Always turn Audio DRC off. It just limits the dynamic range of high frequency sounds which goes against the whole point of lossless audio on BD/4K especially.
Yeah manually switching complaints by reviewers are lazy a bit but Sony Electronics should patch it to auto detect with a software update along with UBP-X700 and UBP-1100ES.
Dolby Vision manually switching doesn't bother me on X800M2 I always remember tonturn it off its cheaper than Panasonic UB-820 by wide margin and similar picture quality.
thanks, this is what i was looking for, a review for the sound of playing cd on a blu-ray player. Because i want to have both in a good machine, and this might be it. Looking at a second hand right now.
this device really can produce very good sound! Whether it is from CD or a file via DNLA (i have lossless music files including 16 en 24bits) they sound great! I use the coax out to my amplifier.
Is that Dance Craze (still with ‘Madness’)? Is it available in 4k Bluray HDR Disc or was it just a Bluray Disc but mastered in 4k? I have an okd X700, I wonder what is the main difference/s between the newer players..
Hello, you said at the end of the video what else could I want from this Blueray player Well I have a Sony DN1080 amp roughly same year but the remote from the player doesn’t control any volume tv/Blu-ray/AV. so why would Sony put volume controls on the remote if they don’t actually work😂 Excellent video btw thanks for sharing but unfortunately I watched you video thinking you might have covered the remote but you didn’t therefore i score your input as a 9/10 and not 10/10 😂 Serious though excellent video Keep up the good work 👍🏼
Yea, I noticed the sound difference too vs. my old Harman Kardon CD player. I thought the Sony was maybe a tad louder making it sound better. It may have been clearer tho, I'm still trying to hear what it's doing lol
In DSEE the sound became more transparent and light, but at the same time became more free-flowing. In dense genres like hard rock this is not an advantage. P.S. I am not responsible for the mistakes of Google translate :)
In order to have DSD decoded on your receiver, the receiver has to be able to accept it over HDMI. The NR1200 does not. DSD over HDMI is a feature that you will find in more upper models of Marantz (and Denon fora that matter). I use the X800M2 and the X700 at work with lots of Denon and Marantz receivers and that's how I know ;-)
but isnt the M2 version alot cheaper? her in germany the M2 costs 145€ less and i wonder ...isnt it possible to just keep Dolby Vision off and dont Touch it if your TV dosent support it...
The sony ubpx-700 supports dolby vision whereas this ubpx-800 doesn't that's really weird i thought with the update of the ubpx-800 it was gonna have dolby vision but it still don't have that it better to go for the sony ubpx-700 or ubpx-800M2 who both have dolby vision!!!!
Why not use Sony as dedicated CD player to reduce clutter of boxes? That's exactly what I'm after. If there's no screen at all, that's obviously a problem.
@@UTILITARIANTVUK cost cutting.. I remember when I bought first Panasonic DVD player. Screen had actual stationary and rolling text. That was more then 20 years ago. And since then we're going backwards in aesthetic and functional design. My idea was to create DVD audio disc and just put tracks with folders on it. Without screen it's obviously no go. Cheers for the review!
Just found this in excellent condition at goodwill for $10 considering selling it on ebay for $100 with shipping so hopefully I can make a quick $50 profit or I may just keep it
