Hey Carl, thanks for tuning in. The answer is yes for both questions, I have tested it from a range of 30 feet+ and it worked as it should. As for the obstacle question, I have tested inside my steel office drawer, and it worked again exactly as intended. The remote doesn't use the traditional IR blaster found in TV remotes and instead uses a technology similar to wireless mouse dongle. Hope this helps.

@@RandomTeq thank you for the quick answer. This gimble will make it easier to record youth sports games for my son. I can use the remote to get the perfect elevation angle of the camera when my tripod is extended to 25 ft in height. (I manually turn the camera from tripod when elevated.)

I had to do a test to confirm. It doesn't work with the camera+lens+cage+light+mic (my regular gear). The gears skip or won't respond to the button press. Test with camera+lens+cage (weighting 908g) 30° = yes 45° = yes Anything beyond this point it struggles. If you're doing it with a smartphone, it will handle it with rase in all directions. It should be possible. The only challenge is its manual operation. I'm not sure how you're going to be set the excat degree you're shooting for, as you have to manually adjust the angle using the remote.

No, you have to continuously press a button to make it happen. You can't program it to do that on its own.

On the remote, there's only one button dedicated for shutter, so I doubt that it can be done.

I used a large quick release plate to offset the center of the weight and it works. It's only when you tilt the camera forward that it tends to tip over.

It doesn't say anywhere in the manual, but from experience, it's about 6 meters or 19 feet. This is the distance I tested, but judging the responsiveness and how quick it detects the face, I'd say probably a little more than that.

I doubt it. With the camera on my desk, it takes me a few clicks to get it right. Plus, it seems that the tooth on the gears is too big for precise movements.
