Excellent review/comparison. I use a similar set up for RX0ii with a cage and wide angle adapter. Same you showed Sony VCL-HG0737C which is super wide but mostly I use Ulanzi WL-1 which is not a super wide but produce good image quality. And after I process the video in catalyst browse to make it stable and it crops back the image to aprox 24mm (depending of how much stabilization I want). Its some extra steps for making the video stable, but worht it imo. But sure, I wish Sony could process all this in the camera. If I want "tele" I also use a 2x tele adapter, Im looking for one tele of good quality since most of them that I been using have very bad sharpnes at the corners. Dont see it as a problem as for now since after I put it in Catalyst Browze the corners will be croped away. A cage has a big benefit of decipating heat. I been shooting 30min straight in +37c without any problems. Also it more easy to mounth a external mic if you use a cage. A tip for vloggers, do prefocus and put one of the screen button as a button where you can switch between NEAR and NORMAL focus mood. Also add a powerbank battery grip and you only need one battery :-)
Thank you so much for the breadth of comparison that you took the time to perform and share with us, especially the differences between the key specs. It was very helpful to me and affirmed my decision on the camera to Go’ with. Much appreciated!
If you buy the Sony RMT-P1BT Remote Control Bluetooth for the camera you can control the focus at any time manual from a far what is very useful to have when pointing camera in video plus zoom in and out and take photos mode and you can also buy battery for the rx0 I Nikon MH-66 / NIK-EL 19 work on Rx0ii as well Capacity: 1200mAh and I even find some 1800 AH and 2000 AH too
GoPro has one thing that no other options have. Hindsight. Without that, either you will miss the moment or recording files are overwhelming. That is why I cannot dump this stupid camera and I hate it but I have to keep using it. I carry both GoPro and rx0m2. Whenever it is available, I use rx. But the GoPro is always on with Hindsight and Volta battery grip.
Thank you so much for this in-depth and detailed comparison The Sony RX0 II is extremely tempting and looks more versatile in terms of how it could shift from casual to professional situations. Sony should *_DEFINITELY_* create an update version of their Action Camera line, the FDR X3000 line - that camera is 6 years old and is STILL extremely comparable to even the most recent GoPros. It also seen a resurgence in popularity as it is a heavily sought solution for streaming. Imagine an updated 2022 version of that action cam... It would be the best ever. The image quality, even while released 6 years ago, is still spectacular, the sound is the best on ANY action camera, the image stabilisation solid (all lens, not digital!) and the form factor is great. But back on topic, the RX0 II moved up on my list thanks to your video!
Agreed. Adding stabilization on par with GoPro, removing the crop mode using the full width of it's 1 inch sensor, better battery, intuitive menu system, quick capture and using a wider FOV like 16-20mm will make this camera a winner!
@@SuchanBajracharya _(Thanks for such a quick reply!)_ Quick questions - Would you say the RX0 II performs well in low light? - Do you think the RX0 II could work as an in-studio/indoor set talk show set up? 2-3 camera setup that could focus on 3 different angles of capture _(they'd also be connected to monitors)_
@@ProtoMarcus My pleasure. RX0II is just ok in low light but better than gopro. You will need proper lighting setup for sure. I use it mostly in daylight hour outdoor
TThank you very much for your video. It is very disappointing . Sony doesn't keep tradition like GoPro. Sony is a huge manufacturer but behaves like a truck. Sony's superior sensor cannot compete with GoPro's many advantages.
Great review. I love the rx0ii but I use it more for photos near or in the water. That’s where it wins for me. For video I like the 1080p 60fps. The catalyst browser is just a pain but it does work. Only a few will like the rx0 most will not like it. Very expense and not user friendly. Also I don’t. Think Sony will update this camera. I don’t think it was very successful for them most people didn’t understand it and try to use it like a GoPro. I bet they come out with something completely different years from now. More in the action cam world like they used to have. Anyway
Would you still recommend this camera or would you buy the gopro hero 12 (that's coming soon). I'm looking for a all in one small camera that can go into the water for my vacation videos (short clips edited together). It should go in sea water too.
Yes it is recommended for all in one package Sony is a good deal with mic input and waterproofing but it lacks better stabilization and wider FOV. You can use catalyst browse to stabilize it in post. If you don't want to bother with it then go for GoPro and see what they have to offer for version 12. I will also recommend DJI Action 2, check out this video for detail: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PrDDc3J0KqQ.html
The Sony RX0 II is a DSC == Digital Stand Camera and != an action camera. You are comparing an Mercedes GL against an Mercedes S class. This is really wrong, sorry.
I dont understand why ReelSteady has to be purchased in the software I tought it was already a feature that the camera has. It feels kinda like a ripoff tbh. can someone explain?
Yes that's what I thought too! Luckily I already had purchased a license for the old ReelSteady app prior to GoPro acquisition which worked for me. I personally think it should be free too 🤔
@@SuchanBajracharya Thank you very much, a really useful video! I wish you and everyone a successful, beautiful day and a pleasant weekend, in strength, health and peace! I wish you good luck! 👍🍀🇭🇺🌞☝️
One is an action camera... The other is NOT an action camera (but a very durable compact camera)... Comparing apples and oranges will do people no good. Each person picks what it want the most based on one's own needs.
That is true but depends on the use case scenario. If only Sony used a little wider focal length with in-body stabilization like GoPro's HyperSmooth we will be seeing a lot many users, vloggers and videographers using it.
@@SuchanBajracharya They need they RX ZERO MACH 3 to be MUCH wider if it is to succeed. I don't think any action cams have in body stabilisation. Pretty sure that "hyper smooth" is just the gopro name for Electronic stablisation. But yes, Sony needs to target this market segment for the Mach 3.
