I loved browsing the weapons menu. Every single blade had a history behind it. So much love and attention to detail went into this game. It was a masterpiece.
13 year old me would absolutely agree! I enjoyed learning about each unique weapon. Its a shame that the one in the new one doesn't have the weapon displays though. That was my favorite part: looking at the design of each hilt, blade, pommel, and the little nuances that made them unique.
“SoulCalibur 2’s Healing Winds sounded triumphant, which is what it was. SoulCalibur 3’s version sounded melancholy and hopeful, like a funeral. Healing Winds was absent for a long time. Soul Calibur 6’s version sounds like a goodbye.”
Their is the Karmasuitical Naustics to take into consideration. The Tears and Anger after Partheloning that angle however Too adventurous for a "Simple Fool"
Simpler days. Not knowing how tough the future would be. On my PS2 on a nice day, I would play this all the time. Played it once with my neighbor (who was also my best friend) who moved shortly after and I never heard of him again. So for me, this song is both a happy time but also a sad one.
I got lost hours reading the descriptions of the weapons. I love it whenever I see one of these weapons being mentioned somewhere else, and where do they come from.
So many fond memories of playing this game with my older bro. After like, a 2 hour session on Weapon Master, we'd go back and look through everything we unlocked..
I remember back when I would go to the gallery and try to draw the characters with these references. The ones I remember drawing were Cervantes, Sophitia, and Cassandra. Hopefully someday, I'll find those old drawings.
Awww man, this gives me chills and memories ... I remember the first time I played Soul Calibur 2 back in 2005 and still have it lol. I always go to the Gallery just to listen to this masterpiece and while reading infos about swords
If I may tell my own story... Resolution: "A silver longsword granted to Godwin as a wedding gift from his wife Helena. He swore himself and this sword to her on that very day, vowing to God that he would protect her for the rest of their lives. But Helena was murdered by servants of Soul Edge, and the sword was broken into pieces. Godwin sees his failure as a grievous sin, and thus refuses to repair Resolution as a reminder of that sin. Yet despite its shabby state, the sword is still quite deadly. Perhaps guided by the hand of God, Resolution remains the most balanced weapon for Godwin." If you wish, you may tell your own stories. Your own tales of Souls and Swords, eternally retold...
I'll experiment with Shadowbringer from FFXIV "A massive dark sword forged by an obscure blacksmith from lost techniques of eld. Even more impressive than its large size is its seeming ability to warp the shadows around its wielder and the sword itself, as if guiding the darkness to slash those who attempt to evade its obsidian edge. Because of the imperfect work used in the technique to forge it, it has lost most of its potential integrity, making it ill-suited for deflecting blows"
A good tale. If you would listen for a moment, I have a few more tales to speak of. Deluge: "A sword thought to have existed during the Antediluvian Age, a time in biblical history where every inclination of human thought was evil. During that time, Noah was tasked by God to craft an Ark, as God was to flood the Earth to destroy wicked humanity. Yet even after the task was complete, this sword still remained, perhaps as a reminder from God of that dark age. The weapons twin pronged blade is excellent at piercing defenses, but just as sin is indefensible in the eyes of God, its guard is also penetrable." Prophet: "A peculiar short sword with an eye like jewel at the center of the hilt. A pagan blacksmith learnt from a foreign prophet that one could call upon God to perform miracles, so he forged this sword and many others like it in the hopes of granting this power to his clan's warriors. But the swords proved useless in doing so and as such they were discarded or destroyed, except for this one, which Godwin claimed on his travels. It is particularly well suited for fast strikes, but its short length makes offense quite tricky." Go forth and tell these tales, and if possible, tell others to speak of their own.
I return! And I come bearing new tales! Goetia: "A broken longsword engraved with the symbol of the demon prince Stolas, who is said teach the art of astronomy. Crafted by a vile sorcerer centuries ago, this sword was designed to channel the power of this very demon, but its creator was captured and burned at the stake for his transgressions. The sword was shattered and left abandoned, but it still emanates Stolas' cosmic influence. The wielders strength can be amplified by focusing their essence into the blade, but it will eventually consume the wielders soul." Solomon's Seal: "A holy blade crafted by King Solomon of Israel. The tale of Soul Edge stretches back even to the days of the Old Testament, and with his wisdom, the great King created this sword, blessed with a special symbol on its blade designed to contain demonic spirits. Legend has it that Solomon met Soul Edge in battle in the hopes of destroying the cursed blade, but was sadly defeated and his swords power lost. The blade's massive size still grants it formidable power, but it requires great stamina to wield." Treachery: "A sword that appears to have been created from pure ice. According to Dante Alighieri, those who committed the sin of treachery are frozen in the Lake Cocytus, unable even to weep as their tears freeze their eyes shut. A penitent knight created this sword in the image of this circle to atone for betraying his lord to his enemies. It is said he could summon the very winds of Lake Cocytus to freeze his enemies by using this sword. This makes it excellent for guard impacts, but the blasting winds make it easy to lose balance." That is all I have for now. Soon I will return with more tales, if possible.
I return with new tales my friends... some quite legendary as well. Enoch "A sword created by the famous alchemist John Dee, inscribed with the symbols of a language taught to him by angels. Dee and his companion Edward Kelley were commissioned by the queen of England to craft a weapon that could kill demons, and thus this sword was made to evoke the angel's power. The wielder is blessed with an increased resistance to damage, but since the weapon was meant to kill demons, its effectiveness is ordinary against a human opponent." Saint George "A lance modified for use as a sword. This weapon was supposedly used by Saint George, a knight called upon by a lowly village to slay a mighty dragon. The dragon had demanded humans be sacrificed to appease it, but Saint George confronted the beast and slew it, breaking this lance in the process. The weapon has a long reach thanks to its past as a lance, but the modifications made to it give it poor balance, making it difficult to wield." Soul Edge (Complete) "An evil blade with a reputation for devouring souls. This weapon is also known to be a shape-shifter--which form it takes depends on the owner. The forms it has taken on are legendary, as are the souls of the renowned warriors it has consumed. Only those with great mental discipline can retain their will while wielding this weapon. It can sap the life away from those it strikes, but its past sins accumulate in the wielder, destroying them from within." Spear of Destiny "A legendary weapon wielded by Longinus, the man who pierced Jesus Christ with a spear during his crucifixion. Legend says when Jesus arose from the grave, he visited Longinus and tasked him with purging evil until the end of his days as penance, and crafted this weapon from the spear for him. Longinus is said to have performed his task without question, guided by the blade when it shined in the presence of evil. The strength it exudes is unparalleled, but as a condition set forth by the lord, it would never defend its wielder, as a symbol of what had been taken on that fateful day..." Training sword "A wooden replica of a longsword wielded by Godwin in his youth. Even at a young age, he trained and trained to hone his skills with the sword, and one day hoped to pass this toy sword onto his own children. That day will never come sadly, and Godwin holds onto it as reminder of what he could have had. The toy is old and worn down, not suitable as a weapon at all, but it could possibly trick an enemy into lowering their guard." It has been done. All the tales I could muster. The weapons Godwin discovered on his journey were truly remarkable, as were their stories. But now, I would like to hear your own tales... Tales of Souls and Swords, Eternally Retold.
In the time since I spoke of these legendary weapons, I failed to speak of the very man who wielded them. How foolish of me. Godwin Lamb Age: 30 Birthplace: British Empire/London Height: 6ft Weight: 171 lbs. Birthdate: March 9th Blood type: O Negative Weapon: Broken Longsword Weapon Name: Resolution Discipline: HEMA (Historically Accurate Martial Arts) Family: Father/Deceased Mother/Deceased Godwin was born to a poor family; his mother passed away in childbirth, leaving him and his father alone. He grew prone to outbursts of rage without a mother to temper him, and he often ignored the words of his father when he tried to comfort the boy. Godwin set out on his own when his father passed from plague, allowing his grief to pull him further into self-ruin. Godwin wandered England, lost within in his grief and shadowed by his crimes as a highwayman. One day, he collapsed at the doorstep of a farmhouse while on the run from authorities. The family that owned the farm took him in and nursed him back to health, but whilst bedridden, Godwin was left to his thoughts and ruminated a great deal on how his sins had ruined him. With nothing but time to himself, Godwin turned to the Bible and the Lord, whom he had forsaken when he was still a young boy. As time passed, he was cared for by the farmer's daughter, a young woman by the name of Helena. Her kindness and patience granted Godwin a light he had not felt since birth and filled his soul with love. Within a year, Godwin and Helena were to be married. With the marriage came a special vow. His soon to be father-in-law crafted a silver longsword and gifted it to him the day before the wedding. Godwin vowed to uphold his love to Helena till death and swore on his sword that he would protect her with his life. Godwin's promise was surely tested that day. The Evil Seed had birthed the Malfested, who converged on the ceremony in a violent rage. Helena was slain and Godwin's sword was shattered in the carnage. Left with nothing but his broken vow and unwavering sorrow for his late beloved, Godwin turned to God to give him strength. In a moment of divine clarity, Godwin set forth from England with a new vow; To slay those who served evil, as penance until the day he be reunited with Helena in death.
