By resoldering the connections you improved the heat transfer in to the circuit board. Making it in to a type of heat sink.

Many years ago, I worked at this place that had a few of these big metal-chassis "daisywheel" printers.... Long story short, you'd test these things, broken. Throw it in the truck, drive it back to the service center... It would test good... Drive it back, put it on your bench... Working perfect. Put it back in the person's office.... Work perfect. After awhile, I would just put it in my truck, go to McDonalds for awhile, drive back, and retest it.... Seriously, all these printers really wanted was a ride in my truck, apparently..... My point is, yes. I have fixed things a few times, where I really had no idea why or how it got fixed, or why it started working again....

Measure the ac input current with a kill-a-watt or similar while moving the brightness and black level to see which one actually controls the backlight level. The lower the backlight setting the longer the LEDs will last. Great video as always.

Nice video, but i'd leave that pads on. I think the thermal transfer can only be improved...

True, Afterwards I did leave the thermal pads on and lowered backlight settings under 50% too.

Hello sir. Enjoying the channel. Very informative. I have a question. I’m trying to bring a Sony xbr back to life. It’s not powering up. I did all the trouble shooting everybody is suggesting. I found that I wasn’t getting the 3 volt standby from the power board. I was able to get 12 volts. So I ordered the power board. I installed the replacement board and I’m still having the same issue. I unplugged the plug connecting the power board to the main board and still no stand by 3 volts. Do you have any suggestions?

I have a 65xbr930d. I was told the main board needs replaced. I get no picture and no on light. What do I really need to look for to replace? I’ve tested the power and it is working great at 24vdc. Any help is appreciated. Great vids by the way

Thanks for the video Tampatec! Do you have any videos or could you show how to test a tv with a stand alone led driver board? My driver board has no legend for the outputs to the led’s and I’m not sure what they should be or how to test. Thanks for your consideration.

Hi Tampa Tec ! I had a question that not about how to fix the TV . But it’s a smart oven ( Breville brand) . What happens if I install the thermo fuse wrong polarity ? Some how the fan don’t work anymore and the cord at the plug in getting very hot ???

I had an LG55LN5710 that would run for 30 min or so and then shut off. The problem was a couple led's in the BL had shorted causing too much load on the PS/led driver board. Replaced all the led strips and has been working fine for a couple years. I'm wondering if shorted led's might be causing ur driver board to overheat? Once I took the panel off and then turned on the TV u could see the dead led's.

Hello friend. Try to investigate the Sony KD-65X8505C. Many have the same issue: 1) The Tv turns directly on, without going in stand-by mode 2) No picture or sound through the hole process. 3) Sony logo turns on, once in a while also the “marsmellow” logo. 4) You can hear a few click’s from the Power Supply oard (PSU) 5) The backcover is removed. The backlight turns on for a few seconds. You can only see the light through the holes from the back. At the front, no light at all. 6) All above are repeated. 7) You - or Frigal Repair, could perhaps help us all?

I have an XBR-65X810C....Picture is good but a bluish tint all over. Grrrr ...we've did all kinds of adjustments in settings and nothing is any better. just can't get rid of it. So now .....I have the back cover off and I'm stuck. I can't find any videos to help me go further. and yes ...it's smack dab in my living room. I'm hoping you see this soon and help me😭 pretty pretty please. ty

I have an xbr65x900e that recently quit working. This is the second time that it failed and I decided to replace it instead of taking a chance on fixing it again (based on my internet investigation - main board defective). I would like to find out if there is a message board or some other network for recycling the tv.

Just a couple weeks ago I had a TV that wouldn't turn on and even when it did it stayed on for only a few minutes. I took it down, removed the back panel, plugged it in to get some power readings, and at that point it just stayed on. I put the back on again and it's been working fine ever since. Probably was just a loose connection but who knows?

Hi, quick question, my backlight wasnt working so I checked backlights with led tester from connections to the psu. They lit up so I replaced psu which contains led driver, however it still doesnt light up the tv. Eventhough the less lit up could they still be causing the issue and need replacing?

I have a Sony 65" XBR-65X850B and all of a sudden it would click off and click on simultaneously. I've unplugged for hours and had all hdmi attachments taken out, as well as batteries in remote, then plugged the tv back in and without turning the TV on it clicks on and off simultaneously with the white led. Would this be a main board issue?

Its always a good idea to turn back lights down if nothing else to improve the life span of the LEDs

Hey TampaTec, I have a Sony Bravia XBR-49700D. I am not sure why it is displaying odd colors; it displays patches of blue tints around the screen. I did some research and tried troubleshooting, adjusting the colors setting in picture display settings, updated the software, but the odd coloring still remains. Any suggestions on what it may be?

Hi. My samsung smart tv, series 6, 40inch (2014) stopped working 15day ago. No standby light after i unplugged it for a week as my kids were glued to the TV for whole day so to keep them away from tv and focus on studies and other things in life i did so to give them a break from TV . And when I wanted to turn it on after a week, I plugged in my TV and there was no standby red light. Since then it is not working at all. Here in India its rainy season and the air is moist too. Kindly advice how do I fix this.

i have sony bravia KDL-40R455B the screen starts 3 times ,the first time stays on for 5 sec and goes off with green led with a high frequency sound, the second time the same, but the 3rd time stays longer about 10 sec then goes off with red blinking led 6 times, even if i remove the led power cable that goes to backlight does the same thing but without the backlight. How to fix that?
