Ahh, Soul Hackers. The game so good, a completely unrelated company remade it in its entirety and gathered critical acclaim.

Great to see more videos about Soul Hackers! It's really underrated among other SMT games and it's great seeing more coverage of it online. EDIT: Play Persona 5 Strikers if you haven't yet, Haru gets a LOT more screentime there, considering you get all characters immediately in Strikers whereas she joins late in 5 and 5R.

I love the feeling of this game one of my favorites the atmosphere and vibe kinda takes you back to how 90s teenage SMT fans probably felt

When this came out I played it for dozens of hours but finally trying to please my demons broke me.

I genuinely hate what Atlus USA did with the localized names for the games. It creates this massive confusing web about what is and isn't SMT, especially since the franchise is actually just Megami Tensei. Here's a quick rundown: SMT games are: SMT 1, 2, If, Devil Summoner, Nine, 3/Nocturne, Imagine, Strange Journey, IV and IV:Final/Apocalypse. Other games that have SMT in their title in the western boxes aren't actually SMT but other parts of the MegaTen franchise. Atlus USA just put the SMT name everywhere as Megami Tensei stuff was never really released outside of Japan so it'd be easier to associate the games with SMT instead. Also don't forget that Devil Summoner, Persona and SMT If all take place in the same universe, so that's even more to be confused about. And Digital Devil Saga has some vague ties to SMT 2.

I'm a Sega Saturn fanboy. Soul Hackers was one of the games I used to champion the system. Didn't have a clue how it worked or played. BUT STILL... A few months back I promised myself I'd play and finish as many SMT games legit as I possibly can. I'll be honest I stopped playing Persona 3 Portable because it bored me tbh. Loved P1. Didn't mind P2. Everything Persona had kinda left me cold. If I see a game in a decent sale then maybe. The P3/P4/P5R games on game pass will give me a chance to revise my opinion... Every non-persona SMT game I've played so far I've enjoyed. Went back to Soul Hackers on 3DS and now I fully get it thanks to English. Really enjoying it. I am tempted by SH2 .... Then the DLC dropped... Ouch... I recommend this to anyone who wants a change of pace from modern Atlus. Let's face it the game is a 90's experience. 3DS port or no. I'm all about grid based dungeon crawling. Insanely complex maps? Teleporter mazes? Switches and their doors miles away from each other? Love it all. What I really like is that all this dungeon crawling isn't in a genetic fantasy setting. Happy days basically. Much respect on the video. All the best!

The moment you said it's only about 35 hours, I was like "oh shit, I think I can actually make time for that." I'm in my thirties and I get pretty satiated on most game's core loops after about 30 hours or so, I think the only games in recent memory that have pulled me in for longer than that are Temtem and MTG Arena.

Just wait until you hear about how in Japan this is a Megami Tensei but not a Shin Megami Tensei game. Atlus America just adds Shin to a bunch of games that aren't actually Shin games, it makes things confusing.

This is one of my personal favorite Megaten games and by far my favorite first-person dungeon crawler. Great review!

Just started watching the video so idk if you mention it later on but I HIGHLY recommend Devil Survivor. I believe its technically a SMT spinoff, but it's dope.

Much like the game it covers, this video is a bit old and rough around the edges, but still has enough soul to make up for it!

It's weird, smt games are not my kind of thing and for some reason i wish they were. I don't like the static 2d sprite thing, don't like dungeon crawlers or that u don't see your own characters in battle. Other than that i like where they are going with their characters and story (coming from someone who only played 3 games though). I very much enjoyed SMTV (SH2 is on my radar) and I kinda hope they go that route.

Persona isn't SMT though. They are spinoff in the Megami Tensei franchise. Shin Megami Tensei is main series in the Megami Tensei franchise. Devil Summoner, Digital Devil Saga Avatar Tuner, Devil Survivor/Majin Tensei, Demi Kids, Last Bible, and Jack Bros are all spinoff in the Megami Tensei franchise.

This will be my first SMT game, I only playing jrpgs for 2-3 years,and this game was on sale digitally so I pick it up. I own Persona 5 but because of 100hrs playtime I always choose another game. Hope this one will help to get me into megaten universe.

You can't really call persona a shin megami tensei game anymore. Even though it's a spin off. They ditched the SMT name and the game is not exactly the same. Even the fan base is divided because both are their own thing. They are different series and some people don't like the spin offs nor main line. Soul hackers 2 will probably end up the same way if given time.
