Thanks for the valuable information. I was able to fix my PVM by adjusting the trimmer cap for NTSC.👍

Thank you for the great video! I fixed my 9044QM by just turning the trimmers with a NTSC and PAL signal. The picture is very stable now. If the the colour ever goes away again i'll apply the fix, but the original orange trimmers do the job just fine for now..

Same here! It seems that half of the range Is completely black and white and the other half is fine. I still ordered some parts because it will probably go out eventually haha

Thank you so much for the video, I have a monitor that has been having some problems like this one so I'll give it a try. I have another monitor (a pvm 5041q) that started similar to this one and I haven't been able to figure it out why is it failing, it used to show the right image but with just one of the 3 primary colors, for example I would be able to play with retro consoles on it but it was onli showing red in different levels of intensity, but now it only shows solid green with no actual image of the games, when I opened it up and made it work while opened I saw some smoke comming out of the from the are closer to the botom right of the screen on the B board, so I think the problem might be over there. I tried reflowing some of the connections that looked weird, but with no luck.

Hey! A question! i just looked in my 9044D. I have those bad capasitors but i also get pink/purple hue in all the whites and purple shadows around text. Does this replacement fix both?

I have an 8040 that is showing all green. Not sure if this repair has been done but It seems i'll find out soon enough.

Hi my pvm I just bought randomly went black and white and then after maybe 30 minutes went back to color. Should I be worried? I’ve never had to solder anything before and the idea of opening mine up and soldering it scares me. I bought mine for a pretty good price but it was still expensive. The guy I got it from hadn’t used it in a long time

Does it need to be variable? Can we just replace them with ceramic capacitors outright?

I was trying to look into that issue myself (having recently bought a 9041QM with the same fault, only SECAM would work) when you happened to upload this video just in time. That is incredibly nice of you. However, it looks like the links are currently private, is it normal? I was able to find bulletin E-BVM-059 easily by googling but it looks like your video is the only place on the internet mentioning 1998 019r2.

Replaced these on a 8044q and I am still getting black and white video on a and b. I reflowed and refreshed solder on all connectors and leads and even tried hot air. Pressing the blue only button only slightly changes the hue but otherwise it’s stuck in black and white. I feel like something isn’t processing the signal correctly.

Before replacing the trimmers, was the picture B&W all the time? Also, is your RGB is signal in colour or not?

@@rgbrob yes before changing it was black and white on all inputs. It used to have color before, then suddenly stopped and now is stuck black and white. I have a larger 1344q I was comparing the black white when selecting blue only, and they are noticeably different. Anything else I could be looking at bad transistor? I’ll check RGB in the morning when I get back to my shop. Thanks for the reply!

Thanks, I have a pvm 1450qm .. not showing color on pal consoles ! Only on ntsc consoles (in line a/b) ... But in rgb mode the colors working on both pal & ntsc consoles ... is that nature of the pvm or there is a problem

Hi Mate! Your video just saved my PVM from its color loss! However, though the color has been restored I noticed that the black is not actually black, it has this red tint to it.. Furthermore, I still see some horizontal fuzzy lines and the image isn't that sharp. Lastly, there is this weird shadows behind texts. Do you have any idea on what may cause these problems? I have the same issue on my svideo line sometimes. But also the rgb line loses the red line sometimes. 2950Q

@@rgbrob Hi Rob, sent you an email too. Concerned because I have a different monitor 8044Q, and part number for the trimmer seems different than yours, so I am thinking I may mess up if I use a 10pF one, but I cannot find the bulletin anywhere.
