Step 1 (Power Down and SIM Tray)
Power down your Sony Xperia Z5 Premium phone.
Step 2
Remove the Nano-SIM Card Tray.
Step 3 (Rear Panel)
The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium rear panel is glued on solidly and is a tight fit within the frame. Apply heat to soften the adhesive.
With the precision knife create enough space to insert a triangle opening tool.
Use triangle opening tools and a playing card to slice through the adhesive and help carefully separate the rear panel from Sony Xperia Z5 frame. Apply additional heat as needed.
Step 4 (Battery)
Use the spudger to detach the Xperia Z5 Premium battery connection from the logic board.
Grab the end of the first adhesive strip and try to keep the strip flat and wide. Slowly and gently try to pull each strip out from between the battery and the frame.
If the adhesive strips break while pulling them out, you will need to pry the battery up using a combination of the iSesamo, triangle opening tool, and spudger.
Remove the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium Lithium-Ion 3430 mAh battery.
Peel up and remove the adhesive from the Z5 Premium battery once you have removed it from the smartphone.
Step 5 (Rear-Facing Camera, Front-Facing Camera and Motherboard)
Disconnect the 23-Megapixel Sony Xperia Z5 Premium rear-facing camera from the logic board, and carefully pry it up and out of the phone.
Use the tweezers to detach the headphone jack cable.
Remove the following Phillips screw, and then the black plastic bracket.
With the bracket out of the way, detach the 5.1 Megapixel Sony Xperia Z5 Premium front-facing selfie camera and remove it from the phone.
Remove the black plastic cover from over the signal cable.
Remove the following Phillips screw.
Use the tweezers to remove the plastic piece covering the bottom of the logic board.
Detach the micro-USB port.
Remove the plastic strip.
Disconnect the Z5 Premium LCD and digitizer cable from the logic board.
Use the nylon spudger to carefully pry up and remove the motherboard from the Sony phone.
Step 6 (Earpiece Speaker and Headphone Jack)
With the tweezers carefully pry up and remove the Z5 Premium earpiece speaker.
Pry the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium headphone jack up and out of the smartphone.
Step 7 (Power and Volume Buttons Cable and Vibrator)
Using the tweezers to remove the 2 metal brackets.
With the tweezers pry the vibrator up from the chassis, and then peel up the contacts from over the Z5 Premium loudspeaker.
Remove the pink rubber grommet.
Carefully pry the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium power, volume and shutter release buttons cable assembly away from the frame.
Detach the ribbon cable from the side of the frame and remove it from the Xperia Z5 Premium smartphone.
Step 8 (Loudspeaker, Micro USB Port and Microphone)
Pry up and remove the Z5 Premium loudspeaker from the chassis.
Utilizing the tweezers, remove the antenna bracket.
Easily remove the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium Micro USB port.
Step 9 (Display Assembly and Frame)
With the heat gun warm up the adhesive securing the Xperia Z5 Premium LCD and digitizer assembly to the frame.
Use the precision knife to create separation and insert a plastic triangle opening tool to start slicing through the adhesive.
Take your time and apply additional heat as needed.
Once you have sliced through the adhesive, be mindful of the ribbon cable when removing the Z5 Premium display assembly from the frame.

thanks for the video, i just finish my Z5 screen replacement now, it's very hard to remove some items without break-in it, specially the battery after removing the cover, but i think you really don't need to remove all this items in video, just battery and plastic cover for screen jack are enough to change the screen

This video tells you to remove things that are not interfering in any way with screen replacement

There are multiple issues with this video. The most glaring and obvious one... when you are removing the motherboard there are two screws which must be removed near the left side on top. The video skips that step. In addition, I'm fairly certain screen replacement does not require all of these parts to be removed. The only parts which need to be removed are the back cover, the battery, the screen cable, and anything which interferes with removing the screen. Because this video is made by people who sell parts, they are instructing you to remove parts which, some of which, will break. You will be forced to repair them or pay someone to do so. I followed this entire process and have to replace both my loudspeaker and my power button cable. These parts aren't expensive, but having gone through the process, I strongly suspect I did not need to remove many of the parts I removed

Hi! Question: In order to JUST replace the headphone jack, is it necessary to go through all of the steps outlined above (battery removal, back camera removal, front camera removal, motherboard removal, etc)? There doesn't appear to be any obstructions from the headphone jack, and I'd feel a LOT more comfortable if I didn't have to remove anything I didn't need to just to replace it. Thanks in advance!

my back cover cracked so if i replace on my own to keep it waterproof do i need to to extra steps or just glue it back
@NBMSCH
@NBMSCH 8 лет назад
you do not need to follow all steps.. just follow the steps for the backcover removal, then (recommended to buy 2 sides battery adhesive (the top one), then place the new back cover... if you buy a generic one, it won't be waterproof anymore even if it has a preinstalled adhesive, but if you buy the OEM back cover it'll be waterproof again, as if it never been disassembled. follow the steps carefully and good luck

As the previous person suggested, you need to order factory adhesives (OEM) and make sure to clean the front and back areas where the adhesive is applied. Also, after replacing the screen, you should clamp it to the frame and heat the phone.

Is this device water cooled? how does it work? It looks like a simple peace of copper
@Fixez
@Fixez 8 лет назад
The copper pipe is a heat sink for the device.
@IBANEZfil
@IBANEZfil 7 лет назад
It is true that it's a copper pipe that works as a heat sink, but it actually has a gas that turns into liquid similar to the water used in water cooling. It cools the phone when it reaches high temps.

It's always good to double check your Flex Cable connections. Or try doing a factory reset after screen replacement. Sometimes when new hardware is installed on a device, the replacement is not recognized by the device. Just be sure to back up the data on the phone first.

@Fixez

We do not carry the motherboards for devices only the replacement components. Be warned when buying a used motherboard a lot of people try and sell bad and blacklisted boards.
