Crona is androgynous, not non-binary. We the audience aren't supposed to know or be able to figure out whether Crona is male or female, but Crona is canonically one and is fully aware of which. If the perfect editions actually changed this, that doesn't mean the canon was changed in any way. Also these are fictional characters, who cares about pronouns?
so as I understand it (and correct me if Im wrong) androgynous refers to the physical appearance of someone where non-binary is any gender identity that isnt male or female, so while yes Crona is androgynous they can still be non-binary as well, as for how Crona identifies I dont know, but at the very least I find it respectful to Crona's androgynous body to refer to them with non-binary pronouns. What I do know for sure is that people definitely care about pronouns! its cool to see something that you identify with represented in media, I know in a similar but different way as a Filipino person whenever I see a Filipino or the Philippines in stories I get excited
They might not be able to since y'know people art styles change although I for one don't know! I'd like to see the original art style but with a bit more.... um... Update?
@@Solstiiced That's not how art styles work. The art skills of the artist get better and they change their art style according to that and what they would like in it, but that doesn't mean they can't get back to the older one. It might look more polished for sure, but it doesn't render them completely unable to revert back. Maybe they could be out of practice of it at most.
hell yeah dog if they were to give it a subtitle I personally landed on “Soul Eater: Resonance” but they could call it “Soul Eater repeat show repeat show” for all I care as long as it happens lol.
I respectfully disagree, as the manga ending was complete ass. It left a fuckton of questions and plot points unresolved, made good-guy characters do a face-heel turn for absolutely no fucking reason (not gonna name any names, JUSTIN), and just left a bitter taste in one's mouth. The anime ending is the canon ending, AFAIC. It resolved all the story branches, ended on a high note, and most importantly, ALL the protagonist characters got the happy ending they _deserved_ after all the endless shit they were dragged thru. Do *not* @ me, because this IS the hill I will die on if need be.
@@IgnatianMystic test me the original ending was about how the benevolence of the shinigami stopped the world from going into chaos and It had kid kill the Kishin to show that he would not let the world go into chaos either this shows as a reversal of soul eater in fire force the next manga the creator made which showed what could have happened if the benevolence of God was abandoned and shows a world we're the Kishin or devil in it has tricked all of the people into believing that they are the true God thus causing the chaos and insanity that the Kishin from soul eater wanted
Completely agree with Soul Eater desperately needing a reboot. The anime is nice too, but it left the main cast basically halfway through their character development and just fumbled and ruined the main theme of strength through cooperation with the courage punch, compared to the manga which executed it beautifully. Spoiler: The whole idea of the main cast performing a group soul resonance to defeat the kishin, after they all used their individual strength to prepare this final blow which was in turn only made possible by building connections to Crona and the witches (basically the embodiments of social outcasts) is just next level stuff. Added bonus for also using the soul melody that incorporated every human soul as a way to return from the black blood ocean. Overall: Manga 10/10 (by no means flawless but the great stuff so massively outweighs the few misses, that to me it's still my favorite manga) Anime: Like a 7/10 or something.
yeah! Im definitely leaning towards it being a later shift to an anime only ending because a lot ideas end up half baked, courage comes out of nowhere and death the kids lines of sanzu for example, and the anime was absolutely robbed of black star and tsubaki’s new weapon forms
@@Tsumamii Crona also got hit pretty bad, turning one of the most interesting and ambiguous character arcs into pretty standard shonen villain turned friend stuff. And changing Lord Deaths hit list for evil humans to the kishin egg system makes DWMA less interesting/morally grey.
The manga's ending is pretty good, but it feels like the last few arcs fell off in quality. Crona's story in particular feels like it got extended unnecessarily and undermines the finale, since so much of it is built on the connection Crona has with Maka, which honestly isn't that deep. Wasn't a fan of kid's development either, he goes missing at the end of the yaga baga arc before going insane and sprouting nonsense about beauty in nothingness just so that black star would have an excuse to have their rematch to snap him out of it. Felt forced as all hell. As opposed to the anime where the rematch happens due to black star's downward spiral and its conclusion directly contributed to his character arc, ie it leaves everyone involved in a bad mood and Black Star is left to reflect on his actions. Kid's arc in the anime makes a lot more sense, where he doubts the intentions of his father over reasonable evidence only for it to have a good explanation and then he feels responsible for when things go south. Black Star's character arc in the anime is pretty basic, but I do think its paced a lot better than the manga. He's pretty much done growing as a character after the mifune fight and that's like half way in the story. There's the thing about helping kid with his goal, but that feels forced as hell, and a little bit out of character. Feels like the author had a symbolic lesson in mind but it didn't really fit the character's personality. Black Star was a character that's fundamentally egotistical but was able to put that past him if the situation really called for it. Having him follow the path of the warrior really doesn't fit with this, and having mifune die in the fight just felt kinda pointless as well. Really the pacing was just so good in the anime for the character arcs, with proper set up from the half way point, where it started being anime original, to all of the arcs getting resolutions in the last 10 or so episodes. Its something I've appreciated more over the years just because very few shows have this level of planning in them. I don't even dislike the ending, the show really sold me on it being a miracle achieved at the lowest point in the face of despair.
@@shawnjavery While I agree that the Book of Eibon arc, was one of the weaker arcs over all and could have been shortened with a better resolution, that's pretty much my only criticism for the second half of the manga, especially compared to the anime. Kid's crisis and struggle with madness always seemed very in character to me. Because someone that struggles with his compulsions to that degree would at some point say "to hell with it" and rather have everything taken away than spend another second trying to pursue impossible perfection. And the final step in his character growth to become the new ruler over order for an improved world is a vast improvement over the status quo we got from the anime. Black Star indeed completed his character development at the storys midway point. Though the final fight with Mifune is done way better in the manga and Mifunes death drives home the point that the Shibusen isn't just morally good but instead caused rifts in society through their uncompromising pursuit of witches and evil humans and people like Mifune that end up on the wrong side of those rifts may suffer under it. Like all the rest of the main trio Black Star reaches his true goal onlyin the final chapters by surpassing Kid and finally becoming the worlds strongest fighter after Asura and Crona are out of comission. Which leads to Cronas and Makas final arc which is honestly one of the best parts of the manga. Crona had quite the special relationship with Maka as the first person to care about them. They basically imprinted on her. And after their souls touched Maka took on the responsibility of befriending and reforming Crona. Makas main goal wasn't to create a Death Scythe but rather to reunite with Crona. Therefore the main trio reaching their true goals (finding Crona, becoming the worlds strongest warrior/the next shinigami) all contributed to the defeat of the main villain. The courage punch doesn't even come close. Therefore, while the manga could have been more streamlined it is in my book without any doubt the superior version in all aspects.
while Dino more or less beat me to the punch I do want to add on cause I think this topic is really fun. if youre referring to the rematch outside DWMA in the anime and their Fight in the Book of Eibon in the manga, then I dont think thats a fair comparison to make because their fight in the book of Eibon isnt meant to be a replacement of the DWMA fight because it also happens in the manga. in the book of Eibon (and forgive me for not knowing the exact details because its been awhile since Ive read it) Kid isnt just spouting of nonsense, its the Madness of Symmetry and Balance taken to the Absolute extreme, which I think was the perfect to take something that, to me was just an annoying and overplayed character quirk, and blend it with Madness, one of the core themes/concepts in Soul Eater, and with Black Star their fight is also again because of this amplified madness, and for black star thats Power, fighting is how he exerts that. Kid’s anime arc is fine. He’s suspicious of his Dad because of his history with the magical tools and the deal made with medusa, but the resolution is very anti climactic, despite the mystery around the magic tools Death is still clearly morally right, Kid was wrong about his suspicions and thats it. In the Manga Kid’s doubts over his Father feel more substantial as Death and DWMA are shown to be a bit more Morally gray, which adds more to the overall story as it climaxes with both Crona being on Deaths list & the Keshin being the same as Kid, a part of death cut off and become its own person. going back to his Kid specifically, this mistrust in Death has a much clearer purpose as his arc is headed towards him eventually being able to stand and lead on his own, taking over for his father, so his doubts set the foundation for the change Kid wants to embody, as can be seen with the witches in the final arc. With Black star, I think his arc lacked a lot of substance in the anime. after his fight with Kid and the overall losing streak the boy has been on, the Anime doesnt spend enough time with that as the next we see of black star is him fighting Mifune, his character is given no time to develop before his Climax, so this fight has to serve double duty, and they do it in I think a really shitty way the way he is killed by mifune for chosing the wrong path, then revived and given another chance to beat mifune. Black Stars Character growth doesnt really feel substantial or had any part to play because it didnt really feel like character growth at all, Black star made the wrong choice, but was bailed out. the fight just kinda happens and only feels climactic because the climax is happening around it In the Manga, Following his loss to Kid he goes on a leave of absence to master the uncanny sword, and so when he arrives at Baba Yaga Castle its all the more exciting, and in that time he’s come to Terms with what it means to get stronger and to walk the way of the warrior, while I understand what you mean when you say it felt out of character for him to go the path of the warrior, it makes a lot more sense when you look at his meeting with the Nakatsukasa spirit, when it showed him all the souls of those who came before and were consumed by the path of the demon and he even cried, it was Black Star being confronted with the very real fact that to go the Path of the Demon is to chose defeat, hes going to master the way of the warrior because that is the way of winners, and when he declares he will become a “Warrior God” is one of the most black star things he could have done. his final fight with mifune, on top of being one of the best fights in soul eater, is so much stronger narratively because it is backed by the personal narrative of black star and the growth we see from him as a character, ending on him Killing Mifune, who aside from the Maka, Soul, Blair, Death and Spirit, is the Longest standing character, his death points to the moral ambiguity of DWMA as Dino pointed out and Draws a point of distinction between Black star and the Path of the Demon, killing Mifune with a sense of maturity that this was what was completely necessary, and doing so with an absolute respect for the samurai, even going so far as to have Tsubaki weigh the same as a regular Katana to end their fight as Equals. and yeah, black star more or less finishes his character arc, and I dont see why thats a bad thing, it fit well and did great things for the larger plot and felt very conclusive. luckily soul eater isnt just the black star show and so black star with his personal arc finished can step out of the spotlight and other characters like kid can come in and have their own great arc, Black Star can be apart of the story and still be a great addition even if he himself isnt having his own character arc. Overall I think you’ve tunnelvisioned on the total length of the series and based how you think it should be paced off of that, rather than how it flows to create the best story.
If Soul eater does get a reboot I hope to GOD that they stick with the og art style. It’s so memorable and the SoulEaterNot just doesn’t feel like the anime anymore so I hope that they stick with the og art style

As you mentioned, the Soul Eater Manga is more than worthy of getting a reebot: More characters are introduced, the "side characters" are getting more develpoment *cough* Justin *cough* and the whole theme about madness and bravery, as I think, is getting better presented, not to mention, the essential question: What is madness and what is order? I definitly agree with you and that you used "Black Paper Moon" in the last minutes of the video....it just gives me chills :)
thank you so much! one thing I didnt get to in this video that I really love about soul eater is as you mention that strong theme of madness, and how it exists throughout all of soul eater and its characters, the extra time in the manga really lets that idea thrive!
@@Tsumamii the order scene when lord death admits that he could outright nullify all human emotion to create order absolutely terrified me and reminds me of the prophet or the Evangalist in Fire force, especially the current arc in the manga where you see shinra being forced to accept death
As someone who pretty much completely fell off my anime phase, Soul Eater is one of two anime that I still consider myself an avid fan of, even being one of the only anime I've ever collected merch from, and that was after my anime phase so I think that's telling of how much it holds up
thats awesome! Soul Eater is definitely one of the few anime Ive actually taken time to rewatch/reread, and a lot of thats nostalgia but I think even past that I really stand by its quality
It stupefies me how exactly this comment could be written by myself. I am the exact same,Soul Eater was ny first,it is my best, and the one i keep on a pedestal.

the only thing that would worry mw about a soul eater reboot would be the approach they take for the art direction. One of my favorite things about the already existing adaptation is how well they translated the highly stylized art and wackyness of the manga. Soul Eater has a very iconic visual identity and if they get it wrong this time it just wouldn't be the same
honestly as much as i would love it to stay entirely faithful it'd be nice to have slightly updated visuals, best case scenario (for me personally) would be for control over the series to be given to David Productions as they're already producing Fire Force which is also from Okubo, so the art style would be updated for a more modern look whilst still being recognisably soul eater.
Fire Force’s visuals imo closely resembles Soul Eater so it can be done! I have hope that it this would be a monumental announcement if Soul Eater gets a Brotherhood treatment.
Yes I think (in my opinion) people are scared of a reboot looking like Soul Eater Not! Say what you will about the story, but the art style is horrendous for any Soul Eater style anime. I know they made it more cutesy because of the protagonists, but it made the original SE cast look like fucking wax dummies lol. I’d totally be down for SE to resemble fire force but NOT soul eater not
Which is what they did with Not. Not's artstyle is just... no. I don't like that artstyle at all. I know that it kinda follows the manga artist's art towards the end of the manga, but... I don't know. It's just not Soul Eater.
I'm glad people are still talking about it, Soul Eater was really big for me and still is thinking back. I've got the 4th volume of the Perfect Edition just now after watching this :), I thought I should wait a little (since I've got the other volumes these past 2 months), but this video pushed the nostalgia in me to get the 4th one too while it's in stock.
thats awesome to hear! I think you really nailed it on the head that soul eater, may not be an objective masterpiece, but it was really big and important for a lot of people like you and me! and at least to me its a healthy mix of wanting more soul eater for my own sake, and also for the greater anime community to get the chance to experience what made it so special! your comment really made my day :))
You make a solid case. I would love to see soul eater make a come back but I won't get my hopes up. I'm gonna check out the manga instead to get my soul eater fix. Good video!
Stein and Marie are my fave characters & them running off after Stein is accused of murder is one of my favorite parts. Especially loved their confrontation with Justin and Justin’s whole situation in general. I really hope it gets a reboot some day cause I desperately wanna see those fights animated
It is surprising how Ohkubo writes both Soul Eater and Fire Force. Not that Fire Force is bad, but I really feel that Fire Force is "just a shonen". A good shonen, but one that sometimes REALLY fails to be much greater than a popcorn manga to binge read. Meanwhile Soul Eater hits DEEP in almost every character, not only the main characters. Ox's love for Kim hits deep even if it's an event with only secondary characters and it ends up being crucial to the ending of the story. The book of eibon arc shows how much even after everyone there grew up, they are also still maturing teens that have a lot more to learn about themselves and their insecurities.
we need a reboot of soul eater or a direct continuation of episode 35 adapting the manga, with the same animation, the original voices and that the same studio adapts (Bones), hopefully one day it will come out and that it will be soon
real shit, Id be 95% okay with them just rereleasing the first 35 episodes and then continuing from there (there is the small issue of the keshin eggs vs evil human souls that would need some rewriting so they dont shoot themselves in the foot for later though), but a full reboot would be just as cool! I think if they did it seasonally it would be awesome too
Ngl, I'd be down for a recasting of Maka. I'm not a fan of her Japanese voice. She sounds way too serious, and kinda nasal tbh. Maka's personality is so multifaceted, that I think a voice that can shift between serious and moe would be way more compelling.

I just had a conversation with my coworker about it this and he had never read the manga but watched the anime. When I have him the highlights of certain fights he freaked out. Haha 😄
Amazing work! Soul Eater manga is amazing. Even tho if the anime would follow manga it would have around 120 episodes, i still think there was potential for a lot more, unlike fullmetal alchemist brotherhood which is only 13 episodes longer than orginal show Soul Eater would double its length and thats the problem. Studios are less likely to produce that long series. I also want to mention how big of a crime of you is not mentioning whole Crona arc in the manga. :SPOILERS: I loved the moment when Crona made everyone unable do synchronize their wavelength and Maka had to use her father because they are connected by blood and how Spirit explained being family means a lot more than just connecting your wavelength and they will be able to fight together despite everything. In that moment Crona couldnt understand that and realized what she have done to one person that was close to her. Her mother. That made Crona completly lose herself, and that was... heartbreaking. Love this video, you did a great job and the hope for reboot will stay forever
thank you! length I can definitely see being a barrier to it getting adapted, but in my mind if they do it seasonally then it be doable and yes! Cronas character arc in the manga is absolutely one of my favorites both in soul eater and just in general. so much so in fact that I didnt want to spoil any of it at all (if watch closely I dont even show crona with maka as a friend in the non spoiler sections to keep as much of their arc spoiler free for anyone watching).
Well... Anime tend to be slower paced when adapting an ongoing manga. When looking at FMAB, it adapted a similar amount of chapters (26/27(?) volumes) in 64 episodes, since they mostly had all the content from a finished story, and could plan accordingly. So if it were reasonably paced, a Soul Eater reboot would be much closers to a 60-75 episode pace instead. This IS a problem since (unless it's a seperate team handling animation) bones handles MHA which is generally a yearly anime. Between that and the MHA films, could they really stop making MHA content for two years?
I was so hype when i saw the perfect editions, i just ordered the 4th one. I read the manga years ago at my local library im happy to start owning these volumes

I feel like lately I've been seeing so much Soul Eater lately, a lot of ppl talking about it and fanart, cosplays, and stuff. It's weird how everyone is itching for Soul Eater around the same time lol. Soul Eater isn't my favourite but I like the concept and it has some of my favourite characters in anime. I feel like a reboot could polish bits of the manga a bit but being loyal would still be an improvement of the anime.
I personally think there will be a redo for Soul Eater. The story is so much deeper than what we got. With how popular Fire Force was, I feel like it will happen. I didn't watch the whole video before commenting and when you brought up Operation Capture Baba Yaga, I fucking screamed. This arc is by far the best story arc of any manga/anime I've read/watched.
Im trying not to get my hopes up but I feel like yeah with the popularity of fire force and how the anime industry has had a solid amount of reboots this could be the moment!
You make a strong case, and i absolutely agree with everything you've said concerning how Soul Eater is more than deserving of a reboot. However, I believe the writer and illustrator Atsushi Okubo is planning to retire soon :( Due to those plans, there might not be a reboot. Heres to praying there will be one though, Soul Eater was the big reason why I got into anime and illustration to begin with
Well Soul Eater is finished already on the manga side, so it's not like the author need to write anything more. All he need to do is just take the money they give him to make an anime reboot, sit back and relax
Absolutely have been waiting for a studio to give Soul Eater the Brotherhood treatment it absolutely deserves it. Although if I’m being honest I want it purely because of the development Justin goes throughout the Manga, I just love how different and interesting he is compared to the show.

Soul eater is what I like to call my “gateway anime.” I don’t count pokemon or Yugioh because I first watched those on 4kids tv (anyone remember that?) on Saturday mornings. Soul eater was I started watching when I started high school and right after I got my first phone, which was an iPhone. Which means a whole lot more access to RU-vid and other internet sites to watch. I completely fell in love with Maka. She is a badass bookworm wielding and scythe and wears an awesome black coat and combat boots (steel toed? Probably). And the energy of soul eater is amazing!
I love how the manga is completely different from the anime with development of side characters like killuk, kim, and ox also incorporating the character of justin and his whole plot, seriously needs a reboot with that good bones animation SPOILERS BELOW also would love to see maka fighting with soul as a death scythe
Soul Eater was the anime that got me into anime. It literally is my most favorite show of all time. I agree to some comments that that manga is much better animated. I can't wait to see that. I really hope they will reboot it.
I whole heartedly agree this definitely deserves a reboot, it was such an amazing show and had a really great story, the manga was even more amazing I would've definitely loved to see some scenes from the manga animated as well as some arcs. I didn't like how this ended, I would do anything to bring this back bc if fruits basket, hunter x hunter, sailor moon, full metal alchemist and even freaking Fairy tail can have a reboot why not Soul eater. Either way amazing video. ^^
Gosh you just gave me one of my best trips down memory lane. Thanks dude. Soul Eater was one of the first anime I ever watched. I read at least part of the manga after the anime story (can't remember if I read it till the end). I loved it so much that I memorised Paper Moon by heart and sang it in Japanese. When Fire Force came out I gave it a go but the perv parts really turned me off, especially now that I've grown and actually understand what I'm seeing. So, all in all, Soul Eater was one of my top anime until I kinda... forgot about it, and then I didn't rewatch it because after being burned (ha) by Fire Force, I was afraid my good memories would be tainted if I watched it as a grown up who hates perv humour. So it's just been sitting on the proverbial shelf, fondly remembered but covered in dust. This video convinced me to rewatch and reread Soul Eater. Thank you for that. Now I desperately hope it gets a reboot by Bones.
The fact that the whole Operation Capture Baba Yaga Castle section of this video is just ONE part of the amazing-ness of that arc says a lot about how great it is.
Soul eater was one of the first manga series I read online. It was a couple years before yen press released it in English. I was super excited finding it available in store for the first time. I'm thinking of completing the series with the perfect edition. I remember finding the anime online when it first started airing but being completely let down when the videos weren't available in my country. It definitely gave me the push to read the manga.
PleASE I have been routinely screaming and begging at the sky nearby various haunted locations for a reboot of Soul Eater. I have been DESPERATELY craving more Soul Eater Content since I accidentally got myself re-obssessed with it.
Here after the final chapters of Fire Force, hopefully Soul World (upcoming manga; my guess) is a prequel to S.Eater (more backstory to Soul Maka Kid Black Star's clan, etc) and might get that anime reboot would say round 2027-28 depending on how Soul World does hopefully
Man I’m happy this came on my recommendations cause I’ve always loved soul eater and wished it could have continued ever since I first watched the last episode. I’m hoping it does get a reboot with all the anime’s out now.
I feel like a reboot to soul eater is becoming more and more likely given that fire force is ending *fire force spoilers* and the fact that fire force is a literal prequel to soul eater it could definitely come back for a reboot
I’m hoping with the end of fire force showing us that it’s connected to soul eater, it’ll open the door for a soul eater reboot, I’m hoping it’s close manga too! 🥰
Man, I love soul eater manga, it feels like its been forever since it ended. I didn't know about the perfect edition, I'll have to track it down. Thank you for making this video and reminding everyone of such a great manga, and brining back so many good memories
Soul Eater was the second anime I ever watched and I loved it, I seriously hope it does get a more faithful reboot soon. While I have not read the manga yet, what I know *from* the manga vs the original anime run makes me PRAY to see these things animated, especially after the let down that was "Soul Eater NOT" (To quote Lanipator; "Blue Balled for 50 years.")
Hell yeah dude, soul eater was my gateway anime lol the first one I watched...I've rewatched it so many times in sub and dub...and I've always wondered what the manga is like, thanks for the info, gonna totally pick up those perfect editions :)
Man, it’s just soul eater and no game no life that I need to come back. I watched soul eater in middle school and was watching it as I do something. I just fell in love with it, it was an anime that i actually watched all the episodes (cause i mainly read the manga cause my ass lazy to actually watch it animated)
I will admit, Crona's final fate is probably about the only thing I wish they would keep from the original anime if they ever make a reboot. I mean the manga version is just so...fucking...sad. That kid go through all sorts of shit just to end up like that, just no
Was just starting to think about why nobody was talking about Soul eater being one of the classics. Yet here you are going even farther saying it needs a remaster. You sir have my support
Soul Eater & Pandora Hearts - the two shows I most desperately wish to have modern reboots. Especially Mochizuki's Pandora Hearts, still holding hope as Vanitas no Carte has had quite a good reception with its anime. PH deserves a fully complete anime as well 🙏🏻✨
I just finished reading the arc with Baba Yaga Castle in the manga. And yeah, I liked it a lot better then how the anime handled it. With how Medusa leads the small handpicked group, how the supporting DWMA students were used in it and to how Arachnid was beaten. A part of me wants the FMA: Brotherhood style anime reboot just to see them handle that arc better. It might take a while though, judging from how long it took for Brotherhood to be a thing. Nicely done video explaining it overall.
I have never agreed with a video more. I've re-read the Soul Eater manga sooo many times and man, that Operation Capture Baba Yaga castle arc is still one of my favorite manga arcs ever. Plus I would kill to see the Spartoi outfits animated because they're cool as hell and don't even get me started on the Book of Eibon arc omgggg. So good. Anyways yes pls read Soul Eater everyone
The perviness is over-the-top. It killed Kid's last scene and Noah's book arc for me. If we get an anime reset, it would be nice to alter or omit them. I don't think fans would disagree with me on that.
Exactly, the perviness made no sense the majority of the time and broke the story immersion (at least for me it did). Okubo seemed to learn this after the first big arc with the reveal of the insanity god being under the school. Fire force and some of his defenses to criticisms tells me he might not have actually learned this and might’ve been yelled at by his editor to tone it down (in which case he should thank that editor because they probably helped the manga gain more traction and positive international recognition).
Yeah, these overly perverted characters/moments in anime are always at best annoying and at worst make the show unwatchable and it's especially bad at times in soul eater.
Ya I don't mind fan service but sometimes they put it in the worst places. I really hope the anime does get a reboot but I totally agree they need to tone down some "ecchi" moments
I fucking love soul eater. It's been so long since I've finished the series that I already forgot the story. But I remember enjoying and loving the show and the characters.
Would love for soul eater to get a reboot, two early ones for me I still have great affection for soul eater and full metal alchemist, fma got the ending it deserved in anime with brotherhood, but soul eater never did and became the first one I chose to read the manga after a complete (ish) story. Pretty much all of the others I chose one method to consume the story, a lot of them where manga afterward actually fell In love with the reading half of the genre after especially for my incomplets as id have the most up-to-date information for, one piece, bnha, and Dr stone are the primary ones. But I would absolutely start again for soul eater.
After hearing about some of the story beats from the manga. They definitely need to remake this following it. Hearing Medusa fall over like that at 20:45 than getting a new body is crazy. 🔥
I just speed ran your Kanata no Astra, ID Invaded and this video and WOW I know its cliche to say someone is underrated so I won't, BUT I will say that you are getting numbers on this vid and that's an indication of how put together your videos are! I am looking forward to more!
This vid spoke to my soul lol Soul Eater was literally the only manga I would recommend back in the day given how much i wanted people to read it! We need that reboot + it would be amazing for both this series and Fire Force to be a thing at the same time since the stories are connected in so many ways
I'm so glad people still talk about this series. Honestly, I've been thinking Soul Eater was kind of dead in the water for so long now, and it honestly really upset me. Soul Eater was actually one of the first anime that I ever watched religiously. I'd watched a bit of Bleach here and there, maybe some original Naruto, but Soul Eater on Toonami every weekend was the first time I'd ever gone hardcore for an anime, and it served to actually help cement my personality as an anime fan. Since then, I've watched a lot of other anime, many of which were admittedly better, but you never forget your first! And I'm so glad that my first was Soul Eater, because it honestly holds up so well, so I can still enjoy it to this day. Plus, if it gets a reboot, chances are it'll follow the manga ending, so a Soul Eater: Brotherhood would probably go down as one of the greatest anime, even more so than the official anime *apparently* already has!
at the end of last month i was intrested in buying soul eater to read as a whole and then i came by this perfect edition on amazon the days went by as i started to rewatch the anime "currently on ep 45" and then i heard the news that the publisher from soul eater in brazil will also release the perfect edition and im fking excited all i have to hope for rn is that they also make a perfect edition for tenjou tenge or a new anime adaptation
I think it's time we start a partition because I finished the Soul Eater anime but I JUST started the manga. And yes I did love the show, but not only do I want it to be accurate with the manga and the dope moments, BUT THE ANIMATION THAT'LL COME WITH IT. I want a Soul Eater Brotherhood so damn bad
I'm just commenting because who left this unnoticed?? I thought this had at least 100k views before looking at the count. It's so well made and edited well!!
I am also a big Soul Eater fan.. Who am I kidding, it's my favorite manga and anime adaptation of all time. But unfortunately or fortunately, depending on your perspective, Soul Eater won't have another season. The story is complete and they even did a "Boruto" version of it later, still in the same universe but following a new mc and It was meh. But that might be a good thing. I think of Soul Eater like Death Note, in the sense that It was a one and done thing. Complete stories that I can still rewatch to this day and enjoy how almost perfect they are.(because noone and nothing is perfect) For example, I wished for New season of Seven Deadly Sins and I'll regret it for the rest of my life. Other example is Overlord that is made by MADHOUSE and I'm mad at this studio because they never made No game No Life 2. But they still do Overlord for some reason. Anyway Madhouse has been down these last few years and after The Seven Deadly Sins, I feel no popular anime is safe.
Supposedly, Okubo wanted to do 10 more chapters for the manga. This makes sense since some major plot threads went unresolved. A reboot would be a golden opportunity for a "Director's Cut" of the series.
thats really interesting I hadnt heard that! you having said that though I definitely see how a couple more chapters could have helped soul eaters story resolve
The story goes that lagging sales canceled the manga prematurely. Soul Eater Not's 180 to moe fodder and screwing up the lore adds credibility to the claim.
So this is going to sound harsh but here's my take on the manga after it diverges with the anime. The story gets progressively more jumbled the longer it goes on. Villains get unceremoniously replaced with never-before-seen new ones, plot threads get abandoned or introduced on a whim, new powers come out of nowhere, world building is left undercooked. People really didn't like the anime original ending because they thought it was dumb and too abrupt but I feel the same way about the manga's ending and at least the anime ended before the manga started hopping from one villain to the next and became too much of a mess. So I'm one of those rare people that likes the anime more than the manga (though it's been a long time since watching it so idk if that opinion would hold up under scrutiny). I still like the manga and some of the later stuff is really good, it just doesn't outweigh the negatives for me. I'd give the anime a light 8/10 and the manga a flat 7/10. P.S. keep up the good work!
while I don’t necessarily agree with you, your opinions are fair and valid, I think the final arc (specifically the clowns and the grigori soul) definitely embody a lot of what your referring to, and theyre not my favorite at least in terms of how little they get introduced before hand, but there is enough good content left in the manga that outweigh the (for me) smaller complaints I have. thank you for the constructive comment and nice words :)
Now that Fire Force is ending and we understand the implications for Soul Eater, I have this feeling we weill get a remake after Fire Force is being animated to it's final.
I like that you mentioned that about the manga. I remember picking up the manga in the store and reading the first chapter and nopeing out of it but I might give it another shot since its been so long
How does this video not have more likes, this is so well stated and amazingly written, it needs to be shared around more so we can maybe get this series
