Siegfried didn’t freeze into an ice sculpture. According to the canon, Siegfried slew Nightmare with Soul Calibur and it lost all of its powers. Siegfried then decided to form a new Black Wind to make sure Soul Edge and a new Nightmare doesn’t spread its evil. Even though he could have retired and became a farmer judging by his Soul Calibur 5 2ND player costume.
