My granddaughter saved a bee, we placed it in a bowl with flowers, gave it some sugar water. It was in my kitchen for two days, I kept thinking it must be dead by now.. no, we sat on the doorstep with the bowl, it flew off about a meter, then came back landed on her hand and then flew away.. the best THANK YOU ever. Truly blessed to have that experience.

My across the "holler" retired friend had two bee hives that he positioned about 4 feet apart in his backyard. He placed his lawn chair in between the hives and would have his morning coffee there. Later on in the morning he would read his bible in the lawn chair and in the afternoon he read the newspaper in it. The bees knew him as a non-dangerous neighbor and when it came time to harvest the honey he didn't have to smoke the hive or wear a hood or wear any protective clothing because the bees knew he was their neighbor friend.

Hint. Avoid cutting your lawn full of dandelions in the spring. Bees love dandelion flowers. Give them the month of May to get the nutrition they need to keep going! We never do the first cut until most of the flowers are done, usually the month of May and a bit into June. Yes, the grass gets long, but it makes excellent mulch for the garden. @@spamm0145 Symbiotic relationships and homeostatic control have both been shown to be evolved processes through trial and error. I believe in God, too, but I think that God has developed the world through naturalistic processes, such as cosmic microwave background radiation, entropy, and evolution. Surely, an omniscient god would be capable of creating the universe through both random chance and purposeful driving forces? The evidence points us towards naturalistic processes like evolution: an undeniable fact.
@weltschmerzistofthaufig2440
@weltschmerzistofthaufig2440 9 месяцев назад
@@MastaE2288 We call such relations symbiotic relationships, and evolution actually explains them very well! For instance, the endosymbiotic cell theory displays how prokaryotic cells engulfed by larger ones evolved to become mitochondria and chloroplasts, allowing multicellular life to evolve! Many such relationships are also based on interactions between organisms in a specific environment. As such, the ancestors of bees interacted with the first angiosperms in such a way that they were able to transfer pollen from anthers and stigma, reducing the tendency of angiosperms to pollinate one another via the wind. This is why we see two different types of pollination, wind and insect, today, as the latter developed a symbiosis with the ancestors of bees and other pollinators today. Evolution certainly provides an answer for the entirety of the development of life!

Of course, this could all be a fabrication of the mind and we could be wrong, but there's no guarantee that you are correct, either. This is not a dichotomy. This is wonderful! Plants can also ''see'' and react to different objects (even man-made ones), plants also communicate through the mycellian network kilometers around and inform other plants nearby of a potential danger so that they can protect themselves by producing irritating or poisonous substances. Some trees have symbiotic relations with insects providing them with shelter and food in exchange of protection. They also recognize their own progeniture and manage to bring them the nutriments they need when they need them. Somehow (and I have no idea if this is true), I always had the feeling trees needed birds and their songs to grow and thrive in a kinda symbiotic relation as well. This place is so magnificent and full of marvels it's despicable how we let it be destroyed and stepped on by soulless people.

Also how did so many seeds all form differently at the same time, like oak. So many examples. Evolution is only a theory. If you really study just one animal species you’ll find evolution impossible. the first creatures relied on non biological nutrition from the environment, such as the substances constantly being spewed from deep sea vents. Also, what is the difference between microevolution and microevolution? there is an example I like to use- we know that creatures can change the size of body parts or the entire body with microevolution, get less or more hair through microevolution, and mammoths and elephants are different species. so what if the world got colder, and only individuals with bigger bodies and thus higher body temperatures could survive? they would change size. now, the same thing would happen to the next generation, and the next, and so on and so forth. toc stay even warmer, they developed thicker and thicker hair. after millions of years, the earth warms up again, and because of this they get smaller and lose their hair to not die from overheating. the size change and more hair were from microevolution, yet multiple stacked together over millions of years became macroevolution.@@Beekeeping4Hope

As both an entomologist specializing in social insects (and a former beekeeper) and a Christian (yes, such people exist!), I want to commend you for a wonderful and informative video. I'd also like to point out that none of the molecular biologists have been able yet to produce a single living cell from scratch, which should make nonbelievers question their position. However, I would like to point out the following as well: 1) The speed and length of the straight part of the wagtail dance ("beeline") indicate the distance to the food source--the faster the bee goes, the closer is the food source. The greater the wagging, the greater is the potential food at that site. It is also my understanding that when the sun is directly overhead (which happens in the tropics), there is a very short span during which the bees don't dance because they can't use the sun as a reference. 2) Your video shows bumble bees (Bombus) and some solitary bees as well as honey bees. The former two groups do not engage in such dances. Referring to "the humble bee" is a bit tricky because in some areas, such as in the UK, that term has been used for the bumble bee.

How does your education in zoology resolve the contradiction between the religious and evolution? I would truly love to know. To me it is not possible to believe in a creator god and evolution.
@bobjacobson858
@bobjacobson858 8 месяцев назад
@@walter6574 Of course that's an excellent question. One basic starting point is that even the best molecular biologists and specialists in related fields have never been able to create a living cell "from scratch". If one can't create this on purpose despite the knowledge we have, at least to me it seems unrealistic to believe it could happen by chance...and then progress from that to multicellular organisms, and eventually to humanity. I like to joke that no matter how many times I take some sheet metal, rubber and plastic and throw them up in the air, I'm never going to end up with them assembling themselves into a new car...and of course even some of the simplest organisms are more complicated than a car. I doubt there would have been enough time even for all the possible combinations of atoms and then compounds to form even one molecule of DNA if it were based on "coin tosses". I'm sure that you are aware of the concept of entropy, and that left on their own, that things tend toward randomness. Therefore, at least for me and many others, it would take more faith to believe that random chemicals could come together to form cells and then eventually evolve to humanity than to believe a Creator could intentionally make humanity and every other living thing...and in any case, where would the chemicals in space have come from? It largely boils down to a belief in a supreme being--once a person believes that much, then it's not difficult to believe that life could be created. I believe microevolution takes place, in the sense that changes occur to living species. However, no one has really seen macroevolution, and there are alternate explanations for the occurrence of fossils and where they are located. The Bible talks about the creation of distinct "kinds" which could represent genera and individual species, and it may be that one can't change into another (macroevolution). I used to believe in macroevolution, but then I realized the biblical account in Genesis doesn't really allow sufficient time for this. Some people contend that each "day" mentioned in Genesis 1 could really represent thousands or millions of years--however, for day there was "evening and morning" which suggests "days" as we know them. According to at least one website, apparently "dragons" were actually dinosaurs. I hope this is of some help. I'm still studying this subject, and have a long way to go.

@@walter6574 there is neither fossil evidence to support evolution, nor does 60 years of genetic science support evolution, and it is in contradiction to the second law of thermodynamics; evolution is a belief system lacking in evidence. Therefore, evolution is a religion, simply one that is in contradiction to a religion they don’t like. I spent 20 years in the technical publication industry, had a love of science and technology on my life, long before I began to read the Bible. There is no conflict between science and the Bible, only scientists who are conflicted about the Bible. That’s a personal thing, not a matter of science.

Collins points to theistic evolution as an explanation that reconciles faith and science. It is a view espoused by most serious scientists of all faith traditions and includes among its adherents Asa Gray, Darwin's chief advocate in the USA, and Pope John Paul II. As far as fossils showing evolution requires two fossils to show it not one., the before and the one after. Let me help you out. There is no fossil record of babies turning into adults. There are no human remains showing the change from human baby to adult. Think about that. There is no Theory that is more supported than evolution. Nowhere did you give evidence that bees use the optimal route, but it would be interesting to see what "algorithm" the bees actually use. The "nearest neighbor algorithm" can be suboptimal, but is usually pretty efficient & I wonder if bees use it. This is not to knock any sentiments about G-D expressed here, which I happen to agree with. P.S. My question to scientists is why did the bees and other insects require such beauty? Many of our loved flowers, zinnias , peony, and sunflowers, are supremely beautiful and supremely designed, as are the bees, moths, and butterflies. You imply that the bees use sophisticated methods of achieving their goals like landing. But as you explained, there is a simple way to achieve it by maintaining constant linear change in size of the target. I have created some programs to control a virtual tank that shoots other tanks in a game. You'd be surprised how simple algorithms that takes only a few lines can create complex behavior on your automaton.
@KevinB-pd3me
@KevinB-pd3me 8 месяцев назад
Algorithms may seem simple when you have the luxury of libraries of high-level functions to build from. It's sort of like "standing on the shoulders of giants". Consider this - you can't measure a "target" until you do the image processing to identify one or more candidate shapes within the scene that may or may not be the intended target. Try doing that in low-level machine code and find out how very non-trivial it actually is.

Algorithms exist in minds. Attributing algorithms to nature is an admission that there is a mind behind nature. If there was no intelligent design in the universe, why would it be intelligible to our minds? For that matter, if the universe was, without reason, why would we even have reason?

All this demonstrates is that evolution is a truly amazing process. Bees have evolved to be in almost perfect harmony with their environment. Their mental abilities have evolved and specialised to provide them with flight, precise manoeuvrability, a detailed appreciation of their surroundings and a fundamental ability to communicate with their fellow bees. Of course, bees are not so good at say walking large distances, or producing written communications. They also have very limited and specialised dietary requirements and are often exploited by larger, more sophisticated creatures who steal the honey they produce. All in all they have evolved to become the experts in their field, now we humans just have to make sure we do not allow them to become extinct.

@@FrikInCasualMode That is a not my claim. Show me where I made that claim? I didn’t. And if your premise for not believing something because you “Haven’t seen it/them” is an extremely weak premise because there are millions of things we humans cannot see, that we inherently do, believe. To answer your question in a logical, scientific way, I would speak to the fact that we can see without a doubt, that humans have collectively since the beginning of our existence, always looked to a higher power for our source of existence and our purpose. This is a phenomenon that is inherent, innate, and instinctual in most humans. It is something that can be quantified and measured and proven very easily. This is the starting point for a logical, rational investigation to the quest for searching for God. The next step would be to verify the most accurate, verifiable, and compelling evidence surrounding this phenomenon, at least from a scientific, psychological, and philosophical standpoint, which is exactly what I have done. Are used to be agnostic/atheist, leaning in that I was more convinced of metaphysics than anything. But I am also very analytical, and when I found enlightenment, lacking and fulfillment, waning, I asked myself if perhaps immersing myself in the product, instead of the source of the product, was making me miss the mark entirely. Since I have worked in psychology and various therapies for many years, it was not hard for me to set aside my bias and my world view, to perhaps evolve a little more. So that is exactly what I did, and I begin to investigate the Bible, and what I found was undeniable, unequivocal, literary evidence, that even top atheist scholars could not disprove. I found that the Bible is literally the most historically, authenticated book of its magnitude ever written, with thousands of primary sources that are so close in comparison and context, spanning thousands of years, languages and miles, it was nothing short of supernatural, especially considering that it was relayed by oral tradition for the most part, for thousands of years. The only thing that atheist scholars generally disagree on when debating the Bible, are the supernatural aspects, and so they throw out the massive historical wealth of this piece of ancient, eastern antiquity, simply because they cannot explain the Supernatural accounts with in the text. Even though these accounts have thousands of primary witnesses, which is unheard of and has never been seen at that magnitude before, in the history of the world. Don’t be like those atheist scholars. They have seen the truth, and they reject it simply because they do not understand how things can happen supernaturally. Yet they are the ones who cannot actually explain how they believe we came into existence, without a Supernatural cause. It makes no sense. The Bible? Makes perfect sense. If actually read it with unbiased eyes and an open mind. And the “theory” as I call it? It is in John 3:16-17, Acts 16:30-31, 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, Romans 10:9-10, Ephesians 2:8-9.

People have their belief, but just because I am not sure of the origin of everything, I don't automatically think, 'ahhh yes, it must be God' even with that belief, you're just believing your god is the creator of it all, when it just as easily could be any of the thousands that have their own creation myth. It still doesn't change the fact that your god had no idea where Adam was, and he had no idea that both Adam & Eve ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. That alone dismantles god as being all knowing. Believe what you wish. I'm simply stating one of the flaws in Genesis as an example of how much of a mess it is.

The biggest problem with evolution is that while it claims all life came through a very slow, iterative process, we don't see evidence of the number of iterations that it would require. We should see thousands of species with slight variations roaming the earth, or at least in the fossil record. It is illogical that only the final product of each species survive would survive.

_We should see thousands of species with slight variations roaming the earth, or at least in the fossil record_ And that is exactly what we do see. There ARE thousand sof species and there is variation within those species. Before you ask, all living things are transitional forms. You are the transitional form between your parents and your children. You don;t look exactly like them, your kids won;t look exactly like you.
@fightingfortruth9806
@fightingfortruth9806 8 месяцев назад
@Richard No, we don't see them. We should see thousands of HAPLOTYPES. In other words we should see many different kinds of Giraffe groups. Some with short necks, some with longer legs, some with black spots, etc. Same with every species. It does not make sense that only ONE haplotype should be singularly successful while ALL others go extinct. The other problem with evolution is that it is not sophisticated enough to create such complex organisms. The early flagellum (tail) of microorganisms worked like a modern car motor and it would have required such specificity in each of its design components, no "evolution" could have led to such a home run of sophistication. There are books written on this topic, but mainstream science refuses to acknowledge these massive holes.

It’s true bees are really cool. And there does seem to have some inherent programming in bees, but micro evolution exists
@Dulc3B00kbyBrant0n
@Dulc3B00kbyBrant0n 9 месяцев назад
"Microevolution is the change in allele frequencies that occurs over time within a population. This change is due to four different processes: mutation, selection, gene flow and genetic drift" the problem is the source of hte inherent programming or original information being passed down from an original source. We observe this code and design elements in nature we can explain some of the changes over time as you say with those mechanisms but ultimately it doesnt answer the question and theism provides an answer for this problem of assuming DNA made itself over time as a philosophy when that doesnt seem to be the case as far as we can tell
@denvan3143
@denvan3143 7 месяцев назад
Micro evolution exist, but let’s not move the goal. Post: variation and species, i.e. micro evolution“ is observed in nature, and in fact, is what breeders of domestic animals have exploited for centuries before Darwin wrote his book on evolution. But micro evolution does not accrue to macro evolution. it is not observed in nature, and there is no evidence of it in the fossil record. That would, as Darwin described, require transitional forms in the thousands or tens of thousands or perhaps millions. That is not observed in the fossils. Theistic answer meets the observable data. Life forms appear suddenly in the fossil record with no ancestral force that would validate evolution. Genetic science does not validate evolution. No mechanism is shown where, in new biological instructions could be encoded without a source. It’s been found that the human genome is decaying at a rate between one percent and 2% per generation, and that buy some estimates, the human race will be extinct in 6000 years. Again, this evidence is in accordance with the theistic solution: life forms, and the fossil record not only appear suddenly, but also become extinct, to the extent that over 90% of all the life that existed are now extinct. The Cestic model, and the physical evidence comport, one with another, evolution is in defiance of the physical evidence, scientific research, and the second law of thermodynamics. And curtail the inevitable response: the sun is an open system, the earth is an open system, the solar system is an open system, galaxy are open system, but the universe itself is a closed system: energy levels within the system are reducing as energy becomes evenly, distributed, and complex systems Decay into chaos. The evolutionary model doesn’t work on any level.

Evolution is the theory of "It Just So Happened": it just so happened bees and flowers evolved at the same time, it just so happened male bees and female bees evolved within each other's lifespans, it just so happened bees have the mechanism in place to convert nectar to honey; it just so happened, just so happened, just so happened... How many trillions of "It just so happened" does it take for a rational mind to conclude, 'It did not 'just so happen': all of this was created from incredible design." I submit that God in the book of Genesis is Occam's Razor that truthfully declares how the creation came about.

Flowers came two days before the bees, not millions of years before. Being created 2 day's apart is pretty much at the same time --time enough for the flowers to be pollinated.
