I am not Italian but I grew up watching Italian TV. All the movies, all the concerts , shows . It was like i was watching my country's TV. Italy was the only country that kept us connected with the western world. Albania is so close to Italy and most of Albanians speak Italian. I always admired Sofia Loren. Watching her movies took me to another world. God bless her. God bless Italy.
no-no-no-no. Beautiful, sexy, but not classic. Not with her nose. Explain. How is she an inspiration to all women? I want to hear why you said that...lol.
I am not Italian, but I love Italy, one country that I have visited 3 times in my life. There are so many things in Italy to be proud, culture, food, places, but Sophia is a great italian icon. God Bless this great country and mine too.
Sorry, but your statement doesn’t really make sense. 1. Proud to be a “biological coincidence”? It’s not that you choose to be born Italian, now is it? You could have been born Bangladeshi for the same part 2. It’s not that you’re her father or teacher... so how can you be proud of someone whom you don’t know personally? 3. See 1.
In addition to this honorary Oscar--30 years after Loren won for Two Women--it fills me with such joy to watch the standing ovation she received, most importantly perhaps the actresses in the audience who just looked at Loren almost spellbound by her beauty and talent. You can see in their faces that they are witnessing an icon of film. What a display of ultimate respect and admiration shown by so many others in the audience. Sophia, you are a gem. Brava, Sophia Nazionale.
The looks on the faces of all those young actresses touched me too. I believe they find Ms. Loren not just an icon, but a woman who reached the pinnacle of her profession through sheer hard work and talent (and good choices). That is inspiring to them.
My God, the first women I ever fell in love with! The class, the beauty, and a body that drove this 62 year old man crazy. She is the reason I watched foreign films as a kid. All my love and respect for you Ms.Loren!!
The favorite of my good friend, a young priest at that time, now an archbishop. Not for lascivious reasons, but because he was an expert on Ancient Greek arts and culture. Sophia Loren, the epitome of classical beauty!
Carlo Ponti Jr. attended USC where he majored in classical music...He is now a symphony conductor who regularly appears throughout Southern California...
I was captivated by this beautiful and talented Italian woman as a child. Recently saw Two Women and was staggered by her talent. She richly deserved this honour.
To those of you who think people like Minaj, Swift, Gaga, Beyoncé, et al are beautiful or talented, beware. You are about to experience a level of beauty and elegance, of refined sophistication and manners unlike anything you've ever seen. Put your googles on and set yourself ready for Heavy Stun. A lady is coming on stage of the type you'll never really understand.
Princess Targaryen...At least TRY and comprehend what has been said here. TRY and understand what you have just seen. Not Beyonce nor the rest of the gaggle mentioned (or unmentioned) can touch the hem of Sophia Loren's garment...not Yesterday, not Today and not Tomorrow. Molte Gracie Ronald McReynolds!
As Loren aficianados are aware, she and Gregory Peck co-starred in Stanley Donen's film "Arabesque" in 1966 and had great chemistry. Loren is still making movies and going strong.
What a stunner. They don't make them like her any more. Such a shame there will never be another golden age. When men were men and woman were woman. Total class!
With all the lovely women in the world, well, there's really just Sophia Loren. Sometimes I try to think if any other star is comparable. Nope. Not even in the ball park.
She is Beautiful and a good example of a woman, She married the director Carlo Ponti. what a great couple together since the beginning. Her sons are very handsome take after her mother.
Peccato!
I think it is. It is hard to tell cuz I've only heard it with lyrics, or can only remember hearing it with lyrics. The instrumentation throws me off, but that unmistakable, "theme", I guess you would call it, comes through repeatedly because it is sung or played repeatedly in "Stranger In Paradise." Like I know, but that's my guess.
Sophia is truly a work of art- magnificent! How on God's green earth does someone become a Sophia Loren? I just don't understand ! Truly a miracle of nature !
Sophia is a beautiful, accomplished actress. She actually won an Oscar in 1962 as the first for a foreign film, the Italian movie "Two Women". But not sure if this honorary Oscar was necessary as there are more deserving actors who should've gotten one while they were alive. Whoever campaigned for Sophia this year must've done a great job in convincing the Academy to give Sophia another Oscar. There were more deserving actors. Owe it to the Academy to Kiss Major ASS!!!
Carlo Ponti hat sein Mündel von damals ausgenutzt. Die schönste Frau Italiens hätte ihn nie geheiratet, wenn er sie nicht zum Star gemacht hätte. Ihre Rettung waren die Kinder.
