I wish Hollywood would cast Michael Imperioli more often, and not in some organized crime movie or series. He's a great actor and a highly intelligent man. He also genuinely seems like a good person.
Listening to him on the podcast it’s sometimes hard differentiate him from Christopher but when he spits out some of his knowledge on different subjects (for me it’s his music/band knowledge) it’s like whoa, this guy is incredible.
Boris Colic, yes that would be so great. A healthy James Gandolfini still with us today would be fantastic. That man had some more incredible roles in him. Rest in peace.
High Roller "Stu Unger Story" Excellent movie he stars in it's a bio pic about a guy who won the world series of poker three times. His acting is superior in this.
Its so interesting watching this and seeing Michael Imperioli and Steve Schirripa as the good guys, it makes me happy actually seeing these guys on the right side of morality
Same like I know the dudes they played were just characters but it just adds so much to the respect asides from how they played their character so well - that they had really great thoughts to share here.
@@RazorStormInc did we watch the same show? they're all terrible people, christopher was an abusive junkie - probably the second worst person in the crew after tony himself.
Imperioli has always seemed like one of the only truly genuine Hollywood types out there. Always chill. Always intelligent. Always without ego. Respect.
@@MalloryNewcomb It was several months ago when they talked about Prince or his manager telling them not to look into Prince’s eyes when approaching him. Michael then said he asked the same thing of someone at least once. This really surprised me and somewhat disappointed me because I like Michael as much as you seem to. I think he’s probably shy and maybe a bit insecure or apprehensive in one on one type interactions with people. He’s human so any of that is possible.
Not only Jason Priestly had balls to punch the creep but Brad Pitt also confronted him really early in his career and tried to punch him but the fight was broken up
One of Harvey Weinstein's lawyers said to the press as his court cases were happening, "Mr. Weinstein didn't invent the casting couch". He was absolutely correct. This kind of sex for business favors has been going on for decades in the entertainment business. Marilyn Monroe, after she had enough success in movies that she was earning money for the studios so that she had some leverage in her contract negotiations, signed a contract where she was able to make some demands. After she made one particular deal with a studio, she was quoted as saying, "That's the last dick I'll have to suck to get a part in a movie!". Maybe Harvey Weinstein was so blatantly abusive that everyone around him finally had enough and organized against him. But he certainly wasn't the first, and probably not the last.
And he’s also a legit walking encyclopedia. It’s nuts. That emotional intelligence though... if you think about it it’s one of the most integral qualities to have as an actor especially when it comes to improv (the base form of acting).
He has one of the best profiles on instagram. Dude's into everything: films, books, music, meditation, politics. Very intelligent and fun to talk with.
Everyone loves guys like Harvey Weinstein. They could use him as an example of someone so much more terrible than themselves whenever necessary. Scarface said it “you need people like me...”
"What happened to the rest of the Gabba Goo?" "Is it true? Miiichael...." "You heyd what I said? His mama was woyking at the bom bom concession at the Eiffel Tower! ...heh heh..." "Do you feel depressed?" -Since my tv went black in the last episode.... Yeah...
As shocking it may appear... a lot of A lister knew about Harvey and his impropper behavior, you should rewatch his interactions with Jennifer Lawrence and how almost every oscar winning actor/actress thank him.
@@Smell_TheGlove well that's a way to see it because non of the claims were made when the "transaction" happened... some had prolific carreers, Lawrence even won an Oscar.
It’s an act, he has a book where he literally says he leaned more into his “goomba” role after the show ended.. also just a fun fact bout sopranos. If u watch the first episode then go the last season , you’ll see how HEAVY James Gandolfini made that accent towards the shows progression. The first episode he damn near sounds like Kevin Finnerty loll
soulstice oh ok , heck I’d probably do the same thing if I played a mafioso for like 7 years. That kind reminds me of James caan after The Godfather he was like good friends with a lot of the real mobsters. But that’s really interesting about the progression of his accents I’d never noticed that I’ll have to check that out
My husband and I loved The Sopranos, and have watched it from beginning to end many times. Each time you see it you always take something else away from it, it’s amazing and these guys will go down in history ❤❤❤
I agree. I’m currently through my 5th time watching. I’ve spaced em out every few years and there’s amazing rabbit holes and Easter eggs of cool info in the show…David chase is a genius.
For those who don’t know what happened, Jason Priestly confirmed it in an interview. He said he was at a Miramax party, had no idea who Weinstein was, and Weinstein was being an ass. So he kept yelling at him and asked Priestly if he wanted to take it outside to which the Canadian replied “let’s do it here.” He then punched him and that was that. Anyway, he found out it was Weinstein and Weinstein never messed with Priestly again.
The Jimmy Savile story is even more unbelievable. That takes the cake. From the BBC to the royal family, to the hospitals. He was a monster, and it went under the radar for much longer. Makes Harvey look like a cuddly bear.
That story disgusted me and broke my heart & what’s worse, as u said is that he was endorsed by the royal family& of course they knew!! All those poor poor children. That royal family has sickening secrets and I cannot believe some actually grieved that queen’s death, when we all know she took her grandson’s mother away.
@@StellaAdler_ it's sick alright. To think after all those years he basically had a hospital built for sick kids so he could molest them, had access. It's beyond belief, and it feels wrong to put that in text, like I shouldn't even be writing/repeating it, it's so bad.
Worst thing is it wasn't "under the radar" at all, all these people knew. That's even more disgusting and all those people around him should go to jail as accessories to crime.
It was happening live on TV. Go back and watch those girls squealing and jumping while standing or sitting next to him. Trying to get away from him but also not at the same time because they're on camera.
Dave Letterman literally called Harvey a creep, slimeball and that he should be in jail when he was a guest. Harvey and the audience just laughed but Dave was 100 percent serious.
Have watched the Sopranos three times over a 10 year period. It really was that good. Steve and Michael were beyond believable in their respective roles. Also, cant leave out the great JG and Paulie Walnuts was so iconic in that role. Both fabulous actors and would watch any movie or tv role they were in,in a heartbeat. 🎉❤
🤣🤣🤣. In a perfect world, Michael is supposed to meet with Tony and Carm at Vesuvio's later for Anthony Jr.'s bday dinner, but Bobby's got him tied up doing a podcast interview. Tony is getting super pissed looking at his watch every 2 seconds because he's got a play later and needs Michael for transportation and muscle,, meanwhile Carmela and Meadow argue just as Artie interrupts bringing dinner rolls and soup of the day creepily and awkwardly overprojecting his role as a host as he always does. R.I.P. Gandolfini.✌🏿
Steve is dressed like he just boosted a truckload of top quality fine Italian suits. Michael is dressed like his cappo that is going to take them for 20cents on the $.
Blindi he extorted them. Harvey was one of the most powerful people in show business and he would blackmail women into having sex with him. If they said yes they would get roles and jobs and their dreams would come true. If they didn’t, Harvey, as one of the most powerful men in the industry, would blacklist them and use his connections to make sure they wouldn’t get any roles or jobs ever again
@@BSultimate These arrests are happening because of Trump. Trump infiltrated and investigated them now they are being exposed and going down. You should thank the big man
If the Oscars had any dignity left then actor Jason Priestley would be the proud recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award for punching Harvey Weinstein in the face.
Maureen O Hara a famous actress from ireland gave an interview in the 1930s calling out the casting couch mentality of hollywood and had her career ruined because she would not be used.
She had integrity. Being Irish and (maybe) poor, she understood that money is not everything. In the olden days, most Irish (Ireland Boys Hooray!)☘️ people had next to no material possessions, but they were rich in decency.
Corey Feldman didn't say shit "back in the day". Feldman dangled full disclosure in front of people, but made it contingent on being paid $10 million to make a movie about it. I have no doubt whatsoever that there are powerful Hollywood people who have preyed on women and children. I also believe Corey Feldman when he says that he saw and experienced horrible things during his Hollywood childhood. But crowdfunding for a $10 million exposé was sleazy, and a slap in the face to every victim of Hollywood's predator class.
Courtney Love was way ahead of Feldman, and didn't try to sleaze millions out of people to tell the story. Brad Pitt and Gwyneth Paltrow challenged him way back in the day when he tried his slime on paltrow. Pitt went after him. There are multiple people who warned about him. There were also multiple people around him who were enabling him and helping him in his predatory and sick ways.
The beauty of this is you feel like your hanging out with Christopher and Bobby thier character is so true to their actual personality, give me warm and fuzzy nostalgia because if you've watched the entire sopranos you feel like their family
His #1 assistant (Leslye Headland) is currently in charge of writing and directing a couple Star Wars shows at Lucas Film Disney. She was rewarded by Hollywood for covering up for Harvey.
@@lemankurtz8950 - What? Yes, she is currently in charge of an upcoming Star Wars show. She knew everything, did nothing and has never said what she knew and is now doing incredibly well. Remember that she could expose complicit people. People that few him actresses to rape. Agents knew, directors knew, producers all knew.
Michael Imperioli replied to me one time when I asked who his favourite Irish artist, Actor & Movie was (I’m Irish) and he replied within minutes, what a genuinely nice guy that he replies back to his fans, a stand up guy.
I lived in Hollywood for about 5 years. The Weinstien story is a complete template of how disgusting the power people were even years ago when I was there. I was so happy to leave and never looked back. It's an evil, evil place.
What do you mean you "lived in Hollywood"? When people say Hollywood they're talking about the film industry, not the city. There's only one studio in Hollywood anyway, Paramount. You can't just live in the city of Los Angeles/Hollywood and know the inner workings of the film industry. Most people that live in Hollywood are poor anyway. They're not connected. The people that live in Hollywood don't know anymore than someone that lives in Wisconsin. They hear it from the same TMZ broadcast everyone else does. I lived all over LA for 25 years and directly worked in the industry for 10. Even then I didn't know much more than anyone else. Unless you're at the top and you're part of the inner circle. Living in Hollywood or even working in the industry doesn't mean you have inside knowledge of anything, especially after living there for only 5 years.
@@dangerous8333, really? Don't know how you work and don't feel this shitty aura around u. She's completely right about it. LA(Hollywood) is really dirty, creepy and dreadful place! Everything there is soaked in fakes, sins and nastiness, and you could sense it in the air. Most people who persuade their careers in this place have no ethical and moral standards, they're just fake and full of hypocricy
I imagine running the podcast correctly and keeping it entertaining while having it moving in a direction takes incredible skill and ability to handle millions of people looking at you.
I love this. Joes a legit badass. These guys are some of the best mob actors in history and they’re definition of rat here are the people who stayed silent. Bravo!
Tbh a big point of The Sopranos is that omertà is bullshit and they’re all rats who would flip if you threatened a week and a half in minimum security. I’m not saying you necessarily disagree (or agree) but I think it’s an interesting take presented by the show, as well as many classic mob movies like Goodfellas (yet dumbasses will still watch this media and talk about “at least men were men and they had a code”)
@@sams7068 exactly, other then the Godfather (somewhat), they criticize the morals of a immoral business. Scarface, Goodfellas, Casino, etc. They all tell a story of money being king, not code. When drugs came into the mafia, it was the start of the end.
@@sams7068 Omertà wasn’t bullshit when it involved Sicilian peasants in the 1800s who had more balls than brains and an idea of honour/pride greater than their sense. The culture and mindset became diluted over time with urbanisation, less religion, less clan structure, etc. It’s a similar situation with the Maniots in Greece, for example. Those guys were the real deal back then.
MovieMaker2100 I mean...Brad, as far as my knowledge, didn’t actually know all the details of the whole situation. He learned that Harvey sexually harassed Brad’s partner at the time, Gwyneth Paltrow in a hotel room in the mid-90s. Brad threatened to kill Weinstein, according to Brad, instinctively. He said that he “just wanted to make sure nothing was going to happen further, because Paltrow was going to do two [more] films [with Weinstein].” So, Brad’s knowledge was pretty much that he knew that Harvey sexually harassed Brad’s partner at the time, Paltrow, and that he put a stop to it then and there. Apparently, Harvey apologised for it, probably because he was pretty damn scared because somebody actually confronted and threatened him. So...I don’t think Brad knew the full extent of Weinstein’s crimes and actions. From what I’ve read, QT & Pitt had both been wanting to work with each other for many years but they were waiting for the right project and half way through the writing process, QT sensed that Pitt was perfect for the role, which, as we all now know, he sensed right. Anyway, that’s pretty much what I think the story is, I hope this might clear it up for you.
@@lucianogardelli10 Italian Americans mostly shame Italy and play in to the Hollywood imagery. The first time I was in Italy I was in SHOCK. I was surprised to see that Italy was the home of the renaissance, the oldest operating bank in the world, the car innovation, culture and history. Italian Americans are mostly educated to mock their culture through the lens of Sicily. Where are you from?
Ivan Correa I'm glad That sick Bastard is in Prison , because he was a real creep ! So many people must step up to rid of us these sick control freak ! And I know theres more of them hiding in hollyweird .
It's especially funny coming from him. SS himself can barely get through a sentence without wheezing and struggling for a breath. He's still right, though.
I'm fairly sure that the Kevin Spacey character "Buddy Ackerman" in 1994's "Swimming With Sharks" was based on Weinstein. Brilliant performance and an excellent and underrated (and under-known) movie.
I'd disagree. Both Steve and Michael have very different personalities than the characters they played. Christopher was wild and dumb, Michael is chill and smart. Bobby was quiet and timid, while Steve is bold and outspoken. Gandolfini is known for being shy while Tony was not in any way.
Michael is completely different at least. His voice is different and of course his personality. Steve is closer to his character but on the show he was definitely more reserved.
I worked in the film industry for 15 years. It's like a cult, the ever present threat that you'll never work again if you step out of line. It taught me about how many people will ignore bad things happening to others if they feel scared that they will lose their position. There are endless stories within showbiz that never get out.
It’s not just the film industry, it’s all industries in all countries to a greater or lesser degree. Even yet victims are subjected to atrocious behavior when they break silence. 🌲🌝☘️
I was injured in a set, due to negligence of union workers. My lawyers wanted me to sue. You can't, for any reason, or you really WILL never work again. I should have , since I hated making movies and went back to real theater, where there are far fewer problems and less sitting around. And no real Harvey Weinsteins, at least not with that kind of power
"Congratulations - you five ladies no longer have to pretend to be attracted to Harvey Weinstein." -Seth MacFarlane after announcing the nominees for the Best Actress Oscar, 2013
Started re-watching Sopranos again because of the podcast. Still such a damn great show. It's timeless. Doesn't matter that it was made 20 years ago. Top 3 TV-Series of all time maybe the best.
