Nice to see other people enjoying the minidisc too. the mz-r55 was my very first md recorder. i got it in 1997 or so. still have it and it still works. remember to only use the net-md function to title your tracks and not to record your music with it. cause with net-md you'll lose some quality. only record in realtime with a digital optical cable. best sound you can get!! Keep the MD alive!!
@@Matowix Yes. But i stepped away from MD like 2 years ago. It was just too much. Right know i'm just playing around with it a bit and maybe rerecord some of my discs in Hi-MD mode so i can fit more music on a disc without sacrificing quality for it.
Thank you for the comment. I love this little recorder. I just wish I had one of these back in the day when they were new. I had and still got my first MD recorders. One is a Sony MDS-JE520 and the other on is a MZ-R30. I just never saw or paid attention to any other MD recorders that were out there. I wish this format was still around.
I am about to get a mz-n710. I love the MD format. I like the fact that I get to choose 2 or 3 albums in the morning and then I don't have to browse a 1000+ hours collection of mp3s every time I want to listen to something during the day... Everyone is like "but what if you change your mind once you have left the house?" But that's the point exactly and I like that. I have a non-net-md model for the moment but I'd like to be able to transfer recordings on the PC. Thanks for your MD videos.
Totally agree with you. I have my MP3 player still and all my mini discs meticulously catalogued.. I love that thing. All my music on little discs what's not to like. Enjoy your new MP3 player. It looks awesome.
i still have mine and i still listen to it. Its the MZ-N510 Type-S. Sometimes in public someone will randomly come up and ask "what is that" lol I had a different one but it stopped working before my present one. It was a small really thin aluminum one and i cant recall the model.
Hi, I just picked Sony Net MZ-N707 Silver (3rd Sept 2014) for £5.00 ($8.98 Canadian Dollar) ($8.24 US Dollar) +£4.20 postage and packaging!! I too absolutely agree that Minidisc still is the best portable medium to carry around with you on the go, the discs are protected so can not be scratched. I thought these were perfectly suited to cars, as they are small and you don`t need to worry about the discs like you do with CDs. However, the very idea of having an ipod is more convenient, with Bluetooth (TM) and 32GB of memory on my version realistically wins hands down for using in my car. I still prefer Minidisc at home connected to my music system though. I will make a small video of my Sony Net MZ-N707 when it arrives. Have fun.
@@hsjmusic thanks!! The optical cable is ok, the unit have some problem, bad reading, slow, and sometimes not read the disc, i cant find the optical unit 😢, few years ago are available in aliexpress (have a item but is paused) but now, no (sorry for my bad english, im brazilian 😕)
Have it and I agree! Greatest sound and so many features that CD-R cannot perform Component decks are great as well! Guess that CDs were still new and there was much confusion as to outdo new product ! There were Dat tapes as well! Didn't last too long! 4 lp doesn't compromise sound much from any source I've got several box sets complete on one each!
How do you make sure you get a mini disc player that works I've gotten 2 that did work? I agree its a great format it sounds better than a lot of stuff that's out....I love this format great on the go record on the fly record in different sppeds. Can you give me the specs on the 707 please thank U great video.
Someone gave me the same exact model, except it's blue. I only got the unit, some discs, but no instructions. I went to the Sony website, but can't download an instruction manual. Can anyone direct me to where I can get the instructions for it?
