn’t free for me 😒

The reason it's so buggy is cuz they just ported over the digital code from the PSVita/3 store. These wouldn't exist if they just uploaded it to the Ps4/5 store from an original copy of the discs. Certain code must've got muddled upon transfer. Like the code isn't read the same on different hardware.

After doing more research. These problems existed on the OG LOD for certain PS1 models. The games actual coding is done weird. Some model PS2s had errors as well. PS3 had hardware backwards compat so it worked really well through disc and digital. But for PS4 and PS5 they are basing it off software emulation which they didn't even test. Even on my own playthroughs the game would crash on emulator from time to time. It's just a weird situation really

@BltzZ I sorta figured it might be something about emulation. I still have my ps1 copy, pre greatest hits edition, and I've never experienced these glitches. On ps1 or ps2. Come to think of it, the addition name voice being cut off, mightve happened once or twice in the 20 years I've been playing it. But not consistently like the Ps4 version. I wonder now, if what you said about some copies might be why. Just that it's less notable when run on og hardware? Interesting.

Wow! I had this game on ps3 through psn and I never had an issue with. I'm currently playing it on my ps5 and am only a few hours in so I haven't seen this yet but very disappointed they let this get by. FIX IT SONY!
