This one's a little bit different insofar as we're looking at the companion tuner/ remote control /power supply for the Sony SL-F1 Betamax video recorder. This one had a few issues and one of them made me make a drastic decision! There will be a part 2 plus a little extra video too.
Hope you enjoyed this one. So much more to come and some fun stuff too so a like and subscribe would be great plus click the notification bell so you know when fun stuff arrives!

They did produce great results and I do think they're underrated.

Are the dc-dc module caps critical to change or are they fine to leave as is if you don't care about the tuner part?

Ultimately they do need to be changed as they do dry out and cause all sorts of issues. The DC-DC-AC module provides drive to the display so -36v and the heater AC voltage (around 3.6v AC) so well worth doing. There is also the issue of rot on the legs of the transformer on some units eating away the copper; this was from the production process. Hope this helps.

What's the model name of the remote control? I have a remote for my SL-F1, but it's not the original one. It's lacking the 2x and swing buttons.

It's an RMT -211. I might have a spare if you're interested. Drop me an email if you are to MrBetaByte@gmail.com and I'll have a look and let you know.
