So proud of SOTA turntables and the business which evolved to do precision stuff of other industries in order to keep going. I first read and heard of SOTA turntables almost 35 years ago (counting from 2023). Wanted to own 1 turntable but could not afford it. Now in 2024, finally I have 1 small baby - SOTA Comet VI. It's musical with a lot of liveliness and excitement in its presentation. Love it very much. Long live SOTA!

First sold them in 1981 . Have been to the original factory in Caly . Very nice upgrade on the tables . Bravo

I bought a SOTA Sapphire back in 1983 and it was the most exciting, excellent audio purchase of my life (coupled with an Alphason HRS-100 titanium tonearm). I owned that table from 83-93. This tour makes me want to own another SOTA.

We were a Sota dealer (Appletree Stereo, Rockford IL) back in the '80s. Even then it was fantastic gear and many of the ones that we sold are still in operation today. Our 'hot' setup at the time was the Saphire/Premier MMT/Grace F9e kit. For those who attend AXPONA Expo in Schaumburg IL each Spring be sure to check Sota's display there. Fantastic quality!

You prob'ly won't believe this but I bought a Sota Star Sapphire (has vacuum holddown) TT in 2008 for $2k US dollars. The SME V tonearm on it was in perfect condition and was worth at least that much. That tonearm sells new for $8k today. The TT came with the original smoked acrylic dustcover. I had Sota rebuild the table for $500. The new vacuum lip they use is much wider and is a silicone rubber compound.

I've just recently discovered Sota and I'm extremely interested in a couple of their models. I'm pretty sure I'm going to grab one of them up by the end of the year. It's only been about a week & it's already getting hard to talk myself out of it.

Yeah they arent cheap. Most people have to upgrade a few times before they have a good trade in towards a sota.

I'm in the same boat lol. This is the first I've heard of SOTA and those are beautiful tables, but it's a long way off from my LP60X

@@TheAngryRedBird we all start somewhere. 60x is a great table for the price. I thi k most people upgrade about 4 times before they get a sota

@@ToadHall oh yeah I love my 60x. Picked it up brand new at walmart on clearance for like $110, and it was the bluetooth one bundled with the speaker. Much better than the $40 magnavox one i had before that ruined a few of my records, and upgrading got me back into collecting again too.

I have a Sota Comet II I bought in 1997 for a bit over $1000, which as a 24 year old kid was a dedicated investment. It's been paired with a Grado Platinum since that time, and is still an amazing combination.

Nice tour! Bought my Comet in about '95 or so. I''m interested in replacing the Jelco ST-250 some day. Not quite sure if the bearings on that were ever that great.The RB330 that comes on the new ones costs more than my Comet did back then. Times have sure changed.

Wish I had known about Sota turntables before I bought my most recent TT. Even cooler that they're made and sold near by hometown of Rockford. Hopefully I can snag a Sapphire or Nova to bring back to Utah with me on my next trip back to IL. That suspension system would be awesome in my old house with floors. I'll have Sota sprinkle a little dust on it so I can tell my wife I bought it at Good Will 😂

Any models with 78 rpm speed, and variable pitch?

No 78 speed that i know of. There are a handfull of models that have pitch control.

I wonder what it would cost to repair an old SOTA vacuum turntable I have owned since the late 1980s. I think it is a saphire. I bought it used back then. The spring suspension is shot. It still works, but the suspension is a problem.

You habe to call them. As things change fast. But they will bring it to current spec.
