O, I do love her so. She had dignity and compassion and an inner beauty that went far beyond her movie persona. She had a superb kind of class that is not seen in this world of the Kardashias and the soccerstar wives. It's about beeing decent as well as elegant and beautifu and in a natural way. I am proud to say she was part Dutch and that in the town she lived in during the second world war the square in front of the major theatre is now called the Audrey Hepburn square. I think she would have been very proud of that.

I'm in tears watching this. She's always been my favourite female icon and she reminds me of a better time. Her movies always lift my spirits. She was a gift to the world.

I consider myself beer lucky to have been born before the internet, Facebook and Instagram took over. When there were 7 channels and no cable. It allowed me the opportunity to see some of these great movies and over the years I've come to appreciate what great talent the Golden age of Hollywood contained. Timeless talent, stars with Grace class and respect. How the world needs more of them right now.

I no longer watch the Oscars. Today, sadly, it has become a platform for personal agendas, an opportunity for people to spew hatred, bigotry and intolerance, and, last but not least, to demonstrate their complete lack of gratitude to we, the little, ignorant, know-nothings whose money purchased the tickets to the movie that gives them their opulent lifestyle and the platform they misuse in such vile and disgraceful manner. Looking at these clips of Oscars past makes me long for the day when "star" attached to a person's name really meant "Amazing, intelligent, talented, thoughtful, brilliant, beautiful in body and spirit, courageous, gifted, generous of time, money, heart and wisdom, etc." I am tired of this atmosphere now, where people are afraid to give their true opinion lest it cost them work in Hell-iwood. I am sure I am not alone in being weary of self-promoting, selfish, silly, self-indulged, snarky, intolerant people who are so afraid of opposing ideas, they feel it necessary to silence those ideas, thoughts, and speakers, and doing so on national television in a forum that was created to entertain and to celebrate creativity. Instead, before the whole world, those haters, those small minded people snarl, use filthy language, disparage the country that protects their right to rant and rave, and waste the opportunity to encourage the people coming after them in the arts, telling them with diligence and hard work, they can be likewise blessed. What a complete waste of talent, fame and time. Voila tout!

I love this dear woman, and she probably should have been offered as a candidate for sainthood for her completely selfless works for charity and the starving child in the world. I do find it interesting that the only two women she thanks in her speech are Shirley MacLaine and Lillian Gish; both women of deep originality with no seeming connection. Worth an exploration.

Gone are those days with wind, leaving only memories and thanks to youtube for giving unique opportunity to review these movies and immerse ourselves in those memories. All her movies are jewels in the treasury of films.

In China, I saw photos of her everywhere two decades ago. I'm still not sure why. Perhaps it was her petiteness and modesty but everywhere her grace and elegance were admired. She was an exquisite rarity who graced us with her presence with her polish and class despite a hard childhood. How I wish I could have met her if only in a glimpse.
