I can tell you that many Xperia fans really dislike the removal of the 70mm telephoto lens. Otherwise, it's decent. Maybe wait for discount to get this phone.

I've had several Xperias in recent years. They start off relatively strong but the lacklustre software support really kills the experience. Updates often introduce new bugs rather than fixing them and their support is subpar. They have done the same with their headphones (look at the Sony headphones subreddit regarding WF-1000XM4 battery isues). I like Sony products in theory, but the reality of my experience means I'm wary of buying their devices in the future.

Didn't expect this channel to pronounce this phone's name as vee and not as mark 5. I'll wait for the Experia 5 vee ai.

For me and i say for me, as an Android user an enthusiast phone means the device must be bootloader unlockable so i can root install custom roms custom kernels tweak cpu gpu manually manage ram allocation and management that's what i envision as an enthusiast android phone

Removing the telephoto lens is such a huge mistake from Sony. People want a more versatile camera and more features but in a slightly compact body.

999 Euro for this.... Here we go again, Sony pricing themselves out. Holy 🦆 can they get competitive? They really have 0 idea how to get market adoption. You can get the regular Pixel 8 or Samsung s23 for cheaper and arguably more value adds.

I wish the sony xperia phones still had the sony gallery app and sony video player app on there newer devices. I'm glad that sony still has the walkman app since it's still my favorite music player from sony. I miss the older sony software since it reminds me of the playstation 3 and playstation 4 interface with the sony sound effects and interaction like the playstation 3 and playstation 4 but running android. I wonder what it would be like if sony made the ps vita 2 that plays ps vita 2 physical copies of games but running android just like the ps vita but with the standard micro sd card and usb c for charging instead of the proprietary sd and proprietary charger. I wanna be able to play god of war, the last of us, gran turismo, and ghost of tsushima etc. on android if sony made a ps vita 2 running android and have physical copies of games that are similar to the ps vita with the modern graphics. Android apps works with the Intel and amd cpus on windows 11 but I rather use android than windows 11. Windows have become mac os and I don't like mac os. I use windows, android and chrome os. Certain models of chromebooks support games that can be played from steam but google has to do an over the air update for making playing steam games on chrome os with select models of chromebooks.

Really love my 5 IV. The size is just perfect and the cameras are amazing. Do wish tho the camera app had a simple version as it is a bit lackluster for non camera entusiasts. Also think the prize should be a bit lower to compete harder with other smal phones.

Damn, they took away the notification LED for this one? That's a shame. I've had the 5ii for almost 3 years now and it's still awesome, no need to upgrade any time soon. The lack of software support is a bit of a bummer but oh well, everything else is great. The one thing I still don't understand is people calling Sony phones "enthusiast" phones. Yeah, they have the extra apps for the cameras, but other than that, they're just regular phones with all of the nice hardware features that the other companies don't want you to have. So long as Sony keeps doing phones the way they do, they're just about the only phone manufacturer I'll consider.

I have a Sony Xperia 5 ii and I LOVE IT, had it for 3 years and it was just perfect, unluckily a purple line appeared on the screen very recently and I'm thinking about changing phone... The question now is: which one is better: 5 ii or 5 v? I saw that they removed the 70mm telephoto lens from the 5v which truly is a pity, but is it still taking nice pictures?

Being on o2 switch up, i can upgrade my phone after 90 days if id like to. So thought id give this a go with it being on a slightly discounted tariff. 2 years updates dont bother me for the above reason. So far im loving it though tbh. Very comfortable phone and the bezels dont bother me at all

I would love this phone, but us cell service providers take a long time to whitelist a phone. I have heard complaints from xperia 5 iv owners about poor reception and no Wi-Fi calling. First and foremost I need a phone to be a phone :(

You know, when you swipe down and there is a bunch of customizable shortcut icons to enable/disable stuff. Is there none for quickly enabling or disabling Mobile Data on this phone ? Just upgraded it to Android 14.

1:55 I'm left handed, but I just now noticed that I always use my right hand to manipulate my phone. I also put it in my right back pocket. I was curious so I searched to see how many other people use their non dominant hand to handle their phones, and was surprised to see how many times this topic has been posted and discussed on Reddit. I then tried using my phone in my left hand, and it feels *so* wrong.

I have a XPeria 5 III and it's pretty good, I even don't mind the tall form factor the way I thought I would. My one complaint, and I know this sounds minor but it really bugs me, is that the corners are not rectangular. When I bought the 5 III I thought from photos that it would have rectangular corners instead of the annoying curved ones all other modern phones have. It turned out to have curved corners just the curves are smaller, which is still distracting. Looking at this video it looks like they're still doing the subtle curved corners? Sigh I still miss my Xperia X Compact!

I have loved all my xperia since 2014. I have (had) the Pro-i. It runs really hot when using video. Mine burnt up the battery and was dead... Right when i landed in Dubai... In October. I still haven't sent it in for repair. I bought a new pixel 8, knocked down to 400 after discounts. I like it a lot, but it's no Sony, for good or bad. I REALLY miss the dedicated camera button. It's one of my favorite Sony features. I also miss the sd card and advanced camera controls.

Xperia 5 V vs Zenfone 10!

Thanks. I had this phone for a week and then returned it for the following reasons: 1) Weak and muffled speakers compared to iPhones and Galaxies 2) Odd form factor, thickness and large bezels. 3) Poor default camera image processing. Too much contrast, bad HDR, etc. 4) No face unlock 5) Doesn't work with 5G bands in US If anyone wants to get an Android phone, they should get a Samsung Galaxy. It's still the best overall. Having that said, Android still sucks in some key areas compared to IOS. One thing that is not mentioned enough is the delayed notifications. Put an iPhone and Android phone side by side and iPhone always gets notifications in real-time but Android is hit or miss, especially with their own Gmail app!

I would call the Asus ROG 6 ultimate a flagship. It has a headphone jack. Came out last year. We also got the 7 this year. Also with the jack. So this Sony is t the 'first for a few years'. Still looks nice though.

Best budget phone right now is galaxy a25 5g...has error thang.. headphone jack Memory card slot 6gb or 8gb Omelette screen And the best is 4 years of os support and 5 years of security support.. 👍

I'll tell you a secret: Sony Xperia phones are the best on the market, bar none. Even iPhone and Galaxy Ultra cannot keep up with the photo, video and audio abilities of these phones. I'd argue that the design on Xperia phones are also some of the most beautiful ever made. google some images... BUT, they are aimed at audio, video and photography enthusiasts. Or anyone who wants the best value for money. You forgot to mention that the sensor on this phone is a world first - it captures double the amount of light than any other sensor ever invented, which is why it can also double as a periscope lense and still get incredible detail. Xperia's are phones that can do it all, and do it in style. For those in the know, there is nothing else that comes close.

Already siffering from bloatware since I made updates from 22 - 24 onky had samsung galaxu note 20 ultra and Chromebook, instagramyoutube are consuming alot of ram and power. Only had the phone for 16 months never had a power drain with any sony xperia ohones and my last sony phone I had that kept dying was xperia xz1 that had 2900 but it lasted two does without charge yet samsung galaxy note 20nultra could barely hold 20% in an hour. Going back to sony sony as VI is out

Went from a 5 iv to a pixel 7a. The Pixel 7A is better in every single way except battery life. The Sony started off strong but after 6 months the fingerprint scanner wouldn't work and then it started to slow down a lot.

If they could offer more years of support , then more would buy. Dammit sony

the bezel got bigger and they removed one camera? I'd love this phone if they were actually serious about it. Stop the freakishly tall aspect ratio, offer competitive software support, stop removing features and cutting cost while keeping the price high. keep the 3.5mm & SD card. Maybe improve the camera close to google/apple level

The phone looks mid,I really like these 5 minute reviews though. I used to love hour long deep dives but at this point no matter what phone you get you’re gonna be able to do pretty much everything you need so I really don’t care anymore besides the basics.
