2nd Greatest Live Guitar Solo Of All Time.... Only because Number One is later in the show. I was there, words don't quite explain the experience.

Guy Pratt's bass work is severely underrated on this live opus! Maybe not as epic as the guitars of Dave, but almost near there. Love it!

Greetings from Canada- well done you! For something slightly different, but still at Pulse- give a try to "One of These Days", the early focus is on Guy Pratt's bass, while in the latter parts it is on David Gilmour on Console steel guitar (the proper way to refer to a lap steel guitar when not actually played on the lap). Enjoy. Peace, love and bellbottoms.

As good as Roger Waters was, he couldn't carry Guy Pratt's picks.
@DonHaka
@DonHaka Год назад
@@williamosborne6866 Now i happen to love Roger Waters musicianship, but i would be a fool to not give mad props to Guy Pratt for his insane chops. Guy is technically incredible and can do almost everything you would ask from a bassplayer. Waters on the other hand, not so much. AMLOR and Division Bell are up there with some of the best albums of all time IMHO.
@williamosborne6866
@williamosborne6866 Год назад
@@DonHaka Agreed - the last two were completely opposite of the last with Waters - offering hope and nostalgia instead of darkness and bitterness. Absolutely nothing wrong with DSOTM thru The Wall (love them all, but for different reasons), but Gilmour put a nice closure set - uplifting and easy on the ears.

I have seen Pink Floyd Live 4 times… I saw this same show Syracuse Carrier Dome in N.Y. 1994. The concert brochure said the stage is 120 feet wide. It takes a crew of 60 technicians three days to set up the entire lights and all. The concert schedule required that there had to be three entire crews to keep up. They leap froged each other for 92 shows with 20 Trucks per crew and a total staff of 195. The tour cost the promoters $98.MILLION to put on, but the total profit was $260 MILLION. Nick Mason’s drumming is incredible and matches Gilmour’s guitar emotions while Richard Wright takes us on a Magic Carpet Ride of tones that form the foundation of it all.

NOTE THAT the flickering of the laser beams is a video camera effect due to the recording's framerate being out of sync with the beam's motion. Live at the show we saw them fan out as solid light with no flickering or swinging back and forth. Just narrow beans spreading wide. The video can never convey the incredible audio we heard either. BEST sounding concert ever!

As great is this version is, the solo Gilmour plays in his solo Pompeii version of this song tops it. Not by a lot, but it does. Overall this is a better performance (Mason and Wright are on fire), but DG just reaches heights and depth in the Pompeii version that are at the outer limits of what he can do. Check it out!!!

Pink Floyd made their debut in 1965 but it was not until 1973 that they began to make themselves known in the USA and around the world with the album The Dark Side Of The Moon. To really appreciate Pink Floyd, you have to listen to an entire album because it tells a story. The Dark Side Of the Moon is a gem, they have sold over 360 million albums. My favorite piece is The Great Gig in The Sky but you have to choose the original piece. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cVBCE3gaNxc.html

@Xavier-Denis
@Xavier-Denis Год назад
@@angelagraves865 Everyone has their own tastes and the tastes are undeniable. Did you know that Clare Torry who sings on the album was only paid during the recording and that with the 360 million albums sold she never had 1 penny more? In 2004 she sued Pink Floyd and she won and she continues to receive royalties because it's improvisation and not a text. The deal is secret but she must be rich now but hopefully she will live for many years as she wasted 30 years before waking up. She's over 70 now.

I hate "HDPinkFloyd" channel... In this one they cut part of the intro, and it builds up the ambience for the guitar. If you ever react to "Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2" (same concert) remember the one in that channel has a cut skip during the actual guitar intro. Their official channel is just "Pink Floyd" and it has the checkmark. Awesome reaction to my favorite song of theirs! Another cool solo is from "On The Turning Away" (Delicate Sound of Thunder concert) and also those lyrics are emotional.

Pink Floyd has always transported me to otherworldly places like no other band can. Their stuff was way off the map of conventional "radio pop" because their kind of ALBUM ROCK was presented as a unified conceptual piece where the songs and over-arching ideas wove into each other in the most delightful and surprising ways. Masterworks.

People try to explain their sound and musicality, and there are no words. Psychedelic, Classic Rock, Progressive are some of the words that are sometimes used. And none of them ever feel right to me. Yes they have some of those elements in their music, but they can’t be defined by a word. Prince is the only other musician I can think of that defies genres in this way.
