The original version has many many advantages. The Ulanzi wide adapter gets you wide enough, but it can be taken off to get much better tele. The original is much much more affordable. Plus the original has better Slo-Mo features. With the price difference it is Mark ONE all the way for me.
Fantastic breakdown on the differences on these two models. I was really hoping they would allow the ECM-B1M support with digital hotshoe. Bummer! Nice job as always!
@@bradl2636As does f4 so soon in the zoom range... It's at f4 most of the time! ZV1 moves to only f2.8, and a 70mm f2.8 lens is highly desirable and fairly expensive as an e-mount lens! 😎🤘
Ok, I really think that the mark ii is not worth buying, it is very limited. The form factor is really tiny, it maybe a pro, but there are so many cons...I definitely prefer the ZVE-10, the interchangeable lense camera with larger sensor. I am really curious to know what will be the ZVE-10 mark ii...And also, I want to be insane, really mad guy...Do you want ultimate vlogging and street photography camera and money is n o t an issue for you? Go for the Leica Q3, a camera from another galaxy...6000$ full frame 60 mp camera with a fixed 28mm f1.7 lens...its a dream
Well, ZV-1 Mark 2 is not an upgrade, It is an variant with different features. Sony takes advantage the absence of competition in this segment by releasing overpriced underpowered product.
Tal cual, ni la ZV1, ni la M2 y mucho menos la ZV1F son buenas camaras, NINGUNA. Son moviles de 150€ con pantalla rotativa y fin. Camaras de 200€ con un valor de 800-1000€.
Use accurate phrasing, I believe you mean you were hoping for more of upgrade. For the target buyer of this camera, touch operation is huge, as well multi face recognition.
@@LindonSlaghtnot for 900 bucks it’s literally stealing money from consumers. The OG should be 550 bucks at this point and the mark ii should be 700 bucks.
@@JasonVong That’s cool, I love your camera videos! I’m actually loving the zv1f but hoping this will fix its couple of flaws. I mostly shoot outside in Florida so the built in ND will be so nice to have! I also have had an occasional miss with the focus (on my face), that I’m sure this one won’t have an issue with. And I am excited it will give me some zoom range. I’m not worried about the f4 when zoomed, I’ll mostly be using it wide. I do like how the lens on the zv1f doesn’t extend (so compact) but keeping track of the tiny lens cap is such a pain lol
@@MollyFitzBrown Thanks for the update!! Yeah it was a bit of a shame the 1F has only Contrast AF... I was pretty close to getting it myself just because of the wider lens and the compactness but I figured I wait and see. Please let me know how the Mark II ends up working out for you!
@@JasonVong yeah that focus is the main issue, it occasionally had an odd jitter in the background as well. Otherwise the concept of it was great haha but my pre-order is in now :)
Sony ZV-1 original is better choice for new or used. Optical stabilization, better aperture f1.8-2.8, wider zoom lens with ND filter is the best! Mechanical shutter makes it real hybrid photo+video camera. Mk2 - much worse.
I own both the m2 and m1. M2 is not worth it tbh, get the m1 and the adapter and other accessories all for the price of the m2. The 18mm isn't as wide as you'd think when stabilization is on. The touchscreen is finnicky (and the playback mode has this marker button that wont go away unless you turn touch off). The AI mic pickup is only marginally better than the M1. Esp if using it for intelligent auto, the m1 has m2 beat.
Jason re the newer wide angle. I used the Ulanzi mounted on a a magnetic mount. I work excellent. I still prefer the zv1. If the zv1m2 would have had a bigger battery might consider it.
@@JasonVong it is the Ulanzi lens. But i hated the machismo they use so bought a magnetic filter adapter. You can see the details ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mF4T0cfmG_c.html. Not asking for a call out or endorsement. The Magnetic adapter made a massive difference.
the one thing that would interest us on the mic test is if you would have walked back to see when the mic would have switched. other then that its was an awesome breakdown, and think I'll stick with my 1F
I have a6400 with the 16-50mm kit lens, but I’m very intrigued in this zv 1 ii. I mostly do vlogs but I kinda don’t like how a6400 don’t have any stabilization, but I do like how they are mirrorless so I can change the lenses. Zv 1 ii seems so compact and very suitable for vlogging. What do you think about this?
I have had all of them, I sold the Sony A6400 to buy the Sony ZV E10, which is MUCH better for vlogging, there is not comparison between the two camera. I also use the Sony ZV1, if you only have one camera and vlogging is your thing get the Sony ZV1 Mark 2 with a few batteries. You will never use the A6400 again. Check this explanation made with RU-vid content creators in mind: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-G_o2iVyOGqU.htmlsi=CfIURPPfjpY-dDVX
@@jakub8363 they literally removed Optic Stabilization on the lens while the old one had it. It costs more and it still does 4k 30 lmao. Seems like a bump in price while removing a feature. Plus ZVE-10 exists at heavy discount now.
@@xiondFirst thank you for response mate. Im trying to decide between zv1, zv1 m2, zve10 and zv-1f. Camera will be used for youtube videos, twitch streaming and vacation vlogging. So it is hard to decide:)
not a lot of reviewers have noted that it doesnt have optical steadyshot. i find it quite funny this being the mark ii and lacking features damn they removed the 960fps mode too... aand the mechanical shutter? aaand it more expensive? no way
Reviewers also fail to mention that you lose the wider field of view the moment you activate electronic stabilization. The ZV-1 II is effectively a 23mm lens when vlogging with stabilization.
Somebody said Super Thanks? Let's goooo!!! With that out of the way, great video Jason. I'll definitely pick one up. It's a great option for vlogging, at least during the day, or on the widest. Much better choice than the ZV-E10 for example. So compact and the lens feels good enough for the price. It sells for about US$888 in Dubai, incl. the grip if you preorder and incl. all taxes. Not a bad deal no doubt!
As a non-video guy, the ZV-1 II is a more interesting camera to me with its wider lens. There isn't really anything else like it and it's the closest thing to Nikon's cancelled DL 18-50. I personally hope that Sony puts this ZV-1 II lens in a proper RX100 style body with a viewfinder and mechanical shutter.
Biggest upgrade is the USB-C plug and 18mm lens. Wish it had a 10-70mm lens, it would almost make it the perfect camera and I would be upgrading. Using the ZV1 as a B camera or pocket camera (it goes with me where I go), I think I will stick with what I have the upgrade is not enough to justify buying a new camera. My main camera is the Sony ZV E10 with the Sony 10-18mm lens.
Hi great video! Quick question, I have the Sony zv1. I love the tracking, that it doesn’t heat up, but the zoom sucks. What would be an upgrade to this camera?
Hi Jason, I am travelling solo and would like to kind of replace the iPhone selfies with self-portraits with some bokeh (that still kind of gives away say that I am in front of Eifell). I am already planning to buy the Sigma 18-50 f2.8 lense, and this will be my only prime. I will be using Sony A6100 APSC camera. Which prime lense will you recommend?
Great video. So many good points on here! But how does ZV-II compare to the ZV-e10. To choose the ZV-II or get the ZV e10 and go with the options or having different lenses?
Camera companies legit racing to the bottom. Removed mechanical shutter, slow motion, OSS, +worsen aperture for an even higher price. 3 years of innovation and this is what they came up with. What a joke.
I don't understand this mark II at all either. All they had to do was make the lens wider, and it would have been a sensible release. But taking features away while also increasing the price? No thanks.
