I just watched a video about the xg300. One thing i noticed is that, both reviewers lightly complained about how big it is. I'm 52 and when i was a kid, boom boxes had to be big. I want this to be big, portable and Bluetooth.
Nuff said, I’m a boombox collector old and new, but for the newer boomboxes, I’ve actively sold or gave away boomboxes with no USB or SD/TF options, while I love Bluetooth enhancements, I rather have continuous music rather than my Bluetooth device draining as well.
So I recently purchased this speaker, and the sound is amazing, but the mid tones have to be adjusted with your phone settings and app. But is seems to me that Sony did this purposely. Now when I paired this speaker to the XB43, the sound is epic and flawless. You get the clear midtones from the XB43 and the deep, deep bass and acoustics from the XG500, and it sound is like being at a concert. I feel that they did this purposely for the party connect, and it works. If you have the side to side setting on your phone, it sounds much better that the wide surround sound also.

Pretty good review. I have to say much better than Flossy Carter who seems to only do superficial or sloppy reviews now. He literally "reviews" speakers in about 10 minutes after taking it out of the box (no idea how you can judge a speaker or any audio product that quickly without spending a few days getting into it and learning it's good points and bad points), and he generally doesn't even bother with the features. By comparison you actually dive into the features beyond simply how the speaker sounds. A lot of people are interested in things such as the ports at the back, battery care, fast charging, the ability to use a speaker for kareoke, the weight of the speaker etc..... features that actually matter to most people in terms of whether to purchase a specific speaker or not.
@@YousefMoham3d you are right. I have nothing against Flossy. I like his personality. It's just as I said his "reviews" are superficial and I really learn nothing about the product from watching his videos.
I felt my XB43 had a not so good sound presence, like it was week and not well balanced, but I found out it was because the phone I was using wasn’t giving the best sound quality (I have an iPhone XS which doesn’t even supports FLAC music and a Galaxy S10+ that even with losless music it isn’t the greatest quality), I found my old xperia z5 that still works at times and using it with FLAC music, LDAC (obviously) the sound improved amazingly, not just the clarity but the bass, the stereo separation, lows, mids and highs balance. I feel like Hi-Res audio with a sony phone is the only way you can really enjoy Sony speakers and justify the price.
You have too much time on your hands unlike you I work in a cattle feed mill I use the speaker to make my 12 hour day go by faster I have a xb43 and another in the mail it’s good enough especially at 150 dollars it’s on sale
@@dac232009 by the time I made that comment I used to work from 6:30AM to 9PM everyday, and that's why I bought the speaker, I needed something to make me forget that I had no life. 😂 The price is of course cheaper compared to the similar speakers and it offers great quality for it's price, but I was switching from the XB41 and I just felt like there wasn't a big difference besides clarity. I sold my XB43 a couple weeks ago and now that I don't need a relatively big speaker I got an XB32 (which I totally love).
I have a xb32 and it kicks butt for definite. The bass is amazing especially with live sound with extra bass added into it being on, and the bass being at 10 via modifying the sound on music centre
I have the XB43 which was supposed to be returned just "borrowing" from the store and I eq down the bass, increase treble and don't use live. Your settings sound like something which will completely mess things up way beyond defaults.
Does anyone talk about how the XG500 has the mega bass button yeah it allows you to lower your bass but it's a feature of the JBL boombox 2 doesn't have how does no one point that out being in a small area for certain times you don't need that much power the Sony allows you to turn that down why does no one say anything
I owned 3 jbl boom boxes I give them away when I get bored of them i just bought Sony xb43 3 of them 1 for my nephew and 2 for me now I’m going to buy this thanks for the clarification I have owned many of the jbl products in the past and my biggest knock it the battery will fail I want 3 years out of my speakers and jbl can’t do that
I canceled my pre-order and put in an order for the xb700 for the same price. For the cost, it's just not enough speaker. I'm sure it's not a bad speaker, it's just not priced correctly. This unit should be $350 tops.
Can you share the best EQ settings for this speaker for its mids and treble? I will probably keep the bass at +10 either way and want to know how to balance the rest of the sound out.
Here’s the thing though, Sony‘s Party connect speakers are slightly cheaper than JBL‘s party boost speakers. The flip six is $120, whereas the XP 23 is $100. The XP 33 is $150, while the charge five is $180. The XP 43 is $250, while you have to pay $100 more for the JBL extreme at $350. Then there’s the Sony XG 500 and JBL boombox two. The boombox two is $50 more expensive than the XG 500. Are these slightly more expensive prices worth it?
So you need an app for pairing your two Bluetooth speakers srs xg500?? Can I connect my two Bluetooth speakers(srs xg500) in my computer (windows/iMac) without music Center app??
I just got the XB 43. Sound is excellent but is not loud I am considering getting the xg 500. I can see that you have the XB 43. So the XB 43 have over all better sound ????????
I own xb41 as i am quite happy with it and i am using it since 3-4 years and now thinking of upgarding. Unable to decide between marshal killburn 2 and sony xg500. Suggestions would be appreciated
Thanks, great review. Can I use this plugged in to power up all the time? Would it damage battery or something? I wish it would be possible to charge via usb port from my desktop computer.
Continuous charging will in fact have an effect on battery life, but given the speaker sounds louder when plugged in suggests that Sony thought about this and I'm sure if you enable battery care you can avoid making a big impact on its life. But if you use it plugged in everytime I don't think it's matters anyway
I have been using HK Onyx Studio 5 for a while now and I am pretty much satisfied with its performance, however, I think it's time to go for an upgrade.
mine started to make a weird noise on one fo the radiators like if it was blown. took apart to see if it was something loose inserted and nothing. now there a very irritated sound distortion on that radiator any ideas what it might be?
The Xb43 will sound more clear but will lack deep bass. My favorite combo is pairing both the xb43 and the xg500 together as they make up for each others downsides
U should watch Flossy Carter's video on this he gets really detailed and compares it to some jbls he said that the sound on the JBL is better and the base is more on the JBL
It would have been handy to list the price of the box. You only said it was definitely worth it to pick it up at a sale, but now I don't know when that is. Unless I missed it, ofcourse.
I have an older GTK-XB60 now I regret getting that, since this looks soo much nicer and not to mention it's somewhat waterproof, the XB60 isn't water resistant at alll
Hi , here I have a little problem my Sony SRS-XG500 the two indicators light up orange at the same time when I plug the charger into a socket, The power supply with indicator and the charging indicator and when the speaker is fully charged The power supply with indicator remains lit in orange I don't know why. it does not turn off. tell me how to fix this little problem? Help me.
It is way louder than the xtreme 3, the xtreme can't even compare to it, my son has the xtreme 3 and I have the xg500, if you want loud go with xg500, if you want a small speaker go with the xtreme 3
Not a fan. Do not like the look of the fabric. Not a fan of any boombox without interchangeable batteries. I want to go to the beach with a couple of batteries and pUMp out 100%, then just reload the battery like a Javelin Rocket Launcher and keep it going. Also, those lights are useless., you have to be at the sides to see them working. If I party into the night, I want that light display to be visible 360º Good alternative to the JBL.. but I will keep hold of my money until BBX's dig a little deeper for us consumers.
