I’ll do the ram upgrades for you. I have experience with replacing underfilled chips on mobile phones. Normally charge like $150 for such a job but for preserving such a relic I’ll do for cost of ram chips :)
Just let me know what tools you use... I've tried an Xacto knife with no luck, as well as some special underfill tools I bought from China. Just let me know what tools and technique you use, and I'll probably be able to pull it off. Of course, I'll practice with some dead iPhone logic boards before attempting this.
This is amazing, seems to run macOS very well indeed. I was just thinking about this thing the other day, I had some ideas to use it for portable emulation, for stuff like C64, Amiga, etc, because it would be ideal for those as it has a built in keyboard... Hmm I think I might do that!
That's just beautiful. I'm doing another one of your Mojave ordeals (On an infuriating iMac 11,x) & found myself on your YT channel. I had a SONY UMPC for quite a while. I sold it for like $380 back in maybe 2012. They certainly hold (held) value. Not so much when you figure someone at one time paid like $2500 or w/e it was MSRP. Awesome job, dosdude!
I own actually similar Vaio (polish Era GSM release) and I'm running Arch Linux on it. It's not a good "PC" but I keep it as a little memory of my early pocket PC adventures. Nowadays I use my Trekstor Tablet PC which comes with Windows 10 and has user removable SSD and I use it mostly for office or graphic design
Excellent job on a neat machine. Never seen these before. I hate when they make these things so you can't upgrade them. Laptops, and others should have it so that the CPU/RAM can be upgraded. I paid quite a bit for a really nice laptop that I can't hardly use now because they are so hard to upgrade.
Unless I miss it somewhere, I wonder whether you would mind sharing the sad and the zip to msata that you use and the wifi upgrade and other upgrades that you did with this amazing device. I bought this brand new way back when and I forgot about it until I saw your channel. Thanks for your help.

With the limitations of not being able to upgrade the ram, I'm curious at how far you could take the machine (in Mac OS versions) with the Core 2 Duo you got. Haven't looked up the specs but I'd think at least El Capitan right? (BTW, excellent video as always!)
It sucks that Sony removed so much old drivers from their website... you pretty much can't find anything anymore! You can still find drivers for everything... except Sony's proprietary stuff!
What an interesting little device. Is that proprietary "Sony" port on the bottom the same as the one that the original PS Vita used? It looks VERY similar...
I have a VGN-UX27GN. It has no GSM stuff, instead it has a Memory Stick and a CF slot, but I could not make it boot from any of them. I wonder if it is even possible.
👍👍👍👍 and then to read all these “ Mac Pundits” telling us that 4 GB is minimum memory for a Hackintosh, but there recommendation is 16 GB! Your next challenge is to make this machine work with Win 10. It would be nice for you to provide a big picture summary on your website detailing which kexts and other modifications were necessary to make this work. Again 👍

You had no problems to put it back together? I have a 280P and I wanted to change the thermal paste, but when I put it back together the ignition switch stopped working, if it checks, it charges the battery and if I uncap it and try to turn it on, yes It works but the green light that appears near the switch does not turn on and the mouse does not work. Before opening it it worked perfectly, any idea of it happening?

@@WelcometoVideoCity Yes, it includes everything you see in the video. It is an exact image of the drive in my machine. It includes OS X, Windows 7, and Chameleon bootloader.
Re the ram. Could you potentially sand or grind or otherwise remove layer by layer of the ram chip? Of course it would destroy the chip but that could be possible I believe? May wish to colab with Louis rossman
