Thanks for your video. Sadly after spending on a battery and a new charging port board nothing fixed my headphones. I am never buying another Sony headphone in my life.
Thanks - From Uganda - just did this and replaced the charger port and it worked. Had to also ship in your tools after I was stuck with a screw driver that was not working. Whats the advise for charging - should I use direct power or USB port power is optimal for charging these headsets?

How do I know if the problem is the charging port? My headphones have been dead for a long time, many attempts with different cables, chargers with no result. I opened them, disconnected the battery and it didn't work. I inspected the charging port and saw nothing strange, it looked clean and new. I don't want to buy a replacement without knowing if that's the solution.... Great video!
i have a question… when trying to connect the ribbon cable to the new part … i struggled a lot trying to connect it… i kind of damaged the ribbon i think one of the chip or lines broke off…. but i managed to connect it back and it works perfectly it charges, the light turns on again. but i’m just wondering if it’s still safe to use even if it’s a lil damaged.
6 months late but I was having the same issue till I pulled the ribbon out more, increasing it's length to work with. Turns out more ribbon was hiding.
I picked up my Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones from the charger and I found they were white hot on the charger cup. On inspection the plastic ear cup around the charger port had actually melted slightly. Is this a Power Board issue or a Charger port issue? At any rate the headphones will not charge now. Thanks.

Hi bro, I have a Sony XM4 myself too and it happens to have problem in control panel not working and keep reminding me its low battery at 10% (but I think the battery still changes just for unknown reason why the it's in this condition) I've tried to contact Sony today and they told me it will cost 100 buck for repair... So I'm desperated and wanna try my luck to repair it myself. Your video definitely helps a lot! Thank you for uploading :') , but can I ask you in your opinion which part of my headphones has gone wrong? I try to order spare parts from the Internet but have no idea which part to buy. It would make my day if you happen to saw my comment. Anyways thanks again XD
I've opened it up and found some water damage at the sensor control panel and try to clean it (still doesn't work) guess I'll have to replace it, and I saw people with similar problems for the battery guessing it's the SUB_R board problem. Thanks for your video giving me the information to repair it myself tho :D
@Nathan Ludwig ribbon cable for the sub-board got corrupted by water, just replace it and all good. For the sensor panel, I assume it is the same issue due to water damage, but you'll need a heat gun for that, I just ignored it, and it's still good until now after 1 year.

Holy shit, trying to connect this cable is infuriating and difficult to do. I don't know how you guys are managing it. I finally managed to plug it in after 20 minutes.

Can anyone help me for wh1000xm4 model?. I purchased this headphone few months ago and now I am facing charging issues. When I plugged in the red led light gets on and within few seconds it goes off I have tried all the possibilities to resolve this issue with apple and samsung adaptor also i tried charging with sony wire which is included in the box and other premium wires too. Headphone is updated to the latest firmware. When i on and then turn off the device it is charging and the red light is on continuously but this should not be the case as it was working properly earlier in first go. Please help.
$300 headphones that are only a year old needing parts replaced! I've got a pair of Sony headphones that are almost 15 years old under $100 and they've never needed work
The old one didn’t have electronics in it , it didn’t have a battery that’s why it can live for so long But really it is unfortunate that you need to fix stuff after 1-2 years .. i expected to use it for 5years with no troubles.. I won’t fix it, it ether fix itself or I will be using the aux port ..
