I LOVE the fabric, it really looks like the fabric when Howl makes it fancy.

The *only* way I’ve been able to get an invisible zipper in where it matches perfectly is by hand… being a couple millimeters off when done by machine isn’t bad at all

Sooooo pretty! I love the fabric choice for the shiny blue. The overlay for the apron works well too.

Cuute! 💕In in love with the fabric you got! That touch of shimmer sheen and glimmer really gave it that magic look. I use to cosplay her original green one as well and looking into remaking and making all three of her dresses someday.

its beautiful ! i love the result for the upgraded dress by Howl haha !! if you want to have a result much more like in the past, use linen ;)

not making it again any time soon & i actually dislike linen because of how easy it wrinkles, but thanks anyways!

Hello! You're dress is absolutely stunning! I bought the same pattern and this is my first sewing project and this already helped me a lot.

Aw thank you so much! It's such a great pattern, the seller is super helpful but I'm also happy to help you troubleshoot if you run into any snags! Let me know how it turns out :D

Wow this turned out great, that floss trick will be going in my back pocket! Also noticed you using washers has pattern weights, great idea that I think I’ll use from now on! Your apron looks great, I don’t know that it needs replacing, but I say that as someone who hasn’t seen the source material :)

Aw thank you so much, if you haven't seen howls moving castle it's definitely worth checking out! I will just say get heavier washers cause the ones I have are kinda light ;o;

Your dress is amazing! The fabric is so magical and the apron is super cute! When you made the adjustment to the skirt, you mentioned making it at the hip instead of at the bottom. Is there a reason? I was looking online, but couldn't find anything and wanted to know why you do adjustments this way (and possibly how as well lol)
@KnoviceCosplay
@KnoviceCosplay Год назад
Doing the adjustment at the bottom can cause problems. Lengthening at the bottom would make the skirt flare out more and would possibly not fit depending on width of fabric. Other than that it's just kind of a thing you'll notice on patterns, the lengthen/shorten points are always in certain places. I recommend the book "first time garment fitting" and this video talks a bit about it as well ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3fijwU_60AA.html To lengthen I measured how far my hip was from my waist, then made a straight line at that measurement across the skirt pattern, cut the pattern there, then measured and put two inches of blank paper and taped that into the gap. Lmk if you have more questions!

this is the most helpful video that ive watched on sophies dress so far! :0 ive never seen a dress with side zippers before, how do you put it on?
@KnoviceCosplay
@KnoviceCosplay 2 года назад
ahhhh that means so much to me, you have no idea! As far as I can tell it's exactly the same as any other zipper application, but you hide the top of the zipper the same way you do the bottom (check out professor pincushion, she has the most clear zipper/instructional videos by far). and then the only other thing is I skipped a hook & eye, and had it stop a couple inches below the armpit seam. lmk if you need help with anything else!

This is so pretty!! I love how you added your own twist and it turned out so magical! I just love how it shines in light! The detailed apron also adds so much to the whole outfit too! I bought this pattern as well and I hope you don't mind me asking some questions, did you sew the pockets as well? And I noticed that you added a hidden/small button on the collar at 6:38 and may I ask what type of buttons are they and how did you install it? Since you haven't touched on it in the video and I was just curious!! Thank you so much for sharing your process and your cosplay!
@KnoviceCosplay
@KnoviceCosplay Год назад
Thank you so much 🥺 I skipped the pockets out of personal preference & wanting to avoid putting things in the pockets that might pull/weigh the dress down. I used a single small snap at the top instead a clear button like the pattern has because it's more invisible! Here's a link to my favorite snap-sewing tutorial ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4q-VbGHcY50.html

@@KnoviceCosplay You're welcome!! That's a good point about the pockets, I didn't think of that! I've considered skipping out on the pockets as well but wasn't sure so I'll keep note of that. Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions and sharing a resource on attaching this specific type of button!! I really appreciate it and I'll look into it! Definitely subbing to your channel and I hope you have a nice day! ^^

I know I just commented on your other video, but I wanted to say again that your dress is just gorgeous and thank you so much for this video!! I have been looking everywhere for Simplicity or McCall's patterns to splice together for the perfect Sophie dress with no luck so far... I think you've led me in the right direction! I just have a small question if it's not too bothersome! You are very talented and super knowledgeable about sewing so-- I am still a beginner at sewing and I can read easier McCall's and Simplicity patterns with little to no trouble at this rate, but would you say that this pattern and the instructions are understandable for someone who is self-taught and is still a beginner?
@KnoviceCosplay
@KnoviceCosplay 2 года назад
Oh absolutely, in my opinion this pattern was even easier/more clear than McCall's or simplicity patterns cause it uses actual photos for each step instead of diagrams. Plus if you do run into trouble the Etsy seller can help you, I'm also happy to help you too!

I love the dress you made it is beautiful! 😍 I also intend to buy the pattern on etsy and sew Sophie's clothes! I saw on aliexpress that the fabric you used is 150 x 50 cm, how much fabric did you buy? because I don't think a single 150 × 50 cm piece of fabric is enough to sew this dress🥺
@KnoviceCosplay
@KnoviceCosplay 2 года назад
I got 4 meters and ended up having a safe amount of left over! The fabric wasn't wide enough so I had to make the skirt flare out less too, which was a bit of a bummer. If you wanted you could get a couple extra meters to make a fuller skirt, which will look better when you twirl!
