This is a great overview with fantastic production value. Thanks for not only telling, but showing the ins and outs of this camera. I've been researching for weeks, and this was very helpful.
Tony & Chelsea Northrup Why you guys stop reviewing DJI and would you review GoPro 7? Again In the days we are living, please someone let Sony knows we need 4K 60 fps, stabilized, and touchscreen, well done for the 1” and the articulated screen( but only in for 1’? Is that a joke?) . Sony = Tonto!
I love your style in your presentation. You were able to highlight all the sophisticated features of the camera while remaining humble enough to not loose the layman like myself.
My first gut reaction is this is *almost* the perfect vlogging camera for action sports content creators. It's much more robust, waterproof, and shock resistant than a RX100 and much smaller. I say almost because they really need to get AF-C on this and 4k exporting with IS. Though, if Sony was reading my comment, I'd ask them to take the RX0 body and shove the x3000 internals into it as a prosumer version of an action camera; the RX0 Sport. Wide angle RX0 that has the smaller sensor but OIS + the fancy digital IS if needed. The super long form factor of the X3000 made it annoying for POV because it was always in the way.
Reality is that it suffers serious rolling shutter and when using stabilization it zooms in! Bad AF as well? Trust me a Gopro or even a smartphone could do just as good a job if not better. this camera is not meant to be moving around.
@@robert7622 with the 1" sensor, for sure. What I'm saying is they should take the body and processor of the RX0 and put the optics and sensor of the X3000 in it. Smaller sensor would resolve the rolling shutter, and OIS would take care of most shaking. Having an extra digital IS option would be great for smoothing out the footage a bit more if you'd like. That setup would even have no need for AF, less to process so could run cooler or have more shooting options. This is why I feel they should have two versions. The RX0, and then a RX0 "sport" with different sensor optics made for different use cases.
OMG WOWOWOW Ladies & Gentlemen This is "THE'" Best review of Sony rxo you wont gona find the excellent review in excellent quality anywhere else and as usual this comment is before watching the video now let me grab my snacks sit back and enjoy the video
Once again, a great review of the product. You've got the best reviews of products. I wish I could afford the things you review... Keep up the excellent work.
@@ethaningoa7461 but worse stabiliation... and the one inch sensor is really mostly obvios in low light, and most people dont use action cams in lowlight :)
Very thorough (yet compact) review, excellent production and editing. I have to say the thing i appreciate most is the "grading". There seems to be an obsession with the "log" look among many video folks, with the delusion that muddy and flat somehow looks like "film". I have no idea where that came from. I did not shoot much movie film in my 30 years or so as a photographer before the dawning of the digital age, but I shot a ton of still film and, as said, I am baffled. You do not seem to have fallen into that trap.
What are you talking about? Which trap? There is no trap. Either you didn’t understand the reason to shoot flat, or your sources are rubbish. People who know what they are doing do not shoot flat “because” it looks cinematic, but rather “in order to” make it look cinematic. Which is entirely different. Shooting flat means that you don’t get the processing done in-camera but rather in post (where the “cinematic” look is achieved). It is the analogous equivalent of shooting in raw for low-end video cameras.
Man, this was another top notch review! Great shots, really in-depth look and understanding. I mean, I can appreciate Kai (ex-DigitalREV), but his video on the RX0 II was useless in comparison! Well done!
This is a really tempting device - the price though, is a little hard to stomach, and I'm not convinced by the electronic stabilization features. Having to export the footage to a phone app in order to stabilize it seems like a hassle, and from what I see here it doesn't look as good as what the GoPro 7 can do in camera.
Nice review! I appreciate someone who knows what they are talking about, knows how to put together a good video, AND has a sense of humor. What more could you ask for?
So, here's the one question I have... Is the stabilization worth its salt if you don't run your workflow through the App? Is there any other way to apply the gyro / accelerometer data to the video? I honestly don't mind the 1080 output, but adding the mobile device app into workflow to get reasonable stabilization may just be a deal breaker. Inquiring minds want to know...
Fun fact: Sets whether to turn off the monitor automatically after approximately one minute without any operations by the user when recording movies. MENU → (Camera Settings2) → [Mon. Off dur REC] → desired setting.
Hi, Sorry i dont get the point with the screen off thing... What yaou mean with that?? Did i understood this correctly, that the scrren will turn off during recording a video?.. Thanks and selamlar Levent...
Another top notch review from one ‘underrated’ you tuber ! Intro 10/10 - how other you tubers have millions more subscribers baffles me, so skewed mixed up !
Yeah I'm not sure this is $240 better than the FDR3000, I guess you have to ask yourself how bad you need a flip screen because it pretty much does everything this RX0 II does.
I am torn between this camera and now the DJI Action camera. Since you reviewed both cameras then perhaps you can post your comments about the pros and cons of one over the other.
Me: I can't wait to go to bed now but let me check RU-vid first reaaaalllll quick iPhonedo: *uploads* Me: *screams internally* I JUST WANT TO SLEEP! Granted it's my fault I'm 3 hours late BUT STILL
I would like to take one Mountain Biking and see how it does with all the vibrations we get. Also skiing, No one they give cameras to ever tests them in tough conditions!
So.... how does the app work? does the app have to be turned on when you are recording for it to apply the PHONES gyroscope data? or does the camera have its own gyroscope and the app "activates" the data in the actual video?
awesome little camera, I love'd the look of the first one it was just lacking too many features, the only disappointing thing with this one is the lack of AF-c. does anyone know if you can charge it up via usb into the device?
I really have to say..........Sony seems to be actually listening to their customers these days, and actually taking note of what people are complaining about with previous products. I was thinking about getting an action camera and this could be perfect for what I want it for :)
HEY HEY NOW Excellent review I been waiting for a new version of the RXO, I might use this as my third camera...built in 4k30 plus electronic stability great update!!!
