Sophie Ellis-Bextor singing the James Bond classic, 'Nobody Does It Better', live on the Chris Evans Breakfast Show in front of composer David Arnold. Ed Harcourt is playing the piano part.
Ed Harcourt he deserves great credit here as well. His exuberant interpretation and impeccable timing really helped Sophie to shine here. Very well done!
You're the best, Sophie. I just love your voice. You definetely deserve to sing the title of a future James Bond film. A big hug for a talented singer.
Oh Gosh, she is so melodious, so enveloping and so sophisticated. The truth is I don't understand how there are people who give fingers down to this performance done by her here live. She is great and my ears love her voice! 😍📱🎧🎶🎶🎶💯👍🏻😉
Credit where credits due, Ellis-Bextor absolutely nails this! Pure talent! Anyone who can sing as well as this, live, at the drop of a hat, gets a thumbs up from me anytime! Plus her mum is still gorgeous! 🙂
Not fair to keep comparing this to the original, she is singing this live, along with a single electric piano in a cramped small room. Pretty amazing considering.
I love the original, but the Bextor belted it out of the (literal) park - I thought a studio performance would be clear and better, but go check out her in the park, Phenomenal.
The original Carly Simon vocal will never be bettered. However I thoroughly enjoyed Sophie's gorgeous interpretation, easily the best cover of this song I've ever heard.
she comes pretty close to the known studio recording. Though this song doesnt need the tremolo in the voice, but the punch Carly Simon put in it, IMHO. Anyway, this is a version I'd put on my playlist.
I wish SEB would do more songs like this as opposed to the disco stuff she usually does. She's obviously got the voice for it. Excellent video. Edit: Just listened to SEB's 'Wanderlast' album. Excellent. Not the disco fest I was expecting. Really enjoyed it.
@@lukaszpiotrswiatek Just listened to that album for the first. Really liked it. Which is rare for me on a first hearing. Thank you very much for your recommendation. I may edit my original post if I can. 🙂
This is a great version of what is a classic James Bond theme. Miss Ellis-Bextor isn't just a pretty face...she has the pipes to match...and what's more, they're well tune!
Sophie Ellis-Bextor covers a lot of people in performances mainly, and tries to express that it's a tribute to those originals that she grew up with. And to those who shaped her into the artist she's become, like Carly Simon... Just because an artist covers someone they admire, doesn't mean they're trying to compete. Now, if she were trying to re-release her cover as her own single? How about, it sounds good for a cover... let's take it for what it is, and not mark it up or down with all of these "original" comments. It makes a lot of people sound like purists, and I'm not sure why they would come around to comment if they didn't understand that. It's not better, it's not trying to be. It just sounds good.
Love this Ellis-Bextor performance. Way better than the performance she did of this song at the concert held outside Buckingham Palace following the closing ceremony of Beijing 2008.
Brilliant, as one can expect for so an artist as she is. I still prefer Carly Simon version, maybe because I heard it before. However, kudos to you Sophie.
