Was planning on soon purchasing an a6400 for zoom and streaming. This for $200 less, having face/eye detect and not needing an EVF seals the deal. Thank you guys for making a video on this camera.
Although a lot of people don't seem to like this camera or concept I think it's incredible. It's almost the perfect camera if you're more focused on video than stills and want to capture a prolonged video event from multiple angles with picture profiles -hlg/slog profiles - no video record time limit - aps-c sensor and interchangeable-lens capability - all this for only $700, especially if you already own other aps-c e-mount lenses To me that's an incredible feature set for the price

Looks like a really compelling option for people who want to up their game at: 1. General vlogging 2. Product reviews 3. Streaming content 4. Video conferencing Core technology-wise this camera isn't anything special, the difference lies in the fact that Sony approached this as creating a *system targeted at vlogging* (and a few other use cases) rather than just as a camera. Given that only professionals, a few enthusiasts (like me) & mid- to high-end vloggers now use anything other than a smartphone, this is a good move. Bravo Sony, this will force Canon to step up!
I was going to say I had great video on my S10 Galaxy in 1920p 30 FPS. Tbh it looks better than this camera ...with the exception of a background blurr. Why that would be, I have no clue. Is there a camera in the $800 range that has a blurr, stabilization, and good dim light? It seems in the video, the guy had to stay still or his movement looked artificial in blurr mode.
@@derekroberts5931 I think the Canon EOS RP has dropped to that price range, but not sure if that includes the kit lens. Low-light performance of larger sensors well be far superior (it's just physics), assuming the same level of technological sophistication. If you're happy with the performance of your smartphone camera, save your money! I find using smartphone cameras frustrating, so wherever I care about quality, I opt for my APS-C DSLR (yup, I still got one of those!).
Does this still hold true today? I'm about to purchase a camera for video conferencing, webinars (live and recorded), mostly just point and shoot. Occasionally I will be out and about walking and talking as well. I'm open to any brand, want the best bang for my buck, and this seems to be the one?

You are the best reviewer I found so far because you switch between filming on the camera being reviewed and your cinematic camera, so we can actually see the contrast of how the camera compares to a cinematic camera. Also, you spend a good deal of time filming on the camera being reviewed instead of simply inserting 1 second clips like other reviewers. You are the BEST hands down!!
Got this camera late last year and have no regrets. It performs well as both a step up from filming on a phone and an excellent starter camera for someone picking up photography/videography for the first time. It’s also been surprisingly good with my 100-400mm telephoto lens 😂 which seems like a Frankenstein’s monster of a combination, but has been wonderful for filming local sporting events and performances. Definitely not something for professional photographers but absolutely fantastic for the casual hobbyist.
You can see by the background that they shot this months ago in the Spring. Unusual for a camera company to give you a camera that far in advance of the launch date.
I wish they'd release a hotshoe EVF for those that don't do much vlogging but still like a product showcase feature if need be. I'd pair this with the Tamron 17-70/2.8 for travel.
So it's still the same, old sensor from a6300 (2016). Get ready for the worst rolling shutter on the market in 4k, and softest 1080p. Come on, Sony :( Good thing my a6300 is still working fine.
What surprised me the most about this video is that Jordan did not talk about the power zoom feature. Years ago I owned a Canon video camera with a power zoom, and having a power zoom is a big advantage when zooming while shooting video. The problem with a manual zoom is that it is difficult to do a smooth zoom while shooting video, and you also have the problem of trying to hold the camera steady while turning the zoom ring especially if the manual zoom is stiff. Having a manual zoom is not a problem when shooting photographs, because you turn the zoom to where you want it before you shoot the photo, and you are not changing the zoom while you are shooting the photo. Most of the lens Sony makes do not have a power zoom, so that there are not many lenses you can use the power zoom feature on, but having a power zoom is actually one of the advantages of the kit lens for shooting video.
for sure HD quality of a6000 would be better than this, since it has the same old sensor from a6300 which is good for 4K (with terrible rolling shutter) but poor in HD.
@M Tech yeah look it's not for me, but for a beginner it's an interesting camera. Not every camera can be a high end camera, there needs to be lower tiers, I think a touch screen is a better cost sacrifice than let's say a rotating screen on a vlog camera, and IBIS is another good cost saving as you can get lenses with IS.
Bro.... you cannot downplay the ability to change the glass!!! THAT CHANGES EVERYTHING!!! Which makes it better than the ZV1 - hands down. Looking at this camera from a content creator's point of view, and NOT a professional photographer shooting weddings with a cinematic camera... the ZV - E10 is a no brainer!!! C'mon now.
Guess it depends on your needs. I'd much rather pay $50 more and get an A6100 with a viewfinder. And still the same old A6300 sensor. APS-C cameras have been stuck at 24MP for an entire decade now, since the NEX-7 launched in 2011.
Sony has a camera that costs more than 5x as much, is popular especially among videographers and lauded for its image quality, and has a 12 Megapixel Full Frame sensor. It’s called the A7SIII.
As I only watched the ZV-1 video yesterday that is still fresh in my mind. I don't think the E10 will change my mind with regard to buying the -1. Some direct side by side views would have been useful. ZV-1 in pocket, ZV-10 not so easy.
I also wished they put the bigger battery in. The NP-FZ100 battery should only slightly increase the price, because you would only have to pay the difference in price between the NP-FZ100 battery and smaller battery. I also like the NP-FZ100 battery, because then you can use the same battery in their full frame cameras.

I am not into tech stuff, but love taking pictures. At the moment I own a Olympus PEN E-PL with a 45 mm lense.
4:31 I am so glad this camera has the USB power option. Any modern camera must have this feature. I just broke my Canon M50 using a dummy battery - it came unplugged while filming and now its bricked.

I’m like this camera!!! I wear glasses so I avoid using the EVF as much as possible. Only in bright light of course. In like to have the EVF, but… only in bright sunlight. I like the easy background blur button! Awesome!
Have the a7c, which has a FULL FRAME SENSOR, night time video/photos with no noise and shoots better photos than any flagship smartphone, thanks to the massive sensor size. And UHS2, YES...2... SD card reader. And IBIS. And Electronic view finder, and digital mic hot shoe. And its weather sealed.
Can you please help me with when you recorded this video with the Sony ZV E10 did you use the kit lens or another? Also that isn't straight out of camera video. You color graded it?

are you serious ? it is an old outdated camera, not even capable to shoot 4K 60p .. you know why ? because it uses the old sensor back from 2015 (first time at a6300).. it has the same terrible rolling shutter problems, same old codecs etc etc.... it would be a good option for 350$.. The main electronic parts of this camera are coming from the garbage bin of Sony from 2014.

The best video, this is short review but good review. I have sold a6400 a few days ago and bought zv e10. I am satisfied with its simple system. Sony would have made it weather sealed in full touch screen and aluminum alloy body !
Hey I was just wondering what are the pros and cons for each camera, as I am looking at the a6400 or this one to buy for taking pictures and cinematography videos. Which one would you prefer?
The reality is, vloggers have their main camera and a vlog camera. The zv1 is perfect as a vlogging camera, only thing they had to fix was to make the zv1's lens wider.. imo Just get an a6300 for 400 bucks.. or a used zv1 for 500... there's nothing new here... sony had a headstart in the mirrorless race and it's sad to see them throw their lead away by re using the same tech in smaller bodies... zv1, a7c etc... instead of innovating... btw i 100% agree with your points, great video as always!
Great video! Does the ZV-E10 have a better support for 4K compared to the ZV-1? I have a ZV-1 and I have to turn the temperature control off if I want to record for longer periods of time in 4K
I bought the ZV-1 and hated it and promptly returned it the next day. When you went outside, the screen was so dark that you couldn't see a thing on it which defeats the purpose of a vlogging camera. Sad to see that this one also doesn't have an EVF. Hopefully, the screen has a higher brightness.
This video was shot in July ? It looks like the snow just melted and there are no leaves on the trees. Maybe you had the camera earlier but did not release the clip until July ? Just trying to figure out when this rig will be in the stores.
Hi, would you be able to do a comparison video between the zve10 and the fujifilm xs10? I'm getting my 1st camera for livestreaming as an upgrade from using huawei smartphone, and wanted to know if i should pick xs10 over this?
I was very poor. The sony zv1 camera made me thousands of dollars recording freelance journalist video. Looking forward to the ZV-E10. I shoot Intelligent auto mode out the box and it made being a newbie videographer easy. I want the E-10 to have all those wonderful features with Lens.
Reading between the lines, did Sony require that you test the soft skin effect during a vlogging component? I think every other review did the same exact thing lol

No timewasting cold bullshit jokes from Kai W, no "camera review turn lifestyle vlog to waste your time" from matti hapoja, although gerald is good, but at least with DP review we get on the field outdoor testing with many real life example. and all around just a more professional review from chris and jordan
I was looking at an A6600 to pair with an A7iv for a travel kit but this guy has me thinking long and hard. Significantly smaller than A6600 and really great video capabilities. Digging this. Probably not in the white version, lol.
