Sony XM5 vs XM4 vs Airpods Pro 2!

As someone who’s owned all three of these, I’m not sure how he can say the ANC is pretty close on all 3. They’re absolutely NOT that close. In fact that’s one of the main reasons I switched from the AirPod Pro 2’s to the Sony’s….well that and because the APP 2’s lack of bass. I cannot understand for the life of me why Apple REFUSES to provide its customers with a CUSTOMIZABLE EQ!! Just because you people at Apple think it sounds good doesn’t mean the rest of us do!!

I found it helpful. I have the XM4 and they are pretty good. I belong to the android ecosystem.I was confused whether to buy the XM5 merely for the 20% increased ANC but after seeing your video i feel it may not be worth spending $300 for a theoretical increase in ANC which i may not even notice unless it is that gamechanging. Request you to do a comparison video between the XM5 and Bose QC2 as well, especially the ANC.

I have the XM4s. Pretty easy to upgrade the comfort on those. That alone wouldn't be enough to get me to buy the XM5s, nor would any software upgrades. Sound on the XM4s is great, but the noise cancelling with respect to wind needs serious work. I'm hearing the XM5s are slightly better, but 'slightly' is just not going to do it. I don't want to hear the wind when I'm outside at all, and we're a long way from that yet.

I have all of these and can confirm the valuable insights here. Sony for slightly better sound, Apple for integration with the ecosystem. This was my first Joshua video and it's excellent, the best I've watched in ages. Thank you!

Comfort is main factor, for me too XM4 was unwearable. Kind of hesitant to try XM5 since AirPods Pro 2 with usbc will be out soon anyway, and they’re so comfy I forget I even have them on

AirPods Pro 2 have a disadvantage when grabbing them. Apple moved the exterior anc small vent to the top; makes it easier to grab them and get dirt in them. This is really a big mistake by Apple and effects anc a lot. I believe they should have kept the vent at the bottom

Changed from iPhone to Samsung Flip, thinking if it’s worth getting AirPods Pro 2 and lose some functionality or go full android with XM5. An actual sound test and fit test for the XM5 might just help me decide.

With all that said, AP2 on top 🏆

If something I hate about AirPods is the fit, they are awful, any of them, just bought Sony's and waiting them to arrive, once I get it will throw my AirPods as far I can.

What happens if I take off the wf1000xm5 and play audio? Does it play on earphone or not?

When we use a single earbud does it automatically turn off active noise cancelling?

As someone who listens to a ton of music in Dolby/Spatial, I’m surprised there’s no mention of the Sony’s lacking support for Dolby Atmos. I realize they feature their own proprietary version of Spatial (360). However, very few music services support said format.

Side note: I regret my purchase of only two year old XM4 earbuds due to the battery drain issue. If you got an apple product just go with the Airpods Pro 2, at least those do not have an issue of battery drain unlike how BOTH the sony products do. It is a shame how bad it has gotten for how amazing the XM4-5 earbuds could have been...

I wonder why so many people use two fingers to grap up the XM5. The casing design has space intended for pushing it aside and grab it up....

Since I listen to talk shows 90% of the time over music and in the Apple ecosystem the Pro 2 are great for me and a big improvement over my Pro 1 that are now my back up. Got ‘em for $199 you spoke about months ago.

Only 5 seconds on battery life? It's no secret online that the XM4s are experiencing widespread battery drain issues that Sony has brought on through poorly designed software updates. While some folks are getting free repairs, those can take 3 - 5 weeks to be completed, and some folks are even being charged for these repairs. The same battery drain issue has even been reported on the XM5s. You should give fair warning to people thinking about XM4/XM5!! These widespread issues shouldn't be glossed over with a 5 second battery review
