For those unaware, this is David Lindley. We lost him yesterday. One of the finest string players and performers to walk this earth. I had the record this track was on, bought it at a show. It's a fantastic record. I lost it in a house fire. You may know him as Jackson Brown's guitarist. If you like this song I recommend listening to some of his performances on RU-vid. Minglewood blues and Indifference of Heaven. Neither his songs but well done. Most relative work on streaming would probably be Talkin to the Wino too. Cheers everyone. Rest easy Mr Dave
Without Doubt One Of The Greatest Musicians of All Time,, So very Fortunate To have met Him on his visits to England, With El Rayo-X and when he toured with Jackson Browne. As you said People should listen to his albums . My daughter even had a cushion made for me with the lyrics to Turning Point On it. Its very sad that we have lost a Legend (and he Was). He has left a powerful legacy of Music from His Kaleidoscope days to all of his brilliant solo Albums. R.I.P David
@mann54 seems like an unnecessary amount of negativity, but that's typical these days on the internet. I understand your point but his music touched the lives of many, including mine. I saw him live in an intimate setting. I shook his hand. He was a good man. A good performer. I'm not sure what I said that was offensive.
@@processinginformation I have a theory. I do believe they finished the writing for the story at the season 2 finale and that was supposed to be the end of it. Everything came to a conclusion. He got revenge for his family, or the best of it anyways, Furgerson became a made man with his wife, Cullen processed his past and fell in love with someone new (lily) and he got to kill the swede for murdering lily. Sure, he didnt HANG but he wouldnt survive falling into the river like that, with his hands tied behind his back. Cullen also got a new purpose in life; the railroad where he was having a career. Season 3 then was a cashgrab and they extended the otherwise finished storyline.
R.I.P. David - not just a multi-instrumentalist, but a MAXI-instrumentalist. Someone once asked him, "How many instruments do you play?" David answered, "I have no idea!" Truth is he could play almost any instrument, and he was also a fine songwriter. He will be greatly missed, but at least his music will live on.
New fan to the series, I watch TWD(both done by AMC), but I gotta say Hell on Wheels is sooo much better. Can't believe I didn't give it a chance all of these years. Sucks that it didn't go on for another season or something.
How is this not more popular than today's pop country garbage? I have hated everything about country music for so long till I started listening to stuff like this. And this is coming from somebody who lives in a small farming town.
+Craig Tingley I think this is more in the category of 'dark country' rather than regular country. Regular country usually has more of a bouncy beat to it.
this is microtonal guitar. this seems like out of tune for ppl who didn't listen ME or anatolian traditional style music. But it's still out of tune even for turkish makam music.
Regardless of the quibbling over what genre this should be considered, I agree with the sentiment that it is far better than the market-tested pop country music that makes it to radio.
Not to be a complete douche bag, but Lindley is actually playing an instrument called a bouzouki on this track. It's a Greek instrument similar to a mandola.
I hadn't herd this until today.I have been a big Lindley fan for 39 years. This is awesome, gonna have to find a recording. Luckily I have seen him live four times.
God, I love that Blind Willie Johnson still gets remembered today. This song and John The Revelator in Sons of Anarchy, and Nobody's Fault But Mine in Fallout 76. Good music needs remembered.
Bit late to the party. Only just started watching hell on wheels and I heard this song, only to discover it’s not on Spotify 🤯 I agree with others this is the best version of the song I’ve heard
Şarkının sözlerinin çevirisi -Aslında yorgundum uzun zamandır -Bilirsiniz zordur Missisipi Kışları Missisipi kışları Missisipi kışları -Ama bir intikam sevdasına düştüm yollara -Kahpe Durant düşürdü beni ağına -Benden selam olsun Bolu Beyine Bolu Beyine Bolu Beyine -Demir yolu dediler çalıştırdılar -İşçi hakkı ne olacak dedik susturdular -Ölen öldü kalan sağlar bizimdir kalan sağlar bizimdir kalan sağlar bizimdir -Sendika kurduk kapattılar -Kızılderililerle birbirimize kırdırdılar -Aynı soydanız dedik anlamadılar anlamadılar anlamadılar
Turtle Hermit WaspInatoR oh okay, sorry I don't know the show XD (and yup if you come here again to read this shit you can hear that song once again ^^)
Recognized Mr Dave on the soundtrack; met him many times throughout Cali. At one time I had CA license plate RAYO X. On my Maserati Biturbo E. They can't all be Mercurys :)
Guy also plays acoustic and electric guitar, upright and electric bass guitar, banjo, lap steel guitar, mandolin, hardingfele, bouzouki, cittern, bağlama, gumbus, charango, cümbüş, oud, weissenborn, and zither. And I saw a picture of him with a dulcimer, too. Was also shocked to see how many of my fave albums from the 70s he played on. I'd give up a few 'teets' for that kind of talent.
Soul of a Man This song is by David Lindley and appears on the album Big Twang (2008). This song is a cover of "Soul of a Man" by Blind Willie Johnson. Song of the Day July 05, 2017 I'm gonna ask a question Please answer if you can If any you children can tell me What is the soul of a man? What is the soul of a man? Won't somebody tell me Answer if you can Won't somebody tell me What is the soul of a man What is the soul of a man? Well I've travelled in different countries I've travelled foreign lands I've found nobody could tell me What is the soul of a man What is the soul of a man? I saw a crowd stand talking I just came up in time The teachers and the doctors and the lawyers Say a man ain't nothing but his mind A man ain't nothing but his mind Won't somebody tell me Answer if you can Want somebody tell me What is the soul of a man What is the soul of a man? I read the bible often I tries to read it right As far as I can understand It ain't nothing but a burning light It ain't nothing but a burning light Christ stood in the temple The people stood amazed He was showing the doctors and the lawyers How to raise a body from the grave How to raise a body from the grave Won't somebody tell me Answer if you can Want somebody tell me What is the soul of a man What is the soul of a man?
Best western I've seen in a long time. It's very addictive and love all the characters, even the Swede, after seeing what he went through when he was prisoned during the Civil War. I have the whole series so can watch it when I want. Love it.
Hell On Wheels is fantastic, i found it at a thrift store. Just browsing the movie section and took a chance, brought it home and cant stop watching it!
It's sounds like Turkish folk music. Especially beginning of the song. The instrument sounds like ''bağlama''. You should check also ''Zahidem Kurbanın Olam'' :D
I love this scen when culling whent to walk off the train and durrant said if you try to rob me again I'll have him shoot you and common was standing there with that rifle.. smiling...lol
Jasper Wezenberg I believe this is played on an Irish bouzouki. I could be mistaken, but then, I've also never seen a Turkish saz lol minor detail, but still a great song.
