I've had mine for quite a few years now. Bought second hand for around $50 I think. I don't think I've ever set it up correctly and am looking around RU-vid for best options. Thanks for the video. Happy I own one now 😁
Not without a remote. Note that it came with 2 x factory remotes. Easiest options is to jump in eBay and search: "Replace Remote RM-AAU016 RMAAU016 For Sony AV Receiver STR-DA5300ES". Mine cost $20AUD with shipping. Worked perfectly. Worth it for this high-end and still current receiver.
1) Press POWER to turn off the receiver. 2) Hold down POWER while pressing TONE MODE and DMPORT to turn on the receiver. 3) Release the TONE MODE and DMPORT after a few seconds. It's on page 39 of the manual. Cheers
Gooday I've Had one of These For About 15yrs It Is a Beast of a Thing Then i Got Really Ill and Havn't Used It For Years I'm Having Trouble With It Overheating and Switching Off I Thouhgt I Would Get It Out Last Night and Set It Back Up i Have a New 50 Inch 4K TV But I'm Having Trouble Getting Audio Through My TV The Bluray Player Works Fine The DVD player Works Fine and My Sony 5 Disc CD Player Works Fine. I Have It Plugged Into HDMI/ARC On The TV But Cannot Remember Which HDMI Socket To Plug The Other End Into Which HDMI Socket and as You Said You Need To Change Your Setting On Your Remote So It Works On Your TV. Last Night I Messed Up Something With The Menu Button On The Remote And Now I Have Mucked It All Up Stupid Me I Haven't Bothered Touching The Big Remote Over The Years I've Had it Thats Crazy Too Much For Me. Anyway Any Help Would Be Grateful With Setting Up My TV Thanks In Advance James.
Hi, start with a reset to return all amp settings to normal. Page 38 of the manual - here: www.sony.com/electronics/support/res/manuals/3209/32096351M.pdf
I also suggest you call Sony customer support if you have any additional questions James. Hope you are feeling better. I had a 5300 before I eventually ended up upgrading to a Denon AVR-X4500 for its Atmos capabilities and Audyssey etc. That Sony is a beast of a great sounding Flagship receiver for its time though and built like a tank! If it wasn’t for me wanting Atmos capability at the time I would have kept mine. If you’re having problems it could be worth getting fixed as it’s a keeper if you don’t need Atmos.
