So basically she knew she was about to lose and die, but still wanted to throw ANYTHING at Kirby... Idk if that makes the fight even more sad or what remains of Sectonia even more terrifying-
Soul of Sectonia is easily one of my favourite soul boss designs. The ragged petals and black heart on her crown are real nice details. For Sectonia's sake we gotta put this flower down.....RIP.
I love how out of nowhere this boss fight is. There isn't really any reason for the player to think that there's anything after the flower form, in fact they might not even pay much attention to the slightly different "death" animation compared to the normal flower form fight in the main campaign and in the Arena. Then, in one last ditch effort to finish Kirby off, Sectonia screams and dismembers herself from the pretty much undead end of the Dreamstalk, becoming nothing more than a head and four wings. Yet, she's still tied to the Dreamstalk, as evidenced by the fact that she can still summon vines from it, which have now become littered with roses despite the Dreamstalk never having roses on it before, and that attacking them hurts her. There's also the strange blue and purple... smoke? liquid? coming from the back of her head. Combine this with the sudden paint and fireball attacks, it all makes for incredibly surreal fight and a far departure from what Sectonia has ever done before beyond the aforementioned vine attack along with the teleporting, enemy summoning and laser attack. Of course, seasoned Kirby fans could pick up on the references, but it still was very strange to see and arguably one of if not the strangest "Soul" fight in the series. I think Void is still my favorite "Soul" fight (even though there's already a Void Soul; speaking of which gosh did that fight just get sidelined by Void) just for the thematic and emotional weight it has, but Soul of Sectonia comes very close. Though, just like with Star Dream, there is some scaling inconsistency with this fight when compared to the fight just before, though not nearly as bad or often as it is with Star Dream.
I kinda expected it mostly because I feel like if you played Super Star Ultra before you should expect something considering it has the same name and it also had a Secret Boss Fight. Sure Marx's Soul didn't have a 2nd phrase (as no boss does) but it did have an exclusive cutscene while triple deluxe didn't but HAL did not disappoint.
The twist works so well because Sectonia's battle in the main game ends with a real sense of closure, unlike most final bosses in the series that feel like they maybe end too soon. So in the True Arena, when she refuses to die and comes back for one more round, _ripping her head off the Dreamstalk in the process_ , just the sheer tenacity on display is genuinely terrifying.
Despite this technically being the same theme as The World to Win, it gives off a different vibe since the original fight was Kirby fighting a crazed queen with a lust for power, but now it seems to be a battle to put the shell of an undead queen to rest…
Sectonia is like Marx to me. Even after getting bodied before, she's like: "You know what, screw your evening plans. Screw MY evening plans. I am going to take your nonexistent kneecaps if it's the last thing I do."
@SirDumbassXXXIV Not to sound rude, but, again, that can kinda apply for every soul boss. Marx has completely snapped, and he wants to try his second shot at tearing you apart. Magolor has been completely consumed by the Master Crown, a husk of his former self that desires only to destroy. Sectonia's extreme vanity leaves her only an empty shell that runs on sheer willpower and "f**k your existence". Star Dream's insane goal to eradicate all living life in the universe has a new goal alongside it: eradicate you. Void is pretty much everyone else on steroids.
@@soulofflame9999 Void makes sense, as it is negativity incarnate, pretty much Omega Shenron for the Kirby universe. But it doesn't hit the same because that's just how negativity works. Of course Void's going to be a giant ball of insanity. That's the nature of being everything negative all at once. Star Dream doesn't hit the same because it's still following its own directive. The machine had already gone off the deep end, you just happened to be the biggest existing obstacle in the way of their goal. Magalor was in no way in control himself once the Soul portion began, so the insanity isn't even his to begin with. Marx and Sectonia are the only ones that want you truly dead because of their own selfish sense of revenge, but there's one thing that separates Sectonia from anyone else. Marx, Star Dream, Magalor, and Void were all at their strongest and needed to be stopped. Their power would be enough to rend everything apart if left alone, and to no detriment to themselves. Not Sectonia though. Yes, her final phase was her peak, but she was practically bleeding out after she ripped herself from the Dreamstalk. Death was knocking at her door before the fight had a chance to end. Even with Chaos Elfilis in mind, she's the only boss to dat that was so angered and insane that they'd guarantee their own eventual death just for one last chance to kill Kirby. There was no possible ulterior motive. There no part of her goals that coincided with this. There was nothing waiting for her if she did succeed. Everyone had a reason to kill Kirby beyond just having the satisfaction of doing so, even if it wasn't their main goal, except Sectonia. Killing Kirby was her one and only goal after leaping off of the deep end, and nothing could have changed her fate from then on. She decided that if she was going to die, she'd rather it be certain than based on whether she can kill the stupid pink puffball.
Fun fact the first time I ever completed the true arena was on my ds. So picture this... I'm a 10 y/o on a family road trip in california, the heat is unbearable and I'm attempting the true arena again. All of a sudden my battery light starts flashing and the adrenaline kicks in, big time. I had never made it past dark meta knight before this point and honestly, I was terrified. I only had 5% battery left for this fight and, despite never having done it before started speedrunning. dodge, attack dodge, attack, repeat. And finally with 1% battery left she was down. Barely got to see my time afterwards before the battery died. I still have that ds. That was my childhood in a nutshell.
This was such a shocker when my friend played through of triple deluxe infront of me and we were in the 'True Battle Arena' he said 'Well there HAS to be a Queen Sectonia EX'. WE GOT THIS.
Better than me, I was rather young, and I was scared to do the fight normally. I cheesed it with leaf with the guard attack, not bothering to fight normally at all. Still find it funny even now
@@Nightmare41919 I've finished it with leaf too (another time) which was a lot easier.. but that one time I lost my ability so I had to do it without it 😂
for the longest time i had no clue this fight existed, as a kid i could NEVER beat the true arena, it was too difficult... but one day, i persevered through it all and finally beat sectonia... but then, she detached from the stalk, leading into probably the most epic battle ive had as a kid that i still cant believe i won -albeit i did use hammer-
She's fed off countless hopes and can't remember her true form, taranza's voice called out to help her but since fallen silent, before the night ends she must have given eternal beauty sleep. This track plays during the fight against the Soul of Sectonia in the final phase of the true arena!
If you lose your ability in this fight or the fight before it (I had Archer knocked out of me in the first phase, and it fell into the pit) you can inhale the cutter attack to get Cutter if you're careful
Japanese translation: “Throughout possessing so many forms, I cannot really remember my actual one. Where was the voice that was going to help me went out to? I don’t know, but it looks like it’s gone fully muted. Before the sun EVEN rises up, if you please, offer my eternal beauty rest.” Edit: OMG 100 LIKES?!? 😱😱
@@anankos795 yeah. same happened in planet robobot. somewhere it says that susie is still mechanizing planets in english, but in japanese it says that she is just using her hacking skills to help people.
Why do people think this is the hardest fight in the series? This is nothing compared to the twenty minutes of suffering ended with one hit KO attacks that Robobot throws at you.
Lyrics: QUEEN SECTONIA: 0:18 What have I become in this night? What have I done to this planet? 0:24 I have now gotten out of control Because of me… 0:29 My soul is now what’s left of me… It’s now rampaging in madness! 0:34 Not a single petal From my flowered figure… 0:41 I’ve been possessing power From many forms for too long… Now I only have to cling onto my beauty, And it’s gone terrible! 1:00 No longer remembering anything at all… 1:14 Eyes now flooding with tears, Hands full of my property 1:19 Was it because of my Horrible elegancy? 1:24 No longer reached by a helping, No longer hearing anything, 1:29 I cannot remember my true form… But before the night comes to an end, I need my eternal beauty sleep! *lyrics then repeat*

I literally beat this with a sliver of HP with stone 💀😭 (after trying again multiple times at least to get back to the final fight)…..I think I might have also beat it with spark at a sliver of HP but I can’t remember lmao-
