I don't hear any Christians outraged at Moses having a man stoned to death for picking up firewood on the Sabbath, or having adulterers stoned to death, or having Amalekites killed etc. To regard Moses as being in the wrong in such instances is to cast Judaism's validity into doubt and by extension that of Christianity. Nobody really knows what Jesus did or said (and for that matter Moses too) on account of the Bible's lack of authorship (both OT and NT). So on this technical basis your comparison is moot. Islam is the only religion with authorship, so we know what Muhammad said and what he meant. By contrast Jews and Christians are guessing as to the authenticity of their books and their meaning. Clearly guesswork is not on the same level as verified material. The violent response of some Muslims to slander against Islam and Muhammad is wrong according to Islamic scholarship itself. You see what people like this lady deceptively do (and also various personalities in news media) is misguide people on the issue of sources of religion. Yes Muhammad's interpretation is the interpretation that counts as a baseline, because if you are being guided by a person then the intent of that person must be understood (authorial intent). But how do we know what Muhammad actually did or say or meant? That comes through a living historical tradition that is preserved in what is known as the 4 schools of Sunni law (Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi and Hanbali). The text of the Quran and hadith, and their understanding and application come via these schools. Note that Salafis DO NOT belong to any of these, but play mix and match according to their desires. The media does not tell you this and gives the average person the impression that all Sunnis are like Salafis when in truth Salafis are not true Sunnis to start with. Most Muslims follow the Hanafi school. Some caution on the use of hadith by lay people is in order. One must be careful to make use of complete information. Sometimes a hadith is fragmentary in nature and needs to be viewed with other hadith. Sometimes there is an issue of if it being superseded by other hadith. It is the duty of Islamic scholarship to put hadith into its proper context and in conjunction with the Quran, to extol the various articles of law and practice and history. There is no harm in looking at the hadith to verify certain things, but one needs to be cautious when drawing conclusions. That said, I can tell you that this lady is a categorical liar. Like many Christians who seem to think that pious fraud (i.e. flat out lies) is a virtue, she has plainly distorted the issues she has mentioned. For eg. the pagan Meccans initially mocked at Muhammad and his message, but when mockery did not work they resorted to violence. So it was the pagan Meccans who tried to suppress peaceful preaching. The case of Banu Qurayza is one in which that Jewish tribe broke its treaty with Muhammad by giving aid to his enemies, which resulted in many Muslims being killed. So the Qurayza were far from neutral. The Banu Qurayza were given the opportunity to select who should judge their fate, so they were treated more than fairly. Banu Qurayza selected a man called Sa'd ibn Muadh who was a Jewish convert to Islam they had trusted and they were willing to accept his verdict. But here's the real kicker - Sa'd ibn Muadh issued a verdict that was consistent with JEWISH law - i.e. the killing of the men and the enslavement of the women and children. So the Qurayza could not complain in the least because they were judged by their OWN law. The issue of slavery is always misrepresented by missionaries and anti-Islamic bigots in general. Both Biblical and Islamic slavery are not the same as colonial slavery, but the disingenuous would have us believe otherwise. With their men deceased, the women and children would have required care and protection - hence the need for them to fall under the authority of their captors. Of course being from an enemy people they would not have been allowed to just roam about as they pleased, so their freedom would have been restricted. On the point of "sex slaves" - it is permitted for a Muslim man to have sexual relations with the female slave assigned to him. It is not some orgy that idiots like this lady would have you think. The issue of consent is the same as for one's wife, so we should not imagine that the female slaves were being raped. The point of slavery was to essentially naturalize people who were former enemy combatants, so that they would eventually integrate into the Islamic society. Jesus never beheaded anybody and did not retaliate against his critics. You try to debunk that with the tired old argument that we can't know anything Jesus said or did. With that, of course, you wipe out all knowledge of ancient history. We have the primary sources in the New Testament. "Ah, but it's all been corrupted" would be the answer. For that one, I would direct you to a pair of debates between James White and Adnan Rashid on the reliability of the New Testament and the Koran. There is no evidence whatsoever that the New Testament has been corrupted, but there is internal evidence that the Quran has been. To maintain that we can know nothing of Jesus but that Islam has a known authorship is to use a double standard as James White points out, and as he would say, Inconsistency is a sign of a failed argument. But even if you are right, we would have to say Mormonism is the true religion because we know who wrote the Book of Mormon. Your argument from the relationship between Judaism and Christianity is just fallacious. Christianity did indeed derive from Judaism. What you ignore is that it's relationship is between promise and fulfillment. The Old Testament looked forward to the coming of Jesus the Messiah. The key is in OT law that says sin can only be atoned for by the shedding of blood, hence the sacrificial system of the Jews, which looked forward to what Jesus would do one day. Jesus was the Son of God who took on human nature and shed his blood for the payment of our sins. Therefore the laws of Moses take on a totally different meaning. Consider the example you cited in the Sabbath laws. Jesus himself declared that "the Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath." At the end of the day, Mohammed suffered persecution and came back with an army. Jesus also suffered persecution, but he died for them and forgave them. To all Muslims, and others for that matter, who want peace, I can only point you to Jesus the Prince of Peace.

In the case of manuscripts, you need a witness to verify that the manuscript is canon - a book by itself cannot do that. So there is no double standard. There are 2 standards, a superior one and an inferior one. It should be clear Islam has the superior standard based on the above explanation. Perhaps you do not understand what authorship is or its importance. Corruption is a related but different matter. Islam is the only religion that has authorship for its narrations. This means we know the people involved in the transmission process wrt biographical data etc. The degree of textual criticism that took place in Islam's early period is something unheard of previous to it. It is agreed upon by Christian scholarship that the Bible is if anonymous authorship, so the views of a solitary scholar like White does not hold much validity. Anonymous accounts = hearsay accounts, and while hearsay might be accurate it is equally possible it is inaccurate. Logic dictates that we dismiss unreliable information. Wrt your allegation of Quranic corruption, you make the same mistake White makes by only looking at manuscripts. As stated before, books do not write themselves; people write books. Anybody who was literate could have written anything. Therefore, all manuscript evidence cannot be taken as being equal in weighting. The living historical tradition is the reference to judge by - not authorless books. As for your assertion that there is no evidence of corruption in the NT, I suggest you look into the issue surrounding 1 John 5-7. Based on your hypothetical premise, your supposition of Mormonism being the true religion is suggestive of a predictable bias, which I will overlook in the interest of dialogue. Authenticity is an important aspect of true revelation but not the only aspect. So even if the Book of Mormon can be reliably traced to Joseph Smith, you would still have to analyse it for some sign of divine origin. My original point to you on this issue of authorship was about the role it plays in authenticity, not about verifying the claims made within. Authentic information warrants investigation; inauthentic information does not. Islam is certainly authentic and warrants serious consideration. The same cannot be said of Christianity or most religions. Now your theological assessment of the relationship between Judaism and Christianity is subjective. In order for your theological position to be an objective argument you would have to prove that your religion is from God (which you cannot). There is no objective reason why Christian interpretation of the OT should be given any preference over Jewish interpretation. You can argue what Jesus (according to the sources you trust) did was different from Moses, but you cannot objectively argue that it was better. As far as the use of force is concerned, Muhammad did similar things as Moses, so you cannot condemn Muhammad but overlook what Moses did (according to the sources you trust). The story that I get is that people had this infallible memory of what Mohammed said and wrote it down afterwards. I discount the BOM because it is clearly fictional and more importantly, it claims to back up the Bible and yet contradicts it. This is the reason I reject the divine authorship of the Koran. It denies the crucifixion of Jesus despite the historicity of that event. The Bible on the other hand, has what to me is the best evidence for its divine origins: the vast amount of prophecy in the Old Testament that was fulfilled in Jesus- his ancestry, his place of birth, the timing of his birth, he betrayal, his manner of death, and many more. It is clear that Jesus died for our sins and rose from the dead in fulfilment of prophecy, and therefore he is the Son of God and the saviour of all.
