Video game intros just aren’t cool these days. In fact they feel pretty nonexistent. SC2/3 have like my favorite intros to any game

We need to appreciate the time and effort it took Nightmare in full-clad armour, carrying a sword bigger than his body, to climb up that rock and pose like an absolute madman

This intro was way ahead of its time

Yeah. This intro still holds up. And now that video game intros are rarely a thing anymore, it’s safe to say this is probably one of the best video game intros of all time.

The music, introduction to the characters coming back, a story being told, fight scenes, new guest character scene. Still one of the best intros in gaming history imo.

I find it interesting looking back at successful older games. There's so much vision and polish that most games nowadays fail to capture.

SC2 Nightmare is easily his most most iconic appearance. No other comes close.

I first played this game 16 years ago and I’ve only just realised that Necrid didn’t drop that Soul Edge shard into his hand. He dropped a DECAPITATED HEAD HOW DID I MISS THAT? Also, goddamn I love this intro so so much this game is a video game masterpiece.

Man, this just took me way back and regained me old strength. Thank you for restoring this masterpiece of art.

My favorite parts of the SoulCalibur 2 intro are Cassandra, Kilik and Talim.

Back then SC2 game intro is ahead of time, tragically today SC6 intro and story scene are way behind today's standard.

As a long Tekken fan, Heihachi sits at home with me! Unpopular opinion, Heihachi fits the mold in the Soul Calibur universe. His primary outfit (not the karate gi) has a historical resemblance.

I know it's a very minor change so probably not worth another two videos but any plans to do the Xbox and Gamecube versions of this intro? If I remember right they have changes based on the guest characters (Spawn and Link) in those two versions. Anyway, awesome video :)

I love the overall premise of this game. After the events of the first game (at the end of the first game, Nightmare and Soul Edge got defeated by Kilik and Xianghua. They were sucked into Astral Chaos, Inferno’s realm. The evil energy of Inferno and the realm caused the Krita-Yuga, Xianghua’s sword, to reveal itself as Soul Calibur. Inferno was defeated but Xianghua had to leave Soul Calibur behind to save Kilik), Soul Edge got severely damaged and it’s shards were spread across the world. For a little bit, Siegfried reclaimed his own mind, but despite his best efforts to escape the manipulation of Soul Edge, the evil sword took over his body in his sleep. Over time, Soul Edge rebuilt itself enough to the point of where Siegfried got fully possessed again. He ended up taking the helm of Nightmare once more. In this game, which takes place four years after Soul Calibur 1, Nightmare (as Siegfried) tries to get more shards to strengthen the weakened Soul Edge (as shown in the ending of the intro). Everyone else in the roster has their own goals that often tie into Soul Edge, Nightmare, and it’s shards. There’s the premise of Soul Calibur 2.

It always feels weird seeing Heihachi where Link should be XD I grew up with the GameCube version and never really was a fan of Tekken

In terms of cinematics and epicness, this and the intro cinematic from Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess are the best opening sequences I've ever seen (and probably ever will see, with the deteriorating state of modern game "intros").

Omg dude, me and my boy Will would play this one religiously, we would battle literally all day, I even remember because his tv was shit, when he would pick Cervantes, cerv would yell out a quote "burn to ashes"!! But my silly azz would yell out "bird lashes" we still say that bird lashes to this day, kinda a inside joke 🤣

Soulcalibur 2 is the best game in history with the 1, whatever they say, the years have done it justice, we will never see a game this complete with that gameplay and story, it was legendary, without a doubt, the best in the saga from 3 onwards, they are garbage xc success a remake of this masterpiece for the new consoles 🎮😎👌

Tekken 5 and Soul Calibur 2 openings are GOATed. No other intros get me more hype than these. Nightmare at the end is simply the most epic especially with the climactic thunder in the background. Reminds me of Guts from Berserk in his armor.

The only draw back part here is the Taki vs Ivy, the game on boobs take so much place that you cant see anything else, you feel that this the intro of some weird porn. BDSM ivy outfit always been a question for me. And the taki boobs focus since soul blade too. It break the immersive of the epic adventur style drawn here. Turning it into liducrous situation. Rest is perfect, but this part. Dam i would like to see how the teams dev reacted when they validate all the sequence.
