We are working on roundabouts on todays driving lesson with Sophie. With my student still being very new to learning roundabouts, I will be helping her with promps to make sure Sophie understands the approach to a roundabout, what gear and speed she would need to be at on approach to each roundabout.
We will be talking about which lane to use on the approach to a roundabout, and the importance of lane discipline on the roundabout.
Then finally exiting a roundabout and building up your speed and using the correct gear.

Are you driving a Honda fit/jazz car? The same as the car I am currently learning and I stall alot😆. Think you doing much better than me, keep it up Sophie. Thanks for the videos Travis

Yes it is a Honda Jazz. Jazz’s need a bit more power when moving off to help combat the stalling.

You are doing good. Honestly it's just practice. With practice and time you will start to check the traffic coming into the roundabout and will be ablevto judge thier speed and what they are going to do quicker. Then as you are more aware sooner it will actually give you more time and you will relax a little more as you have gained a bigger thinking time. You are just being a little hard on yourself

@@JamesTravis I remember when I was much younger getting onto the motorway from a roundabout and it took me 20 odd miles to workout I was going the wrong way. I had been with friends to a festival. Up all night then set off back up the road went into macdonalds at the roundabout took what I thought was the right way seen a sign saying London 50 miles then a bit later seen a sign saying London 30. As I needed to be going north London had to get further away. This was long before Google maps and Tom Tom's existed. All you simply did was carry on to next get off and get back on in the opposite direction. It wasn't the end of the world. I had been driving about 4 years. I doubt Sophie is go get that lost on a lesson. Plus now with sat navs it's much easier to get back on track a re route. I bet everyone who is full licence holder has stories of getting lost going the wrong way at some point

Thank you Sophie for coming on and not mind being recorded on camera for this Lesson.😮 Another few more of these would be nice leading up to summer months:) Good guidance to her throughout this video to help her understand and prepare. Driving in rain is good, April is a rainy month.😅

I often wouldn't get up to third gear because I felt like I didn't have time before the next junction, but what I really meant was I didn't feel confident I could slow down in time. See where Sophie wanted to start slowing down dead early before that roundabout? That's what I would've done too, only a few weeks ago. The ecosafe driving thing makes it confusing, I think it makes new learners feel like we should barely use our brakes to slow down. My instructor helped me by using safe quiet stretches of road tell me step by step how to slow down to a stop so that I fully understand how much to brake and how much to rely on the engine, then we practiced some more with junctions in a 20 zone, then moved up to a 30 zone with lots of quiet roundabouts, making sure I got up to third between the roundabouts and then slowed down quickly when approaching them (upton rocks Widnes I think)

Oh bless the instructor, he acts and talks in a calm manner just like my instructor while the student just acting like me when I was a driving student, I made a lot of mistakes when driving the roundabouts but was glad to pass my practicals once.

You should get another camera under the seat that shows pedals, and maybe another that shows behind for when it’s needed, u could always show pedals

And you could have text on the screen explaining faults when they happen, and what you’re meant to do instead, or even pause it and do a voice over in the editing
