The latest report comes from Russian journalist Anton Logvinov (via ResetEra), who first leaked Death Stranding and Horizon Zero Dawn PC ports prior to their announcements. There’s some skepticism about Logvinov’s reporting, so take this rumor with a grain of salt. However, known leaker MooresLawIsDead (MLID) - who first leaked PS5 Pro specs - is also convinced that a PS Vita-esque system is coming.
Logvinov claims that the “PSP” like handheld will support PS4 games at launch. He also likened the device to Steam Deck, which somewhat aligns with what MLID said back in February.
MLID claimed that the handheld will feature a custom AMD Accelerated Processing Unit, and will be backwards compatible with digital PS4 games as well as PS5 games with a “Pro-like patch applied.” He further suggested that the device will be part of PlayStation’s next-gen hardware family, possibly launching with or after the PS6.

The PS2 library of games in particular has been sparce when it comes to PlayStation Plus Premium options, but if a new leak means what PlayStation fans think it does, that drought may finally be coming to an end soon.
That's because a classic Star Wars game from the PS2 era just popped up on the PlayStation Store recently with a promising listing that indicated it was planned for the PS4 and PS5 consoles. For context, PS2 games playable on modern consoles have so far been restricted to PS4 versions of the games that also happened to be playable on the PS5, so the newly discovered listing for Star Wars: The Clone Wars is even more exciting given that the listing has it down for both the PS4 and PS5.
PlayStation Store tracker PS Deals (via Gematsu) initially shared news of the PS4 and PS5 listings for Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The game was originally published by LucasArts with Pandemic Studios as the developer, though the new PlayStation Store listing for the game has Disney Interactive Studios as the publisher.
ORIGINAL STORY
It looks as though the PS5 may be getting a wave of classic PlayStation 2 games in the not-so-distant future. This info comes courtesy of a company called Implicit Conversions, which claims on its website to be working alongside Sony Interactive Entertainment to bring retro games to modern consoles.
The company has already brought various PS1 and PSP games to modern Sony consoles via the PlayStation Plus Premium Classics collection (including Resistance: Retribtuion and Jet Moto 2 last month). However, statements that have recently popped up on company socials indicate that the PS2 is now on its radar, which is potentially good news for those who haven't played around with 6th gen classics.

The Ive followed AMD since the K6-2 cpu days... The AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme Processor exists It is 8c/16t zen3 with 12 rdna3 CU's the chip is in 3+ gaming handhelds. Now seeing how sony is sticking to zen2 for the ps5 pro with rdna 3.5 and has some upscaling tech in the works. I would suspect a 8c/16t zen2 with 12-18 Rdna3.5 CU's. it makes zero sense to make a ps4 portable at this time it has to be a ps5 portable. i would expect an announcement at the same time the ps5 pro is announced.

The PSP used memory stick pro duo cards, which were a Sony proprietary technology, that eventually got licensed out and reverse engineered, but without the magicgate DRM. They were at least used in Sony digital cameras at the time though. The vita cards were completely proprietary. Both were efforts to fight piracy, and it did work for a while.

I love my portal. I personally connected my PS5 and Portal both to my cellphone Hotspot and it worked flawlessly in our Hotel while in South Padre last week. Just throwing that out there as a suggestion. But I am curious how it would have ran if my PS5 was left physically at my house connected via home Ethernet connection. I may try that next time to test out

The only thing that confuses me and is the burning question about a potential handheld is how physical game libraries will work? Will it be like the PS5 digital edition approach in making previously physical collections a digitally accessible library? I'd be pissed paying for the same game twice for the sake of having a handheld.

I think if the disc is in the PS5 while it's in sleep mode, you should be able to stream it if possible or play a downloaded version as long as the disc is in the system.

Considering how hard they are pushing digital only these days surely, if they wanted more people to go for that option, why not treat it like the ps3 where physical games could be downloaded once a disc was inserted and give you the option to play either way.

I agree with you, it should definitely be like PS3 games where if you bought the disc, you had access to the digital version and Sony already proved at the beginning of this gen they could still do that (upgrading some games to a PS5 version if you had bought the PS4 version). They would just prefer to try and get people to double buy the game alongside their hardware, and get those extra $’s in the bank multiple times over then care about the consumer.

I'm using the Xreal glasses. I like them the best because they look like Rayban sunglasses, and the cord isn't uncomfortable. PS5, PS4,PS3, Xbox Series, Steam Deck, and ROG Ally all work with mine.

That was never the case on any other Sony device. I was able to redownload all of my PSP games onto my vita for free, all of my PS1 games on to my PSP, PS3, and vita, and all of my PS4 games on PS5.

Somewhat unrelated but still something Sony related is, The real news I'm waiting for is when the next update for Ps4 is cuz I've read online that people to installed 11.50 had the console go into a reboot loop or had some games have some issues when there weren't. I've no idea if those that have had these systems issues had their consoles be jailbroken or not but I've held off in installing 11.50 ever since it dropped way back. Can someone please tell if 11.50 is even safe at all since this is the first time my cousin has heard of this issue happening even before he gave me his Ps4 since he doesn't use it anymore

There are some games that were cult classics but aren't available on the ps store. If it's the latter, then I don't think I'll buy a ps5, even if I have the income.

Ps portal had the potential to replace the vita/psp Sony fumbled the bag on that one.. everything about the Portal is perfect except that it's a remote play device only and it doesn't have a browser to access wifi anywhere. People who say this don't know much about game development... Games aren't really "held back" just because they can be down scaled a bit to run on the PS4, the PS4 isn't that weak tbh. And most upscaling tech can easily work on any content hitting 720p and upscale it to 4k, and a lot of PS4 games are in 1080p... That's not even hard development, it's just plugging in and flipping on DLSS or FSR. The real reason most games this gen suck and struggle to run is because developers are being bent over by unrealistic expectations with scope and deadlines. Most modern games code is... Tragic, a sloppy mess.

What sucks about handhelds these days is not being able to play without being online. The portal simply lags in that area and could be easily fixed. In essence, I'd rather have a handheld with separate games that you can play ANYWHERE. on an airplane, while camping, etc. So sick of this online crap. Ghosts of Tsushima is the best game I've ever played on any system. I'm a PVE player and hope Sucker Punch knocks it out of the park with another Ghosts.

QUESTION : I updated to PS5 a couple months ago and followed Sony's website's instructions on getting all my ps4 data over to my ps5.. everything weekend but 3 games didn't transfer. FC2024, gta v, and Diablo 4..i called customer service and even talked to the main supervisor who was a girl and totally didn't even understand how to work PS Software. She literally said OUT LOUD TO ME, "yes sir, i can see where you have purchased it. (Diablo 4) then straight up refuses to help me and told me i "need to do the research" and it wasn't her job, etc.. ended with me saying, "Okay, may i speak to YOUR supervisor please?) AND she HUNG UP ON ME!? PLEASE 🙏 WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS TO GO FORWARD WITH SONY????😢

The PS handheld is too little too late even based off the rumors. I highly doubt that PS will give physical game customers the ability to play their games digitally on the device, since it will be a digital only handheld. Why invest into digital games on PS on top of the physical games already purchased? The device is years late, since the NSW hit the market they needed to have a competitor. Now we are 2 years into the Steam Deck and windows handhleds have become well established but there has been no official mention of the vaporware PS handheld. Time is valuable and waiting around for PS to give players the option to hybrid game is not the play. The device would have been more appealing 3 years ago but many of use moved to PC to have access to flexible gaming and out of the grasp of PSN for online and cloudsaves. All of this is mainly appicable to physical owners, though waiting this long to tackle your library away from home is still impacting anyone with this need on PS.

I love portable gadgets, and the PSP is my favorite console of all times! Thus I have a GPD WIN 4 with all my PSP, music and music videos library. This was the function I most loved of the PSP, being able to listen to my music and watch videos on the go. The Vita made a convoluted mess with in the media side of it -video, and games ran disappointingly. It's more than obvious that the next iteration would have at least streaming services like RU-vid, Netflix and Spotify. So I'm expecting a convoluted mess in the connectivity side (look at the Portal) and no local media capabilities. That being said, I believe they are over 6 YEARS late, and I'm personally looking forward for next Deck and Steam OS on more devices. So F Microsoft & Windows and F Sony..... Don't crouch laughing behind your console little Nintendo, I have it, but F you too!!......... and F Google & Android for good measure! If I need to start citing reasons why, this post will never end, nuff saying F them ALL! And NO, Valve just happens to be the least BAD of them all, but F it too!

Im telling you guys without sony there is nothing on pc to play like 3rd person action/adventure /open world with cinematography, AAA graphics, great music, gameplay. Mostly everything comes from sony. Microsoft cant get higher than AA and Nintendo is keeping everything only on theyre consoles. So pc players thank sony that they exist and that we sony/playstation customers support them. Otherwise you folks would still play COD, Minecraft, Souls Games and indie games. Peace ✌ Gaming People.
