Last time I was there it was free & just the basic parking area. These people seem to have bought up a load of the previous "municipal" aires & campsites; more expensive, but decent set ups.
Yes, it was free when we stayed about two years ago. It was 'scruffy' then with lorries, vans and cars parked on it and Motorhomes parked in all kinds of places across the Aire. Now it's all marked out, hook up for everyone and the borne is considerably better. Some Motorhomes parked for free overnight just outside the Aire and if you wanted you could do the same but I bet it's a bit limited availability in Summer.
Yes, just put it up against the card reader and the barrier will go up.As long as you have more money on the Card than the cost of your stay it will work okay on your way out.You can top up with money at the machine at the side of the barrier - we had to as there wasn't sufficient on the Card - it took only a few seconds to do it.Have a good holiday
