I have the 1V, and always it wows when it comes to result. Photos doesnt even need post process, they look awesome that even Iphone 14 Pro Max owners are amazed of the Xperia 1V's results. 🎉

@@RogueSecret just put it on AUTO mode..haha i seldom tinker with the manual setting. But dont be fooled, the AUTO mode on Xperia 1V is a beast. It can rival that of 14pro max and other android flagships

Yea the Pro mode shot better photo than the Basic mode. I recommend using Auto or Program Auto mode. The Manual for the pro

@@RogueSecret I doubt it because even my 1 III takes better photos than the 14 Pro. But if you're serious, try using AF-S, turn off face/eye AF and switch to P mode (this disables the long shutter)

Sony Phones are absolutely amazing! This phone just nails it in almost every way including high frame rate video. This is my next smartphone I personally want to get! 4k 120Hz display to match it's own recording specs of 4k 120fps as well... Insane! This smartphone is a videographers dream come true. Since i've bought my Xperis Pro-i a year ago i've been shooting videos with it using my DJI rs3 mini gumbal whenever i go for a family holiday. Very handy and compact set up easy to carry around for family vacation. My mirrorless camera has been seating in my dry cabinet ever since. 😂

Thanks to your shots, I decided to take a new phone and upgrade my Xperia XZ1🔥I'm waiting for the opening of sales to buy Sony Xperia 1 V😃👍It's good when a person is a professional in his field and can take incredible pictures on his phone! Thanks! Many bloggers who do reviews on phones have abandoned the Sony camera (they shoot everything in automatic mode)... and they recommend choosing an iPhone. But we know which phone is reliable and with the best camera 😉👍

I don't understand the IPhone obsession. In the 14 Pro Max both videos and pictures are ruined by pretty bad HDR, and photos in isolation have too much contrast and too warm a tone even if you try and reduce this in the settings. The screen on the 14PM can dim all too quickly when filming video on a warm day, and to cap it all there is no still pause function when recording video. This phone sets no standards in my opinion.

Been here since the pro-i reviews. Absolutely amazing stuff but the reason I want this in my camera bag is the exact same reason I'm unsure of it. With the Pro-I, the 1 IV and now this one, yet again it seems like only James can achieve these kind of results. Other than James and another channel (AUXOUT), all the other reviews (some of which also come from filmmaking channels) just seem to make the stuff look like absolute garbage. I'd consider myself an okay cinematographer, but in my head I'm like, "will it be James level or garbage?". Am I the only one?

Thanks for the kind words mate. If Im completely honest, to get incredible footage out of the phone, simply: Keep 180Degree shutter angle with ND's, and dont clip your highlights. It really is as simple as that.

As James said, 180° shutter, but if you want it to look cleaner in low light, you can drop down to 360° to get much lower ISO. Oh and remember to always shoot videos using *Video Pro.* Videos shot in *Photo Pro* just don't look as good as it has a shutter and ISO limit, plus lower bitrate and worse noise reduction algorithm. It also seems that most youtubers don't know how to handle HLG footage in post, you need to convert it to SDR or upload as HDR, otherwise it'll look like garbage if it's improperly interpreted in your video editor. You can stick to SDR and turn on "wide dynamic range" (aka frame stacking HDR) if you don't want to do this. Not to mention that the default settings are terrible, once you set them up correctly it will look much better.

@@Jamesmatthews The other channels were comparing AUTO video setting with AUTO iPhone 14. In that case the iPhone uses "magic" to look better in low light, BUT, as we see in this video, the Sony 1V can look great in low light if you take little extra time

I am liking my 1 V. But I wish I had the skills to unlock the full potential like you. One other note, I am getting lots of flaring and artifacts when harsh light hits the sensor. I guess that's normal with camera phones? And did you use NDs when filming in daylight?

I own Xperia 5 V for a week and it's basically same camera as on Xperia 1V . Absolutely incredible results even in low light. I am well impressed

I cant agree more have Xperia 1V in black and kaki green and tok already alot of pictures and it amezing to shoot with this phone and it is a joy too use the manuell contrlls on the phone . The basic mode is also pretty good when using the color profile for diffrent scenarios .

It says a lot that the 1 V promo shots were just the phone handheld like they actually get used, whereas all the 'shot on iPhone' videos are full team productions with the phone in a steadicam rig with arri lights

Just picked up mine yesterday, had the 1 IV but struggled with overheating ... Couldn't shoot a 4K video more than 3 minutes without my phone shutting down from overheating... So far I see lot of good changes

Good looking footage but it would be nice to see it side by side with footage from my a7 to see if I could mix the two and have similar colours. I've just bought the Xiaomi 13 Ultra and waiting on it to arrive. The video on the 11 and 12 Ultra was insane but didn;t let me shoot at 25 frames which is the standard in Australia. Very annoying.

I am surprised how good the 85 mm video looks at 7:18. Is there any improvements over the 1 iv? It uses the same sensor and I am under whelmed by the 1 iv zoom lens (too soft),

Ah ah me too, on rare occasions i get a décent result on m'y 1 IV but it s mostly soft and often blurry with the 85-125...i have generally far better résultas with the zoom with the 1 V... But LL techview on his channel disageees he thinks the zoom is worst on his 1 V.. Very odd

@@JoeGillian0 Thanks. I did see from other reviews that the zoom algorithm is better on the V and therefore sharper pictures. That could explain it. But I am still hesitant to jump from the IV to V due to the zoom.

@@s7654r honestly the main appeal of 1 V is no more overheating with Sony camera apps...or at least it s a result of much better software :-( Main sensor is better but it s not a massive difference and you cannot have 52 or 48 mpxl. 1 V is also much better for burst mode with faster storage so it Only 1 s or 2 to be able to use burst mode again. Xperia VR headset is no longer supported on 1 V and there s no more led

heating issue been fix because they're using snapgragon 8 gen 2 that using TSMC 4nm instead of samsungs awful 8nm, you have no clue how happy I was when Sony was using the snapDragon gen 2! I'm going to buy this when it comes out.

If only it had a dex-like feature, I would be all over it! I can't wait for desktop mode to be backed into Android. I feel locked into Samsung phones, their cameras are only good, almost great. But nothing beats the camera UI on Xperia phones.

Dearest tell Sony to: improve filming in clubs, dusk/improper light conditions, give a software ugrade to its LED flash/torch overall, and put better low shutter speed drivers for stills that have so many chaotic buned pixels in the final JPEG, manual mode, and yes, same for 1mk4! Thank you!

This phone appears to be really impressive. It offers incredible quality for those who create videos for social media. However, I can't help but wonder why SONY didn't enable the Alpha A7 IV to shoot in 4k 60p without any cropping or even up to 4k 120p, especially when this phone can do it. We're not even talking about an entry-level camera here. It's quite frustrating, to be honest.

Sensors of xperia have much higher readout speeds. Easily 3-4x faster than 7r4. Mainly imx888 7r4, 7r5, 7iv are very slow exmor R sensors.

So even it doesn't have the ToF and RGBC - IR modules from the 1IV and the Pro - I. Still the 1V beats the 1IV and the Xperia Pro - I. But i also wished sony did improved these said modules.

Nope heat been toned down by a lot. You can shoot 4k 30fps till you run out of space/ battery gone flat.

They need their own integrated photo and video editors. Also, bring the album app back. Even though they improved a lot from Xperia 1, but they get the phone cheap on other aspect except the cameras. The Xperia 1, 1 II side sense touch became a cheap software edge tap. Album and File apps are gone, charger is gone, and now Xperia 1 v got a cheap cheap plastic panel, not to mention they are still using an outdated finger print sensor. But after all the complains, I still got Xperia 1 V after left my Pro-i rest.

I got this phone back in December after my junk S23 ultra stopped charging and Samsung refused to honor the factory warranty. I should have known better, Samsung TVs are junk too. I love this phone. It's great so far being able to have more control over picture taking. And all this stuff about it being hard to use is not accurate. I am not a professional photographer and I figured it out. I wish I gave them a chance sooner. I only buy Sony tvs so I should have given the phone a chance. On a side note, I just bought the A80L OLED TV and it's amazing. So anyone shopping for TV as well, I recommend

My working colleagues mostly used iPhone, but i used Sony Xperia. If u want Xperia 1v just go ahead. It is your choice. By the way, my family all used Xperia.
