Sony's first google assistant integrated smart speaker, the Sony LF-S50G is a great alternative to the original google home. I'm not the biggest fan of the Google Home cause of poor sound quality and limited physical controls. But the Sony's Google assistant smart speaker gives you full control with gestures, improved sound quality and an LED display on the front.

There's one thing that I love about Sony products, a lot of their products has a NFC reader, which is much faster than pairing your device via bluetooth.

I was tempted to get this earlier this year but I'm glad I waited out for the launch of smart displays instead. I ended up buying a Lenovo Smart Display and I've no regrets! The screen definitely adds a whole load of extra functions, especially RU-vid and recipe help. Not sure how it compares with this sony speaker in terms of audio quality but I'm quite pleased with the sound so far.

What sony could do is scroll the month and date on that display, along with the time. It could be done with a firmware update.

FYI You can adjust the bass and treble via the google home app for the google home. I reduced my bass quite a bit to make it more bearable. Great review though!!! Answered most of my questions! Thanks!

yeah you can command it to set an alarm for whatever time just make sure the volume is up loud enough to where you'll think it'll wake you up it gets really loud

Costco currently has this for $70 until the end of December. I have to disagree with the reviewer on one point in particular. It is far easier to use voice controls instead of gestures especially when this item is across the room from you and you are using it to play music.

I dunno about in-person, but the Sony definitely sounded better than the JBL in the video. The JBL sounded somewhat muffled in comparison, while the Sony had nice breath and warmth

THREE YEARS LATER....Its a google device so just say volume up or volume down. You can say volume 8 (10 is max) or volume 7 or whatever. I cast it via Wi-Fi from you tube so theres no track changing. My friend has a Amazon something the same size and it is better than my sony. Other than music it is a google device so it will do all the google commands. I have not used it operate devices though it is capable. Allegedly . I dont think the volume is loud enough and I would love some control like bass and treble. I would give it 7 out 10.
