I really don't have much to say about that :( It was normal for me! Lol And I got into one of the top sororities and my other one was a top sorority too~ I didn't feel discriminated or anything during the process! I didn't consider rushing culture sororities. You seem a lot like me and I was just wondering if you felt anything different from any of the girls rushing because I will be in the same situation in a year and a half and I really want to rush and I am not interested in culture-based sororities either lol but I wondered if there was diversity and i had a chance because we're a lot alike and wanted to know if anyone made you feel any different! Joy J All of the girls were really nice in the houses and I honestly felt really comfortable! It really just depended on the personality of the girls (like if we clicked or not). But personally I didn't feel any different. I'm just a little tanner and have hair a little curlier? Haha. But that's a good thing. A lot of the girls don't stand out and it sucks for them because many of the houses won't remember them. My houses told me that they loved my look and they always remembered me because of my hair and makeup. It's good to be different! (sometimes obv depending on the situation y'know) The houses have to go through like 800-1,000 girls and they only chose 60-70 each (at least at UCLA) so you want to be memorable! As for diversity, I saw a few other Black girls rushing, a few Asian girls and a few Indian girls as well. Of course there's going to be a lot of blonde girls, but just make sure you're poppin' and you'll be fine! Also, I noticed the 5 Black girls I saw during rush and talked to all got a house :) 2 of them are in Kappa with me, one's in Delta Gamma and the other one is in Chi Omega which are also great sororities! There might have been more, but those are just the ones I happened to talked to. You don't have anything to worry about! Just be yourself and look good :) And yes! You have a chance! Lol. There was like 5-8 houses that would have been happy to have had me! You would most likely get a house if you rushed.

It really depends on the sororities and the school, the culture varies. A chapter of an NPC Sorority near where I live (I won't name the specific chapter because I'm not trying to drag anyone specifically) is known on its campus as being a bit of an elitist chapter because all the girls in it fit that stereotypical "sorority girl" look. That being said, I go to a small school and our two NPC sororities are very diverse, especially our chapter of Sigma Kappa, and our local sorority is the most diverse. I think there might only be three or four out of 60-70 girls that actually fit that sorority stereotype. I never felt out of place during my rush. I wouldn't say that it's a guarantee that you won't run into any kind of discrimination or that you will definitely get into a house, but diverse schools usually have diverse Greek systems. So if you pick a diverse school, you'll probably be fine!

Thank you! Sororities are basically organizations that have been around for many years to bring women together and also to have social events! So sororities stay active on campus, go to football games, school welcome events and represent and we also have parties/formals with the frats. All NPC sororities also have philanthropies, meaning like "women for heart health," or "helping feed children" etc. some type of volunteer movement. We also have sororities and do a lot of traditional since sororities have been around for many years. They also give you access to networking and getting jobs since many sisters refer their sister to jobs & internships! So there is a lot of benefits! (: And yes, it is possible to get rejected from all houses. Although it's unlikely, it does happen to some people who maybe are too shy and not friendly :(

I'm not really sure how they feel about tattoos, I guess it depends on what type of tattoos they are? are they quotes? And congratulations on getting accepted to UCLA! :)

You should! Yeah, they are both great sororities! Haha, well, tell 'em they can disown you then! (just kidding) But really it's your own choice. I never considered rushing an AA sorority because I felt like it would keep me in a bubble. The whole point of going to college is to expand your horizons, meet new people and step out of your comfort zone. That's also just part of growing up. I encourage you to rush the National Panhellenic Council Sororities (Kappa Kappa Gamma, Alpha Phi, Delta Gamma, etc.) they're really fun and have awesome houses! It's like if you were offered a job at the White House, you wouldn't turn down the job just because your skins darker or because your hair's curlier than the other people. You'd take that job and show them how awesome you are. :)

LeSweetpea New to your channel but wanted to clarify something's. I went to a racially diverse high school. However my college was almost 80% white. So I was use to socializing with a diverse group. I pledged a historically black sorority and never felt like I was in a bubble. Many of the historically black fraternities and sororities had members of different races. Including my sorority. Because despite the misconceptions. It also expands your horizons in and outside of college. Cause it is a lifetime commitment. But many npc sororities who often recruit minorities to meet quotes. Also npc sororities are cliquish the members just hang out with other members only. So how far are you really expanding your horizons. It comes down to a preference, which is that minorities who choose npc organizations often just prefer to hangout with non-minorities (whites). So just say that's why you chose. Instead of putting incorrect stereotypes on historically black organizations.

holligolightly1 Woah, you blew that way out of proportion! My closest friend in my sorority isn't even white. Some are, some are not. Race isn't something that plays a part in who my friends are. It's about personality and who I can actually relate to. I have nothing against people joining cultural based sororities, I just didn't want to join one myself! Which is fine! I'm involved in other Black organizations at my school.. just didn't need my sorority to be. I don't know why your bashing and generalizing NPC sororities so harshly! They don't need to meet quotas and PLENTY of girls in my house and other houses hang out/have best friends at other houses including myself. I have friends in Pi Phi, Delta Gamma, and others as well. Most Black/other minorities girls don't rush so how would the houses even meet quotas when there 100% isn't even enough minorities that rush to meet those theoretical quotas? I didn't choose because I prefer to hang out with non-minorities??? My pool of friends is so culturally diverse? Filipino, Japanese, Mixed, Indonesian, Viet, Mexican, White, South African, the list goes on.. First of all.. Lmao! You really don't know me and I don't know why you feel the need to judge so hard just because I did not have an interest in joining a Black sorority. It's really not a big deal for you! ps. It wasn't a stereotype, it was an opinion! There's no facts saying that I would actually be stuck in a bubble, I'm sure there's many opportunities in Black sororities as well, it just isn't what I was interested in! If you want to stay close to your people that's good! But your parents shouldn't be wanting to disown you just because you want to join an NPC sorority like she said above. You shouldn't feel obligated to join a certain sorority just because of your race. THAT'S what I mean by keeping yourself in a bubble. I don't know the girl, maybe she's been raised around Blacks her whole life mostly. That's keeping yourself in a bubble.

I love your response. I get some backlash from my relatives about rushing a non-AA sorority (but they've been on my case since I chose a state school over Cornell, so they're not the happiest), but sometimes, you don't even have the option to rush an AA sorority. My school is tiny, so we only have 2 NPC sororities and a local one. I don't have the option of joining an AA sorority, and it always seems that they'd rather me join nothing, than join a non-AA sorority.

I don't have any advice for being mixed in a sorority, just be friendly and be yourself :) I haven't done anything special particularly because of my race

Cazshmir no it’s your choice if you want to try to join one. only 20-30% of students join a sorority or fraternity. They’re very expensive. Just be yourself ~ that’s all you can do

natenri you're notified because each day you get a list of the houses that want you back it's possible to not get a list one day since the process takes 4-5 days

the first day you go to 11, the next day you get a max of 8 back, then max 5 then 2, then you can get 1 bid on the last day. it's possibly to only get like 2 back on the second day and then your choices would be slim...

It's just an all girls traditional social club. We have do volunteer work, study together, have parties with the fraternities, help each other get jobs/internships and make friends with students in your grade & students who already know the ropes of the school.

No. Typically there are already people living in the house since school year has already started and housing contracts have already been signed. Sometimes there is 1-5 open spaces in the house, but the new pledge class is around 50-60 girls, so you wouldn't necessarily move in right when you join. Only a few girls wanted to move in, so those 4-5 did. Typically you are a new pledge during your first year, so you live in during your second and/or third year in the sorority. I didn't want any of the spaces in the house because I wanted to live in the dorms for my first year. The food is amazing at the UCLA dining halls 😊 So most people don't want to move out of the dorms right away. I also have a lot of friends in my dorm hall so I wouldn't want to move away from them after I had just met them 😊 But it's your choice if you wanna live in the house or not. There's about 50 spaces in the house and 200 girls in the sorority so only 1/4 live in anyways. You just have to live in at some point, unless you rush as a junior or senior, then you don't have to (depending on the sorority) :)

It depends on the school. Some schools do their formal recruitment before classes officially start, so those pledges would be able to move right into the house.

I always wanted to a NPC Sorority so I wasn't interested in joining the HB Sororities!

Black Cherry looks like she is the only person of color in her sorority. But she has to go where she fits in. As she said there was other sororities that did not pick her. I don't think she would fit as a AKA or DELTA. not putting her down but I think she made the right decision at the end of the day.

Thanks! There's African American, Latina/Latino, Asian etc. sororities. I don't know that much about them since I'm not in one, but I'd assume that the sororities were founded by people that identify as those ethnicities. Historically those sororities and fraternities are associated with those ethnicities. ~ I know the African American ones are called the "Divine 9" so you find more info if you googled it!

The sorority houses? They're more like mansions filled with tons of rooms! And unlike the dorms, they have kitchens, dining rooms, TV rooms and living rooms! It's a bit similar to the dorms but different as well!

LeSweetpea The Divine Nine consists of the 9 historically Black Greek lettered organizations (fraternities and sororities). Although they are historically Black, all races/cultures are welcomed. Fraternities: Alpha Phi Alpha, Kappa Alpha Psi, Omega Psi Phi, Phi Beta Sigma, and Iota Phi Theta. Sororities: Alpha Kappa Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta, Zeta Phi Beta, and Sigma Gamma Rho. You can type in "Alpha Kappa Alpha probate" or "Delta Sigma Theta probate" for example to see them crossing into the sorority. You can also do a Google search to learn more about these organizations. I have family and friends who are a part of some of these organizations. Unfortunately while I was in college the sorority I wanted to pledge was suspended from my campus.

Did you see the previous video too? It was a 4-day (usually 5-day) process that was from 8am to almost 12 am every day with hardly any breaks for some. In no way did it feel like "that's all I have to do" 😂 It was quite long and tiring. Many girls dropped after going through the first day and/or second day. It started with 1,000+ girls and I think only 600-700 went all the way through.. My sorority has a no hazing policy and I believe the other sororities at my school do too. It depends on which school you go to and which sorority you join~

LeSweetpea At a Historically Black College/University, when people cross/pledge it's a lot more secretive/discrete. Family/friends usually don't even know that person is on "line"until their probate. It's pretty much a school year long process, that consist of a lot of interest meetings that are "hush hush". There is some hazing that happens, which clearly isn't suppose to. Those are just a couple of things that I know of. I'm an alumni of an HBCU, with a lot of surrounding PWIs

Type in alpha kappa alpha probate to see a sorority or kappa alpha psi probate to see a fraternity. I didn't cross or pledge because the sorority I wanted to be apart of was always "kicked off the yard" or suspended, due to hazing. There are also various races/ethnicities that are apart of The Divine Nine.

Lots of parties with frats, we go to all of the main school events (football games, welcome events, basketball games), we do volunteering, we have girls days (sisterhood), have events at our sorority house, and overall us girls all hang out and do normal things with the friends we make within the sorority! Also, it's a great network for jobs! Lots of the girls in sororities do internships so they always refer a sister to take their place once their job is over. Also brands like to work with sororities since there's so many girls. Overall it's a network for friends and for business! It keeps you involved. And I know who Levi is because I watched Attack on Titan! Lol I used to watch tons of anime & I still watch it occasionally, but I watched AOT a while ago! can't wait for S2 :) I also go to anime expos!
