I was debating on the 9000es or kenwood dd8xr or alpine ilx507

Crutchfield shows the 9000ES is the only double din radio that fits my 2021 VW Jetta. I've never used a sony radio before so hope I like it.

Can the 8500/9000/9500 recievers do a center channel upmix?

Yeah I put the 9000 into a 2007 Ford Focus, really did not want that huge screen on my dash and have a bit of stealth to go along. The size really is quite good and the radio is amazing.

I'm so glad they came out with the 9000. It will be in my 4Runner. I prefer it to a floating screen getting in the way of vents and controls. Love the understated looks and matte bezel. Of course sound quality is what matters most and they nailed it with this series. I'd love to see a model in the ES line without an onboard amplifier, 3 way active crossover, coaxial digital output and a companion 7 channel staggered power amplifier with coaxial digital input. I'd pair that with the ES 3-way components, two 10" ES subs and rock on down the road.

I bought the 6000 roughly when this video came out and I was throughly disappointed with it. Nothing but constant connection problems almost everyday. Some days it was to the point where I couldn’t listen to my music for more than 5seconds b4 CarPlay would disconnect again. Checked with Reddit and it seems to be a common issue. I’ve since returned it and trading up to the 9000es in hopes of a better experience. If not, I’m going to alpine

How does it not support HD radio 🤷‍♂ doesn't this seems weird in 2024 from a top of the line, audio focused head unit...

upgraded to the es9500 from a pioneer p80rs, and i prefer the pioneer. yeah the specs on paper is all hi res and what not, but coming from a already high end hu does not do it for me. and there's no digital out for external dsp. really disappointed
